What is she talking about? Georgianna WAS an It Girl back then before that became a term. Just like Marie Antoinette in many ways. Who was a contemporary of hers by the way. But she had more class than any Paris Hilton in the world. Overall the comparison is not apt.
I thought it was an excellent movie. So tragic yet had soul-saving moments of inspiration and hope and love. The soundtrack was equally fantastic, and the lead rolls were filled by excellent, and excellent-looking actors :)
I totaly agry with you... But it was to short for me, just because i'm a big fan of history and i love to find out about that period in history, it's facinating.
Diana WAS trapped, as a public figure married to someone who did not love her, potentially a king, in a culture where traditionally, divorce was not an easy option. I think Lemire is trying to say 'Jorg-eye-na', as Fiennes pronounces the name in the movie; she's just not got the ear for it, cut her some slack. It's not pronounced 'Georgie-ana', as you suggest. Such things don't make Lemire a poor critic. She's not critiquing here, she's reviewing - providing an overview of the film.

diana was not "trapped in a loveless royal marriage"
she chose to marry charles, no, it didn't end up a happy marriage but not all marriages do and it was all by her own choice, she also knew that she would be the subject of celebrity gossip... she was marrying the heir to the throne of england for goodness' sake.
oh, and her name is "Georgiana" therefore pronounced as "Georgiana" not, "Jor-jaina"
Grr dumb American review

No, Diana always said they're were 3 people in her marriage: her, Charles, and Camilla.
