  • its also worth noting that its NOT more expensive than its current 5 series rival. The 520D in comparable spec is a good few thousand pounds more expensive. Even then, you still don't get the options the jag has, like electric seats, premium sound system, sat nav etc. To spec that up on a 520D results in a car costing amost £40,000 vs the £34,000 of the XF 2.2. sport

  • This is simply stunning! Love the rear, love the front and I adore the price. It is one of those dream cars that are actually quite affordable. (compared to say an Aston Martin)

  • The equivalent Auidi's aren't aren't even rear wheel drive or even an understeery 4wd... I don't see how they even compare.

  • They need to bring diesel cars here to America. They complain about gas and oil, but they always allow the importing of the biggest and most gas-guzzling models available!

  • Sorry I really really really don't think it's as good looking as a 5 series.

  • lol TATA should just buy Aston Martin or something, instead of stealing their roofline and tail lights

  • So stylish. I'm going to see how much does it cost.

  • I don't think it's better looking. It is nice, but bland. Change the badge, the design could be a big Honda or Hyundai. Doesn't have character.

Old Jags were not very good, but they certainly were distinctive.

  • well, thank you very much for upmarket enterior in terms of both quality and design, but come on, high class car without parking camera, that's a shame, my nissan primera wins on that field despite it is lower class and older model. and I do think it is more important in saloon car than popping lever of gearbox

  • Single exhaust? Dual looks so much better!

  • No one can hide the truth that it will break in a matter of months English cars are the worst and their resale is bad too

  • @aziz5627 'the jaaaags' are not reliable. however, germans like audi and bmw are about the same. not to mention merc which is worse than ever.

  • Ugly

  • i don't know about that, i think the BMW are nicer to look at, but probably its just me.

  • @VitariusLaszlo I agree!

  • @VitariusLaszlo Indeed sir

  • how is 8 seconds quick?

  • @mohammedschannel Try listening... he said 8secs is reasonable

  • volvo xc90 review please....

  • Well, as Clarkson said: It's a Jag!

  • Nice car from Jag....an XF with XJ face

  • The car was designed in Britain, built in Britain and uses a British made Engine. Its British through and through! - Tata own and finance Jaguar and thats it. Anyway why would it matter if it was made in India?

  • @rickerbycourt

Is the DW12C made in the UK? I'm not 100% sure it is.

  • The irony is that he said it's good for overtaking, but you rarely ever see a Jag overtaking other cars because they are never driven by aggressive stupid-risk-taking arseholes, like lesser makes

    (*ahem**cough**Citroen**Renault**cough**)

  • It's so damn sexy! I love the front lights! =)

  • guess what

when u buy a jaguar or land rover

u make an indian company richer

  • @nishantsirohi123 I know. That's why I'll never want one. Indian shit cars! And Volvo! OMG, they're owned by a shit Chinese company! Fuck the Americans for buying good brands, and then selling them to Asian shit companies to help them, because they're Asian.

  • @MacGyver920

You know what cellphone u are using and who grows half of your food ?

  • @nishantsirohi123 My cellphone is Swedish/Japanese, and my food is mostly Norwegian.

  • @MacGyver920

    You know nothing.

  • @MacGyver920 - Don't let your prejudices get in the way of enjoying something truly magnificent. The cars like Jaguars and Volvos will always be majestic and breathtaking. Ownership doesn't change much. The people who made the Jaguars and Volvos will be the same people who will make it now. I regret to say that unfortunately you will be the only person who will lose out on some fantastic experiences because of your narrow minded outlook. Good luck!

  • @rjarjun1989 I like European cars the best. And I don't like Americans ruining every single brand for fun and money.

  • @nishantsirohi123 So? I'm happy for all the indians!

  • @lewis72

and i am happy cuz u are happy

  • Instead of a 2.2L engine just put a 1.3L engine for more power! ...... not

  • is this new jaguar xf 2012?

  • @lopiumx yes

  • @lopiumx yep

  • @lopiumx

    Yes.

  • I like his reviews a lot

  • Put it this way. Jaguar's are so much more classy than BMW or Audi as they are now mainstream fodder and not all they are cracked up to be. Plus they are totally souless and all look the same. Absolutely not like the XF!

  • How about the new XJ ? : )

  • 2.2 engine fuck u jaguar people tht see this car should think ths a 5.0 litre engine lol my golf is 2.5 litres omg looool

  • @uskokral

Jaguar are only competing with the entry-level BMs, Audis & Mercs. Without these engine options, the company becomes unviable.

  • You're all a bunch of twats, who the hell would buy that peice of shit ugly 5 series over this, a fucking idiot fanboy is what. German cars and German people are fucking gross.

  • @LukeNAESA10 Ooooh some pale, freckled red-haired, big-eared, ugly British boy got fucked in the arse by a German?

