  • ASU and OSU fans will never forget. and OSU fans will make sure UM fans never forget

  • This isn't the greatest upset of all time, considering App State had a terrific D1-AA team and Michigan ended up being just a decent 8-4 team. Hyperbole much?

  • The greatest upset in Sports history occurred on July 19, 1966 when North Korea, whose overall record in World Cup play is 1 win, i draw and 5 losses with a overall goal difference of -15, won the only World Cup game they ever won defeating 4 time champion Italy 1-0. The Appalachian State-Michigan game doesn't even come close to that. Remember that at the time this game was played Appalachian State was a two time defending Division 1-AA champion

  • Michigan fans are arrogant assholes.

See the comment below by - TheMichiganfan39.

  • MIke Hart got his big, cocky mouth shut!!!

  • It's been eclipsed- Jacksonville st. over Ole Miss 2010.

  • @WillHear432 no way this was way bigger than that

  • What you see here is a perfect example of vastly underestimating your opponent. You have to take them all seriously or you will get burned. Ask Wisconsin's men's basketball team of a few years ago how that was like when they lost at home to N. Dakota State. Right now, MI and Notre Dame are tied for the most overrated programs in D-1, despite what Dhani Jones or any of their other grads would say.

  • @336kgf Or another perfect example...Stanford losing at Palo Alto to UC-Davis.

  • Biggest Upset?

    1969 Michigan vs. OSU

That was the biggest upset in history against the best football team of the 1900's and beyond

  • @TheMichiganfan39

That was an upset. Probably Woody's best team ever. However, not the biggest shocker of all time. Michigan getting their asses handed to them by App State takes the cake. Sorry Michigan boy, that's just the way it is!!!

  • We still went to the captial one bowl that year lol

  • tyson douglas?????

  • at 0:56 the commentator sounds like he just stuck his hand in some boiling water

  • lol michigan is a piece of shit

  • yess i would like a app to beat michigain of course just go to appst what appcian stsstate o thank you

  • @Eagle027 Bullshit yourself. You're a moron for questioning people's patriotism. I'm well aware hockey is a team sport. The American TEAM lost to the Russian TEAM 10-3 less than two weeks before the Miracle on Ice. You have no clue. Your assessment that it was not an upset clashes with every sportswriter and expert, American or otherwise. Brooks himself said the Russians would have beaten the U.S. 9 times if they'd played ten games. Brooks HIMSELF thereby defined the U.S. win as an upset.

  • how is this the biggest upset ever?noone except americans care about american football

  • @Eagle027 Sorry, that's just a load of crap. No one could have KNOWN team USA would win back in 1980. Faith, hope, belief, yes. Knowing? No.

They had been destroyed by the USSR in an exhibition with the same players and coaches, 10-3, less than two weeks before the Miracle on Ice. To claim that @FoxyHoxie119 hates America is moronically disrespectful and presumptuous.

  • @mickandelisa Bullshit, hockey is a team sport, and Herb Brooks created a team. What happened was the fact everybody particularly the Soviets grossly underestimated the talent and drive of Herb's team. Any true patriot can see they really were that good, as a team.

  • i disagree that its the greatest in sports history, the USSR USA hockey game in 1980 is the greatest in all of sports. but this is definatly the greatest in all of college football

  • @FoxyHoxie119 The 1980 victory is a upset only if you hate America, and have no respect for their athletes. Anybody who knew anything about Herb Brooks and those kids and the Spirit of Lake Placid, knew they would win.

  • @Eagle027 I happen to like the US, and i still think that the "Miracle on Ice" was an upset. That's why it was called a "MIRACLE" and not an "EXPECTED RESULT" on ice.

I think the odds on america being in the final were 70-1 at the outset, and close to double that when they had to go through the USSR in the semis. So quit watching fox news and accept that America doesn't have to be the best ranked team every time. See what Holland did in the world cup?

  • Definately the 1980 game between USA and USSR was much much much larger and more important!

  • No the miracle on ice was the greatest upset in sports history!!!

  • The 1980 miracle on ice is the greatest in sports

  • After everything is said and done, this actually was not the biggest upset in college history. Michigan simply just BLOWS.

  • @TebooTedMarshall Michigan finished 9-4 in 2007 and finished ranked 18th in the country and they also beat #13 ranked Florida in the Capital One Bowl that year. Also, FBS schools are allowed 85 scholarships, while FCS schools are allowed 63 scholarships, And anyone who knows anything about App St football, knows that walk ons make up a great deal of their roster. So yeah, biggest upset ever!!!

