I am just astounded by the performance of these three beautiful women....fantastic voices, unequaled, top of their class....no singers of today can match these ladies. Words escape me....
This song was used as their encore at their live shows in the late seventies and although i didnt see the whole show i did manage to catch the performance of this and it was quite stunning.
I prefer the Donna Summer verison! She made this song her own, taking it all the way to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1978! donna was, is, and always will be "The Queen"!!!
A master class in showmanship, vocal perfection, and beauty. A flawless vocal performance of one of the industries most difficult songs, performed live under the direction of the great Mr. Richard Barret. RIP Fayette Pinkney and Richard Barrett. "After all the loves of my life, I will be thinking of you, but wondering why"? Sing Fayette, she hit the hell outta that note!!!!!!! This is the classic line. And Valerie, Helen, and Freddie are todays great lineup the legend continues.
It's songs/clips like this that make me realize that I was truly born in the wrong era. Granted I love the 90's Hip-Hop that I grew up listening to, but if you break it down, most 90's Hip-Hop sampled great music such as this. And now-a-days, singers are nowhere near the same calibre as these women. They believe singing with soul means screaming into the mic. But as displayed here, true masters in the art of singing can pierce your soul and do so effortlessly. I wish real music would return.
@Harold81 I agree. It still baffles me that these ladies weren't bigger than they were. Sheer elegance and vocal prowess. I love all the Degrees, but I definetly understand why these three ladies (Sheila, Valerie, and Fayette) are considered the CLASSIC line-up of the group. They worked so well together! Perfection!
If you are interested in the original version of this song it was sung by Richard Harris... as in the actor Richard Harris. It was his 'imperfect' singing voice that made his version the best in my opinion.
70年代、彼女たちは正当に評価を受けなかった。
アメリカはいったいなにをやっていたんだ。
日本人として2012年現在、とても悔しいです。

The Three Degrees seem to revel in live concerts. These moves are exactly how I imagined this song is danced to in a gown.

Big it up for Prince Charles- this was his group in the 70s. Can you blame him?
Sheila, I am still waiting...

ladies today need to learn that showing your body is not the answer to beauty
these women are wearing long dresses and they carry themselves with so much class they are sexier then women you make a living showing their bodies.

Truly amazing ... in terms of musical composition, orchestration, vocal performance and recording technique. As close to "perfection" as possible.

it's ok, donna summer still did the definitive version

Very Sweet! They blend their voices together naturally rather then bending and mixing them in a studio like todays so called (artists)!
