I think they're OK. Those ties look old, there's no sheen on rail (rusty), looks over grown, looks like 80 lbs per yard (light rail), single track - that's abandoned track! Judging that they have summer clothing then winter they know a lot about that right-of-way. There not breaking any federal laws as no one is using that thing. Its prolly slated for a rail-to-trail conversion by the county or state soon. I only worry about them having enuf' fuel to return trip or a Grizzly bear encounter!

Also think about a 10-gallon reserve tank unless you have a pickup car/truck waiting at other end and you have a 2-way radio. Is there any automobile crossings? Do you have some sort of braking system or a hailer to warn people at car crossings?

@pieman97405 actually, if you paid any attention in school, then you would remember that it takes more than 1 million years for cans/bottles to decompose. plus, what if an animal tries to eat it and die, how about i ram aluminum and plastic down your throat and then you tell me if it does no harm.

Look at the overgrown grass on the tracks. I can't imagine that's an operating train line. If it is they're incredibly stupid, but it's highly likely it's a long abandoned line.

If it is abandoned it is most likely it has just closed down because the train bridge is in really good condition. Just look at the sleepers they haven't rotted yet.

Just because theres vegetation on the line doesn't me its not a working track it may also be a tourist line.

try goin to a scrap yard where they cut up trains and you will get alot of old wheels complete with axels and bearings, oil helps!
