  • you can hear that bass in the left channel

  • This with How the West Was Won and Made In Japan are the 3 best rock live albums ever!

  • @bushokjew00t Yes you are right, and Yessongs

  • I hope to play like them one day (:

  • I especially like how clean this all sounds.

  • The top three best live albums(IMO) : 1.) The Who-Live at Leeds, 2.) Thin Lizzy - Live and Dangerous, 3.) UFO - Strangers in the Night

  • good song made golden in this performance.

  • extended jams are the best. one of the best ive heard in my short music filled life

  • is it possible to play something like that (8:18-8:33)with only one guitar?

  • @jimrhcp95 Impossible isn't Townshend.

  • @jimrhcp95

Yeah, with pedal effects this can be possible. Doubt it's possible without pedals.

  • @agking50

it's possible because the echo bounces of the back in the hall

  • I still have the poster that came with this LP! My favourite LP of theirs.

  • 5:51.... Magic

  • Child of the 80s here. Walking the streets blasting this above all the hair metal and some kid asks me what this was. I said it was The Who and that the song was 15 minutes. He said "Why's it so long?" I looked at him with a straight face and said "It's the extended rap/dance version." He said "Really?!" "Oh, you poor man. Come. Listen. Learn." I don't know where that kid is right now, but I hope he's ok.

  • @schmittelt Alternate answer: "Why's it so long?" "Because it's awesome."

  • @sangheili1024 "Whys it so long?" "Would you want to shorten it?"

  • @PyroTechnicalnsanity ... This is the time of Prog Rock. Bands like King Crimson, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Genesis, Yes, etc. Extended jams were the norm.

  • So worth the $10 I paid for the ORIGINAl VINYL at a swap meet...so worth it...

  • Summer 1980--returning from a trip to Berkeley with three "discoveries" to share with my closest pals: Live at Leeds, Their Satanic Majesties Request (Rolling Stones) and mushrooms. Wow...! But THIS album, Live at Leeds...oh man, it certainly INFORMED many of my own musical (mis)adventures on guitar or bass over the years. Just...too good!

  • まさしく"マイ・ジェネレイション"だった、驚異ベース、ジョン・エントウィッスル、ロック最強ライヴベスト5のひとつ、THE WHO~ライヴ・アット・リーズ

  • this... is....a... huge.........EARGASM

  • The computer graphic of the album doesn't do justice to the actual vinyl. The actual vinyl case is just weird, it's got an "old timey" feel that feels older than the actual vinyl itself. It's weird when you actually hold onto a real copy.

  • I want this played at my funeral...

  • @Tarturus8803 hope you die before you get old ;)

  • @Tarturus8803

    awesome response

  • @Tarturus8803 Me toooooooo ;-)

  • have to agree with popular sentiment...this album is the shit.

    and this song kicks ass.

  • best song to play on drums

  • Are they playing Feel Like Making Love around 7 minutes?

  • @DamonAlbarnFan NO NO NOOOOOOO

  • @ledzeppelin174 I was joking. There is nothing bad about Paul Rodgers either.

  • The best reason to buy the album is this song.

  • Can someone tell me what song they start playing at 4:04 ? It's fuckin awesome

  • @darthsage411 I Think is the Live Version of Naked Eye

  • This always reminds of the movie - Quadraphenia. think I'll go jump of a balcony. "Hey mate, got any blues/"

  • John Entwistle's the greatest bass player

  • Is there anyone who could post this version of this song in its entirety in one recording instead of in two?Thank you.

  • WHY IS THE BASS SO QUIET!?

  • def in my top 5 of all time. never gets old

  • Oh, Hell Yeah!!! Someone uploaded "My Generation" from "Live At Leeds" in 2 parts!!! Thank you sooo so much for doing that!!! This kicks ass!!!

  • That delicate part amidst a storm of feedback and absolute fuckin rush just before the 06:00 mark is so so beautiful.

  • Why is this so damned hardcore? Its amazing!

  • I owned this album for 40 years and every time I hear this number, I get the shivers down my backbone each day each time. still can sing it along, any time a day.

  • Så jäkla bra!!!

  • John Entwistle was probably the greatest rock bassist ever--his work still astonishes me decades later, pair this with Moon's drumming, and you have one of the greatest rhythm sections in Rock history.

  • @helenkrump very true

  • My best friend, best man at my wedding, turned me on to different parts of this incredible album. I got it right away, the brilliance, but I'll always feel he gave me something musically I might never have caught or even understood. Thanks, On!!!!

