true that all e30s have cool motors the straight six being my fav. M badge is a badge, what i really like about old M3 is outside apperance. Tough,smart fantasic looking ride. Even bmw can't reproduce cars of old 80's had some german classics.

If you want to know, the engine had a vac leak and some other misk problems that prevented it from running perfectly, this was the first run I had on any road. and yes, the temp sensor does not work. I have a VDO one down by the shifter. I assure you the engine wansn't stone cold.
my 89 is getting an S52 convt. to ob1 right now. I am a bit sad to get rid of the S14, but it doesnt have enough power, and it is so damn expensive to tune. S52 is cheaper for bolt ons, less maint.

It's not about power there. It's about being stock and that S14 has some magic about it. You will get to 100 with S52 faster, but S14 is about HOW you get to that 100.
You're an idiot, there's nothing wrong with putting a superior modern motor into an E30 M3. The S14 is not godly no matter how much you worship it and it certainly isn't what makes the car worthy of the M badge.
A guy who swaps an s52 engine and does it sucessfully probably knows the dangers of running an improperly warmed engine, the sensor prolly doesnt work, and plus read the description.
The s52 is not a real m engine, i see it more like a pimped out M50