  • The way the announcer screamed was crazy

  • At ders funny rait der I don't care who you are!

  • This never gets old! GO BUCKS!! 6 IN A ROW!!!

  • I woulda given anything to be an App State fan at that game. Probably had to endure mad shit from the Michigan fans before the game, but the end of the game would have been priceless, being able to taunt pretty much everyone you see simply by pointing to your App State shirt and giving them a grin.

  • how many batteries does it take to shock a wolverine?

    just two AA.

  • @jt01212 it's actually one AA (1-AA)

  • @jt01212 How many times will a person copy and paste this exact comment from one video to another?

  • michigan is still a joke.

    this is priceless

    always will be

  • @babycomeback01 excuses, all Michigan brings to the table

  • see? i appreciate boatmak cuz they actually know their sports when you guys just like to talk trash but have no clue what your saying. like my neighbor called state a division 2 team but i said we play the same ppl but got the opposite record and didnt lost to a 1-4 team. hahaha go GREEN.

  • hahaha this was on a tv show for the best 100 top sports clips or whatever it was in the 30s i was laughing so hard. hahahaha

  • GO BADGERS!

  • I hate Michagan! Great job state!

  • Michigan like the state sucks

  • This is the greatest upset in sports history? Maybe to an App. State fan. The greatest upset in sports history is the Miracle on Ice; everything else goes behind it.

  • it is #6 FBS team beat by a FCS thats a really really big upset......

  • this is what happens when you have no respect for a team that comes in playing at 110%.... Michgian will always suck.... Go Bucks

  • Definitely the greatest upset in history, Michigan was a great team that year that had GREAT players on it's team.

The single greatest college football program of all time defeated by a pathetic Division 2 team.

The Wolverines showed just how much of an upset it was when they defeated Florida in the Capital One bowl.

Congrats to Appalachian State, the #1 upset of all time goes to you, no matter how pathetic your program is, it will always have that title.

  • lulz. app state is not pathetic at all. talk to me when any other team in college football HISTORY wins 3 national championships in a row.

  • Michigan - 1901, 1902, 1903, 1904.

  • false

  • ? what is.

  • Compared to Michigan, App. State is pathetic. Look at the two Defending Nat. Champions, FBS LSU and FCS App. State in 2008. App State got exposed, FCS top teams can't even keep up with FBS bottom feeders.

  • and yet a "pathetic" team won.....if Appy State is pathetic......what does that make "big Blue"?

how did you enjoy your 2 wins last season LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

  • @HaterisHere Why did Michigan lose then? Exactly... it's called an upset for a reason buddy

  • First game of the season, a mediocre Michigan team gets beat by the Division 2 back to back to back National Champions. Not much of an upset. Especially in ALL OF SPORTS.

  • That 'mediocre' Michigan team was riddled with injuries, (Mike Hart, Chad Henne, on and off) throughout the season, it had Jake Long on it's team (rookie pro bowler, 1st pick in the draft), Mike Hart - Michigan All-time Leading rusher, Chad Henne - All-Time Michigan passer, on the same team.

Michigan went for 500+ yards total offense vs. Florida, still managed to win even while fumbling the ball twice near the goal line, against the Heisman winner Tebow, and his right hand buddy Harvin.

  • you are dumb if you believe that. the difference between d-1a and d-1aa is like an 8th grade team playing the high school varsity team. stop with the excuses

  • haha what? Are you kidding me? A lot of these "8th graders" are in the NFL.

Its more like a 3A or 4A high school team beating a 6A high school team.

  • a lot huh? uhh....,dexter jackson was the only one from that team who even made a nfl squad. he has 0 rec. he only returned kicks. and he is currently riding the bench for tampa bay.

    cheers.

you do know that it was the first time EVER that a FCS school beat a FBS school? stop trying to make excuses for michigan. after that game they got killed by oregon.

they just came off a 3-9 season. stop trying to defend michigan, they are turing into nebraska.

  • Oh don't get me wrong I hate Michigan. But when you look at App. State's team that year, it wasn't much of an upset and the experts would agree.

By the way- that is not the first time an FCS school beat a FBS school.

  • i wouldnt call it the greatest upset. Michigan sucked tht year and app had a better team then most would credit them. they were coming in winning 2 stright division 2 titles.