  • One of the Best Rock albums ever.

  • Grab your Ball-sacks!! and Holdem tight!! and Dream the Dream!

  • How did the song portion that starts at 4:00 originate? Is it original? I want to know cause I get chills when i hear it every time. Its beyond epic.

  • Fuck the Royals, The Who is Englands" Royality.....

  • great...

  • that jam from 4:00 - 6:00 is enough to bring me to tears.i feel all the hairs man.turn it up as loud as you fucking can children!!!

  • @MrJonesywales you know, Jonesy, I can remember the first time I heard this lead / no wonder many consider this the best live rock album ever / life is good

  • there isn't a band on this planet

    that can

    match

    this!

  • @haidacanoe wat about lady gaga noob.

  • wholly fuck after having listened to it after a while I've realised that this clip cuts off the cresendo!! I guess the guy who posted it just couldn't fit it all on

  • I've got this on record but my record player is shit so I have to wear headphones. The other night I smoked a cool one and fired up the turntable with this track, put on the headphones and my wife reckons the salt shaker walked across the table. I didn't notice a thing.

  • Can't top 'em. No way.

  • I'm hard pressed to to select who live at leeds, or the turning point by john mayall as my favorite live recordings ever.

  • john entwistle=god

  • mp3iffy works again wooohoooo awesome - google mp3iffy

  • Are there tabs for the part at 4:02? I've never heard it ever before

  • @razorslice17 Try it by ear

  • @razorslice17 its called naked eye and its kind of an F, C , G thing.

  • @fullmooney1 Chords are D, C, G :)

  • Higher is actually the embryonic version of Naked Eye. Listen to IOW reording of My Generation and it has the first verse of Naked Eye

  • Best rock ... ever, ever, ever! And I can remember so many high days of just laying back, listening and enjoying. Pete Townsend was the rock genius of my generation. Lucky time to be born.

  • Man, back then The Who were badasses.... and they still are.

  • that's the bass!!!!

    oh fuck! i love it!

    The Who forever

  • The only live album that sounded better than the studio versions. TOTALLY UTTERLY SONIC KILLER RIIFFS

  • @rockinroger69 Led Zeppelin's "How the West Was Won" is killer. Los Jaguares "Bajo el Azul de tu Misterio" is also a beautiful live album.

  • AT 4,02 ..... THE BEST SOLO IN THE STORY OF ROCK.

  • except no substitutes....

  • A little bit of history for me, 14 and living the times, at the Goza's house in Houston doing everything and jamming to The Who. We all had vest with beads and not a care in the world. Unfortunetly we grew up, but we still have the music...

  • The greatest live album EVER! This track has more riffs and jams packed in it than any other band created in their careers. I hold only GET YOUR YA-YAS OUT in similar regard. Pure sonic artillery. Utter aural majesty. The heaviest of heavies.

    The real deal...

  • @bendbadgersteve Yeah it actually has been considered as one of the best live albums ever recorded, no doubt about that.

  • @bendbadgersteve i have to say "how the west was won" challenges it

  • RAW. ROCK. N. ROLL.

  • 1:31, I can't believe no one pointed this out

    "Genita--neration."

What was that, Mr. Daltrey? XD

[If you don't comprehend what I'm saying, he almost said "genitalia" on purpose, but decided against it.]

  • The Who Should Be In The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame

  • @koala1209 they are

  • @koala1209

    they are

they were induced in the 1990's

  • these are the orginals, yes

  • Didn't Daltrey re-record the vocals for this? or are these the original vocals?

  • the song they are playing is: My Generation/See Me Feel Me/Listening to You/Higher/Overbridge/ Coming Out To Get You/ Underture/Driving Four

  • Quickmood..? you're a master !! glad u remember all those titles

  • @Quickmood

what is the name of the song at 4:10,it starts with "SO......SOOOOOOOOOOOO"

    thnx in advance

  • @ejdbk Hello my friend!!....that is a song called ''Higher'' aka Naked Eye. Roger is singin' ''sssooo looong very long''. It drives me mad when everybody is calling it ''Naked Eye''...and it's not!...its ''Higher''!....ya know....they played it on woodstock as well....and every concerts u hear between 1969 and 1970....my fav times :-)

  • @Quickmood

    thnx man

my favorite who song is (i can see for miles)

    whats yours

  • @ejdbk Cheers buddy!!

  • @Quickmood the See Me Feel Me/Listening To You could have also been Go To The Mirror...given that they were played consecutively, it is quite possible =P.

