  • Thanks for your interest. No, Bartok just COLLECTED and PUBLISHED 5000 Romanian folk songs ( he collected 10 x more, but just published 5 volumes with this folk songs). I chose among those the one he never used in his music and arranged them: put them in a "composition", with harmony, rhythms, orchestration and development, so everything excepts the very melodies are original

  • are these from Bartok's own arrangements of folk songs, from transcriptions made by Bartok of folk songs or from field recordings made by Bartok in Romania?