  • @LukeNAESA10

There cars maybe, the people defiantly aren't. I guess you know none.

  • why don't you German car lovers buy it then...... no wonder we have no job here in this country....... pathetic!!!

  • When James May gets too old, I could see you on Top Gear... (I'm being serious, not joking).

  • @KingJus414 I agree

  • fucking asshole why are you talking about taxi drivers.

  • i thought this engine would be in the x type replacement.will it?when will the new baby jag come along.this new 2.2 diesel in a x type replacement would be even more economical and fast.will it happen?

  • @johnnywires3

No. There'll be a newer unit to go in that.

  • Does this newer XF have a petrol engine?

  • @shauntanweibin

    Only 5.0 V8 for now.

  • I have an XF S with a slight bump in power, however i still manage to get around just under 40mpg's. Not sure how you were sitting in the back there but i can fit comfortably. Pretty annoyed about the facelift thought ha.

  • the color of this car is shit

  • Best looking executive car? Aston Martin Rapide :P

  • Can't wait to see the DS4 review :)

  • I thumb up every Matt video.

  • I'd go for 5 series

  • @farabirview The interior is much better in a JAG...But BMW looks much better on the outside...And it is 10 better car...

  • @farabirview The interior is much better in a JAG...But BMW looks much better on the outside...

  • Every man needs a JAGGG~

  • I've been watching your reviews and it's certainly getting better and better. Keep it up Mat :)

  • I think it looks a little better now that the little bumps in the headlights are gone. I think they kinda made it look cartoon-ish, but to me it looks realll fuckin' nice in light blue. But yes, I would prolly take a 5 series over this mainly because I'm a beamer kinda guy.

  • Great looking car. That blue is hideous though.

  • If I saw someone driving that i'd think you money show off git

  • man you should be on top gear

  • Think what you will, the XF is the sexiest saloon in its class.

  • I don't like the new side gills on the facelifted version.

  • This car defenetly need two exhausts in the rear.... it looks rediciouls with only one. I'm used to see it at least 2, if not 4.

  • @846524162 It would be definitely ridiculous with 4 because it's a diesel. But I do agree that one looks a bit ugly.

  • can you review the brand new facelifted bmw 1 series please.

  • Jaguar drivers are about passion, soul and pedigree. Who cares if you have to pay a little more, for a little less practicality.

On the other hand, if you like your ice cream in vanilla flavour, and your walls in beige, then go for one of the Germans

  • @ManuelFerara When will you foreigners shut the fuck up.

  • @LukeNAESA10 When will you Brits make a reliable car?

  • @ManuelFerara When will you dirty serbs make a car.

  • @TheHornyHomunculus Yugo 45,Yugo 55,Zastava 128,Zastava 101,Yugo Florida...Try searching the web,it is not only for porn,you could actually learn something :)

  • @ManuelFerara Wow you must be proud building those shitboxes. Honda CR-V Honda Jazz Nissan Juke Nissan Note Nissan Qashqai Jaguar XF Jaguar XK Land Rover Defender Land Rover Discovery Land Rover Freelander Mini Range Rover Range Rover Sport Toyota Auris Toyota Avensis Vauxhall Astra We are also the only place in the world to be building the new Honda Civic for Europe. The Jap cars on the list are the most reliable cars money can buy so we CAN build reliable cars.
  • @TheHornyHomunculus My friend don't tell me about Land Rovers I currnetly own a Freelander...And that is the worst car i have ever owned...It is so expensive to run and just about everything broke down,i spoke to some other land rover owners and they have the same experience...I owned a XJ jag also and it was a bit more reliable but it costed even more to run...The were the 2 worst cars i have ever owned...And about those Hondas, they are Japanese, you Brits only build them when Japs design them

  • @ManuelFerara You asked "when will you brits make a reliable car?" I responded by telling you we BUILD many Japanese cars which are the most reliable cars available.

I wont dispute English designed cars are unreliable, so are French cars, so are German cars, all European cars are.

Dont make stupid comments about one of the greatest countries on earth building some of the best cars on earth when your country is the poorest in Europe and is building 20 year old rebadged Fiats.

  • @TheHornyHomunculus I agree with you about most of the stuff...Japanese cars are the best in the world!

Especially Honda and Mazda...But i also think older German cars are great...French cars are something special...I cant explain to you how much do i hate them especially the Renaults...

    But

Serbia is not the poorest in Europe...Macedonia,Bosnia,Albania and Moldavia are even more poor...But i am aware that living in my country stinks...

But Serbian cars that i mentioned are not rebaged FIATS!

  • @TheHornyHomunculus Serbian cars are the biggest crap especially YUGO-s...But they were extremly cheap to buy...They were only 4000 euros when new...And parts were also extremlly cheap...You could get a new complete engine for 200 euros...So you get what you pay for a small crappy car for crappy money...