  • @Quickmood aren't See Me Feel Me and Listening to You the same things? :V

  • @Quickmood You forgot thje instrumental portion of "The Naked Eye" which plays at around 4:00

  • @stevenvy10 ....no I didnt!..and its called Higher!

  • @stevenvy10.....no I didnt! its called 'Higher'!...not 'Naked Eye', because Roger is singin' "so long goodbye".

  • @Quickmood The Who dont have a song called higher... listen to "The Naked Eye" and you'll see that its the naked eye

  • @stevenvy10 The arrangement (2nd verson jams) of Naked Eye is called Higher, its the same key with extra added lyrics. visit thewho.net, go to albums or guitar tabs, live at leeds, my generation, and u will find the songs wich they havent recorded, just played live.

  • @Quickmood What about naked? no? oh well, i always thought that those chords after listening to you were from naked eye.

  • @kanzosupremo Yes, "Naked Eye" is there, but...not as The "Naked Eye" but as "Higher". Its like a shorter version with different lyrics.

  • what song is it at 4:11 after see me feel me

  • I think it is from "Tommy" "the rock opera".

  • i know its from tommy im wonderin what the songs called

  • I don't know. I remember Tommy, the rock opera but that was 40 years ago. Try a Google search for the Who and Tommy. That might turn up something. I wished I could sing like this @ 4:11, but I can't. But I did try a few times.

  • @krajacich its a real early version of naked eye. they played it at woodstock too

  • Comment removed

  • 40 years ago, right about this very moment... the best live recording EVER. 2/14/1970. History.

  • i had this vinyl back in times.thank you for loading it.

  • Sooo Sooo very long, good bye, good bye.

    I like it.

  • 0:51 to 1:15....best moment in rock history?

  • that has to be one of the most brilliant and insane bass solos I have ever heard from John

  • I saw them in the early 70's at the silverdome and they played this set. this was pre-ban on audience directed lasers. brilliant! My brain melted!

  • i remember when i first this on LP... the first time i heard Rock artists improvise, get lost in their song and just

    go

    all

    over

    the

    place,

like, they even had a quick "Tommy" trip during MG, and then just completely rocked out, and John was in the middle of all of it.

this is what they used to do during their early session instrumental work, it's on YT, look for it, but this live piece ties so much of their music and method of play together

  • the who is the best! their live at leeds performance is the greatest creation in classic rock music.nobody can compare

  • @constp1 true dat!!!!!!

  • At 4:22 when Daltrey goes "Sooo Sooo Very Long, Goobye, Goobye. Sooo, Sooo Very Long, Goobye, Goobye, Goobye Bye, Bye, Bye, Bye. Goobye, Goobye, So, Bye, Bye. Sooo Very Long, Sooo Very Long." up to 5:49....Then they're into a whole other mood. ELP, Yes, or ELO never recorded a mood piece better than this. This is rock and soul music. Wow. I've never heard anything better on record. Still love it, 10x straight. They bring you through so many moods it's amazing. I appreciate them more than ever.

  • John Entwistle doesn't get the credit he deserved. These guys were tight, and it all starts with bass and drums.

  • well he was named bassist of the millennium by guitar magazine but yeah i dont think that title does him enough justice lol

entwistle pretty much had to play as good as he did to keep up with keith lol

  • the greatest live record ever

  • ahhh, heaven 0:51-1:08

  • This makes my ear pussies wet.

  • Amazing video!!! Now on to part two!!!

    Thanks for the post!

  • why does this sound different than the original LP version? seems it got cleaned up a little. is that correct?

  • They messed with the bass solo a little. It seems choppier, but it might just be me.

  • I don't think it is quite complete. Townshend hasn't put enough cool riffs in one song.

  • John splits adams, keith puts them back together and pete splits them back apart.

  • What are you talking about? Don't you mean atoms? And either way it makes no sense.

  • it doesnt have to, its The Who. Thats all you need to know.

  • it's a metaphor to mean he's so fucking good, silly man ;P

  • the best 'My Generetion' version ever! the who is great rock band - the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the solo after 4 minutes it's amazing...

    fantastic!!!

  • Well it's nothing compared to the solo at 0:50

You might ask yourself: Is it true that Entwistle could split atoms with his bass sound?

  • @perfuzz and the answer would be....yes

  • @perfuzz Ha Ha! I never needed to ask myself, I knew since the first time i heard it's brilliance.

  • One of my favorites ever.

  • greatest band ever.
