yo assholes.... ever check out stevie performance for the library of congress? a whole classical piece with dashes of stevie and wonderlove all throughout. its wonderful. its on itunes for free. lovely!
Classic song...great at the end of the John Cusack movie High Fidelity. It's true that when we FALL in love...it's something that we ALL want to last forever. And it does...it just doesn't last in the way we always want it to. But if you have gratitude in your heart...true honest gratitude devoid of all ego and personal wants...you'll find that it's there....Forever.
@m1kewithaone this was so nice to be the first song to hear today,,,his last name is "wonder" for a reason ;c] you are the man m1ke! now i see 'for once in my life" as one of the suggestion song on the right -----> on my way to listen to that,,,'its been awhile' since i heard that one
@footballgeorgiebest well, now that you brought it up, i guess i wouldn't. and maybe i had a temporary loss of sanity when i said that. and if you really want to know, i do not like the ending to this song. not at all.
I love how towards the end he has so many vocal backgrounds overlapping! Love this song. Amazingly my first time hearing this! Where the heck have I been???!!!!
Also try being a blind black boy/man growing up in 1960's America, Still not even having your full rights in a society that your forefathers help build, knowing that you could be killed on a whim by some racist, like countless others before, but still speaking truth to power through your art.. Stevie wrote anthems about humanity, equality, brotherhood. How many artists- no people have had the courage to do that. He's so much more than just a musician. Mozart was a great architect of sound, true.
I had to put my two cents in on this mozart Stevie debate. Stevie was also a child prodigy, he's blind, a multi instrumentalist, producer and one of the greatest vocalist in recorded history. No diisrespect to Mozart, who was a genius, but i get annoyed when people think that classical music is so superior to other types of music. Stevie wrote opera's as well, dig " living just enough for the city," "superwoman/ where," " Lately" etc... It's not easy to condesnse an opera into a pop format.
I love this song and Stevie Wonder is a musical icon! Can't believe the first time I remember hearing this was on the end credits for "High Fidelity"! Which is why I rewound the VHS I had multiple times. Beautiful work, Mr Wonder!
Would have loved this one at Hyde Park on Saturday, but then if he'd played every one I wanted to hear he'd have been on stage all night. What a bloody fantastic night!
this is the song from the end credits of High Fidelity and also there is a version of this song covered by Michael Mcdonald in 2003 . But Stevie is Timeless and I always loved this song.
this song starts off slow with such a build up,that literally takes my breathe away. stevie wonder's music is timeless;the freshness and the message is enternal. what amazing lyrics. stevie wonder has written so many beautiful and lasting songs,i don't think that he can be matched,i mean his the mozart of his time. what a gift God as given him.
@MrNathan791 Wow! You QUITE OBVIOUSLY have absoluely no idea of what Mozart wrote. Live on in ignorance. You like this stuff and that's OK but don't demean the name of Mozart, please.PLEASE!!!!
@ifuliki your comments come off as someone whose drinking his own piss and think his comments really matters. name one song that mozart wrote with lyrics. punk, you can't can you. your uppity attitude stinks. just because you like mozart does'nt mean that you have class. and you're the ignorant one for not reconizing the genius in stevie wonder's lyrics. i like classical music too,but to have you think that mozart was all of that is stupid.so don't come off on me with your stuck up self. jerk.
@MrNathan791 I was about to write an angry at comment at you for implying that Mozart never wrote lyrics, but then I realized what an dick ifuliki is being. To ifuliki: 1) Funk music is different from Western art music in that it is centered around a groove, which is designed to be repeated. If it were up to me, this song would never end. 2) Stevie wonder has plenty of money. He had the largest-paying contract of his time, which cemented him as the first real superstar. 3) Beauty is subjective.
@MrNathan791 I didn't say I did not like or appreciate Stevie Wonder but I did take exception to you dragging in the name of Mozart and comparing your hero to him. I wont retract what I said. Mozart died young but he left an immense body of work and starting composing when he was a tiny little boy. You use obscenites so I take it that anybody who does not instantly agree with you arouses your anger. You should think about that and ehy that is It isn't healthy. Don't bother to reply.
@MrNathan791 you obviously have NO idea what you are talking about and are completely uneducated in music. Mozart happened to write countless operas and guess what they have lyrics!!! oh he also wrote songs for example Das Veilchen and Als Luise die Briefe were songs for voice and piano. Check your info before you start talking like you know it all. i'm saying nothing about stevie wonder, though. He happens to be one of the greatest artist of all time.

ha! cool! that movie is one of my "all time top 5 favorites"lol..remember john cusack kept saying that the whole movie?? yeah , killer movie and fantastic song!!!
for 30 years this chorus has resided somewhere in my memory, popping up from time to time. i forgot where it came from. thank God for genius songwriters and black presidents!
I try not to cry when I hear this song because it makes Me think of My late father so much because he would play Stevie Wonder's music around the house when I was growing up. I'm going to play this song at my wedding as a tribute to my father. I love this song& all of Stevie Wonder's work.
Genius.
