The technique is great, no doubts he s a great pianist. The performance is out of style, no gaucho can dance so fast. Greetings from Argentina, land of Ginastera.
No, I disagree with many of the postings. I think this was truly excellent. It captured the spirit, and he can play it this speed. And it sounds more fluent this way. Bravo!!!!!!!
I m Argentinean, and I know this sonata. He plays too fast. This is a flok dance called MALAMBO. Nobody can dance so fast, and answering KATCHUM, he can play so fast because there are many, MANY wrong keys.
it's not fast f., a friend of mine played that 2 days ago in Madrid's National Auditorium, and that's the tempo, or even faster. It was incredible, he's a geniuos.
I know this piece even tho I havent dared to play it. This is my first time listening through the video.. and I thought he played ALL the notes CORRECTLY

phenomenal..and to those who say it is too fast, check ginastera 's own metronome markings..dotted eigth is 144...this guy has the tempo bang on...
his mastering of the character of this piece makes his few wrong notes more than forgiveable

I found that he got 4th prize in the Leeds International Competition recently held.

you're wrong. he misses a few notes...most notably in the left hand when it's jumping around...but it's still a great performance.

Acturelly this is his first performance of this piece, just for encore. And he told me that he did not prepare very much. Now he play much better.
mahler13 5 years ago
word, he sacrifices some notes to play it insanely fast...but still...that's impressive.

That wasn't fast forwarded! The piano was at the correct pitch, jerk.
Anyway, a truely impressive preformance. (This kid is no Cziffra, though).