  • im am app fan, but this isnt the greatest upset in sports history

  • Biggest upset in sports history = 1980 US Olympic hockey team defeating the Soviet Union. No sports contest has ever brought a nation together the way that did back in the day, especially considering the US team was made up of a bunch of college kids who didn't know much about each other and the way they played, while the Soviet team had players that had played together for most of the previous decade, and had some of the most skilled players in the world.

    Biggest sports upset, no doubt.

  • And now that game has been surpassed

    U.S 2-0 Spain

  • This is not the greatest in all of sports history at least not to me. 1980 USA vs USSR in the Olympics is the greatest upset ever in any sport. It's debateable whether or not this is even the greatest upset in college football history. It is definately top 2 or 3. I think 1950 Navy over Army was huge as was 1926 Carnegie Tech over Notre Dame where Coach Rockne skipped the game cause he thought the Irish had it won. Notre Dame snapping Oklahoma's 47 game winning streak in 1957 also was huge.

  • Fucking ridiculous statement, this is absoutely nowhere near the greatest upset in sports history. You are an idiot.

  • greatest upset in sports history??? Michigan fucking sucked that year....how can you say that was the greatest upset in sports history??? in ALL of sports history you chose this to be the greatest.......not even close.

  • Michigan went on to beat Florida and Tebow almighty in the Capitol One Bowl that season. Last year was when their wheels came completely off.

  • ur exactly right the one225, someone aggrees with me

  • i agree, 1980 olympics with USA vs. USSR was one of the greatist and this doesn't even come close, maybe in college football history, but not all of sports

  • Not even the biggest upset of the season. That honor went to Stanford over USC.

  • I don't know about college football that much, but I watched this, and this is absolutely not the biggest upset. Villanova over G-Town in 85 NCAA Basketball Tourney was better, so was UNC over Wilt Chamberlain and Kansas in 57. You are a fool.

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Lets GO MOUNTAINEERS LOL oh an fuCC Michigan OSU Fan BABY we owned u guys how many times now?? HAHAHAHAHa

  • just goes to show black and gold is better than blue and gold

  • If you look at point spreads at the end of the season, App State turned out to be a 10-point underdog, not that huge of an upset

  • not that huge?yeah.. whatever. a d1aa team when michigan is EXPECTED to go to a bcs bowl?!! yeah baby toledo kicked your ass too! fuck michigan!

  • The top 1-AA team is usually around #30 or 40 in the overall ratings and Michigan ended up around #20. It was huge at the time because Michigan was thought to be a top 5 team. This game was the first clue that they were overrated as was chanted in some of the videos :)

  • I don't care about either team, btw. I follow Pac 10 and GWC.

  • haha at the BEGINNING of the season was when the game happened. they were probably a 30 pt underdog if not more. and i would take the 50th team in the country to beat the best d1aa team.

  • Bookies don't know how good/bad teams are at the beginning of the season, so you get lots of odd point spreads in August-early Sept. It's when top sports betters can make a fortune. It was 30 points cuz they didn't get that Michigan wasn't a top 5 team and that App wasn't as good as they were. To say it was the greatest upset ever is kinda insulting to ASU. They were loaded. I'd put 1980 Olympic US Hockey way above this game even if ASU were 30-point underdogs.

  • Greatest upset in college football history? Perhaps. The greatest upset in all of sports? USA hockey against the USSR in 1980 and Ralph Sampson's #1-ranked Virginia team losing to NAIA Chaminade were bigger upsets.

  • @geoffds This was not even the biggest upset of the 2007 college football season. Stanford over USC in LA was.

  • @astrosgp You're right. I stand corrected...

  • @astrosgp WRONG. They're both 1-A. App St. was 1-AA. big difference.

  • @metzdawg3000 Wrong. You probably didn't even know App State had a 14 game winning streak going and was 2-time defending Division 1 National Champion. If point spreads were published for FCS/1-AA games, this game would have been far less than the 41 points 1-3 Stanford was given against the #1 Trojans. There are several FCS teams that are superior to FBS teams, teams aren't good or bad based strictly on what division they're in.

  • @geoffds the olympic hockey game was on neutral ice...the virginia game against chaminade was in hawaii...this game was in ann arbor!!!

  • hmmm MiSHITgan lost to ASSalachian State. Dayyumm

  • wow ur a disslecsik faaget

  • lol how could they let him get the ball just awful

  • And now I'd like to ask for a moment of silence for the Michigan football program.... NOT!

Great game. Thanks from the Big Ten!