  • @TheHornyHomunculus

I'm not aware of this greatness index of which you speak. Is it measured in genocides?

  • @ManuelFerara Hmm the term "when" isn't necessary because we already have. And the most reliable cars going today are Lexus'. And Jaguar got a 5 star dependability rating in the JDPower survey.

  • @LukeNAESA10 I owned a Jaguar XJ and a Land Rover Freelander could you take that survey to my mechanic who asked me for 1200 euros for a replacement clutch on my Land Rover....Or could you take it to my ex mechanic who changed my bent valves on my XJ for about 14000 euros as i remember...Trust me my friend all British cars are complete crap and are expensive to run

  • @ManuelFerara Hahaha 14000 euros...

  • @LukeNAESA10 I ment 1400 but i am not sure about that exact price, cause it was pretty long time ago...but it was expensive i remember that ;)

  • @ManuelFerara When we're not so busy building weapons to use on your shitty Country. Have a nice day :)

  • @justnotcricket

Joking about terrorism just ain't cool, dude.

  • @textthing Bombing Serbs isn't terrorism :) And you're allowed to say anything to '26' yr old spammers talking about cars that aren't related to this video. Fucking cretin that guy is, the only reason the Serb hasn't replied is because he has to wait till all the Albanians have to get off the phone. He should spam his own Countries automotive related consumer advice videos...

  • @justnotcricket

Actually, bombing civilians is terrorism by definition. Get the hell off your hobby horse.

  • Holly cow, I saw nine thumbs up a wink ago now its twelve, awesome.

  • great review mat! time to review an S class!

  • i think the bmw 5 looks better but thats my opinion =D

  • Another great review.

I must commend you, Mat. Your delivery, choice of words, etc is most pleasing.

You seem to have found a role that suits you well.

    Cheers.

  • Having a "Coupe" like roof-line is good for looks, not so good for practicality, (poor rear head room and a very short rear boot lid.) But you can't have everything, And I wish car makes would stop putting, LED fairy lights on there cars, it makes it look really cheap.

  • The BMW 520d makes a whole lot more sense than the Jag.

  • Love Jags sexy cars I have one, no one looks twice at a BM, it counts eh? lol

  • @omendark123 Well of course it wont do 52 mpg on a test drive....where they drive it to its limits....520d wouldnt do any better either.

  • @omendark123 Hi Mat from CarBuyer here. Yes that MPG was after doing lots of passing shots for the camera so the engine was getting a serious workout. However, I did an MPG test on the car and still only managed 36mpg during a period of 'normal' driving. From my experience, in similar circumstances I'd expect to see around 45mpg on the display had I been in a BMW 520d or Audi A6 2.0 TDI.

  • @carbuyer i love your timing and your videos whenever a new car or a faceliift comes out you will review it just before others do thanks a lot . keep reviewing new facelifts in the future.

  • @omendark123 This car uses a Ford engine from the Mondeo. If you want to compare diesel engines, the XF's 3.0 S derived engine will flatten any diesel engine BMW currently offers.

  • Comment removed

  • @LukeNAESA10 Actually the bmw 535d goes 0-62 in 5.6 seconds, and returns 47 mpg, which is better than the jag in both ways. Jaguar and land rover engines are rubbish as they are unreliable and there are many problems with their engines, even the new ones. Bmw, merc and audi make the best engines. And bmw have a 4 litre diesel, so i think that would "flatten the jag even more". But its not about speed much, its about the driving experience, mpg, refinemant, image, tech, comfort and residuals

  • @omendark123 I actually thought 28 mpg is quite good for a sporty drive. A Max out prius can only do about 17 mpg(i rmb seeing it on top gear with a 10 lap race with an m3)..But no i don't agree that it can be 52 mpg. Isn't it expected that Jaguar or any kinda of british car is not known for their reliability or efficiency? However I have to agree that even if you don't believe in the "car with personality" thing it is still better looking then an A6 or a E-class at least.

  • @Desmonddd2002 Yes, but have you seen the new a6? But the 5-series is definitely the best executive/luxury saloon. I really like the new 2012 1 series hatchback though!

  • @omendark123 The new A6 with the all LED headlamps are great looking. But apart from its all aluminum light-weight contraction there is no new stuff about it. The 2012 1 series finally addresses the "practical" issue (they haven't solved it, being rear wheel drive, but they improved it) but some how the backside reminds me of a Polo and the front an Audi A1 with BMW own light bulbs.

  • @omendark123 Jaguar engines are the best.......bmw make good engines, but the diesels Jaguars make are amazing!

  • @omendark123 like if you can afford it...

  • I don't think it is better looking than the german rivals...

  • what would you say it's a better choice this engine or the v6 diesel?

  • god matt is sexy!!

  • great review
