  • Hello there good people. I have a question. Has anyone tried this thing with the ios 5? There are numerous issues with this update, and since I'm considering buying this I need to know whether it will work now. I don't want to use only the synthstation app but also other apps (especially animoog). I would be very grateful for any input on this.

  • @Busia63 yeah, me too!!!

  • looks kinda uncomfortable for live perform

  • .......and he's the "product manager" for Akai? I'm surprised he could "manage" to get out of bed in the morning! because he sure as hell can't demo a keyboard he should know everything about! By the way, does anyone at Akai actually know how to play a keyboard? or are all these synthstations we keep seeing just mock ups and don't really work?

  • MPK49 VS SYNTH-STATION 49: WHICH IS BETTER!!! WHICH IS MORE PRODUCTIVE. WHICH HAS THE GREATER ADVANTAGES!!!!!

  • Shut up and play the damn thing!!!

  • You ready?

  • No aftertouch, no sale.

  • That guy couldn't sell a tenner for a fiver, the kit looks brilliant but he's terrible. Really bad demo, in fact he didn't even do that. Twat

  • Focusing the camera seems to be very hard.

  • I hate fake ass salesmen that dont really show you anything e.e

  • if reason propellerhead works with ipad, surely, i will get an akai synth station 49

  • does this work with Garageband?

  • Has it been released anywhere yet?

This message has been on their homepage for almost a year now:

    "Pending certification from Apple."

And a slogan that says "Create the tracks of tomorrow, today."

Maybe they should change it to "Create the tracks of today, tomorrow"

  • it's compatible with Macbook OS X 10.4.11 version?

  • I like the app, use the keyboard alot for different apps. But I just dont like the limitations to the drums, it's all so typical! Please give freedom to upload drum samps to the program, or a waveform editor for each drumsound would be great!

  • This guy talking should give some kids jobs

  • seems absolutely useless.

Why do they all try to bring all that old stuff to the iPad?

Everything on the app seems too small.

It supports Core-MIDI but has no MIDI-Interface on the Hardware-Keyboard.

The iPad is worth for more.

  • Albinorican its just like the SynthStation 25 but for iPad and is is self powered with batteries power supply or a USB cable it dose not come with sounds it's mainly a usb midi controller this is perfect for my home studio when will it be released to the public.

  • Is the ipad recieving power from the akai synth? So you wont run out of batteries? And another question, will i be able to record everything into my computers DAW?

  • can you use your own samples??? if so im getting this!

  • why only 9 pads for drums.

  • Why no MIDI io? Why??

  • is that app whit it or do you must buy it on your ipad and click your ipad in the interface of the keyboard

  • I know this may seem like a strange question but is it my imagination, or does this not have sustain and expression pedal jacks ? I'd like to think I'm wrong because I'm interested in possibly purchasing it. Wouldn't common sense dictate that omission of those two basic jacks seriously impedes it from being used as a multi-purpose controller ? Or is there some other workaround that I'm unaware of.....?

  • @AnalogX1 Oh it has a sustain jack. Pause the video at 2:36 :)

...totally amped about getting one of these...

  • does the akai 49 come with sounds and presets in side the midi keyboard

  • @MRsLee24 No, it's just a MIDI keyboard with an iPad dock (not that I'm trying to sound like a hater)

  • and there is fruityloops on ipad too :) no joke :)

  • @BillieJean900 It's not quite here yet, but yes there will be FL studio on the iPad very soon.

  • is it compatible with an iphone?

  • @luiguiyt yes but in smaller version

  • I wonder if this thing has semi-weighted keys. The Synthstation 25 feels like a playskool keyboard. Hope Akai took the word 'Pro' seriously with this one.

    Anyone know?

  • @BluBeep Apparently they used the same keyboard structure found on the MPK series which while a little stiff for my style was similar to a good piano.

  • Could you hook a EWI USB via USB in the SS49 USB port so the EWI could trigger the iPad app sounds?

  • @luk8e0 If you've got to use the EWI Aria software to manipulate it I don't like your odds. I suppose strictly speaking it could still send MIDI messages to the SS49, but I'm not sure how the iPad would handle being connected to two MIDI controllers at once.

  • go to front end audio dot

com they got all the details and free shipping

  • it work like a normal midi control only thing that is the ipad has a app for it thats it and u have some where to put it

  • is it like the regular ipad? or is it costume only for synth? please reply thanks!!

  • Is the Synthstation app necessary if you want to use the keyboard as a controller/sound card or could it used to control another music app for the iPad? For example, let's say that Reason was made as an app for the iPad, would the Synthstation keyboard function both as a midi controller and sound card for Reason?

  • yo cannnnnn some bodie pllllllleasees telll me that you dont need an ipad to use it

  • @mgmt4me if you need just a MIDI keyboard, you can play without ipad with outside gear.

  • Looks interesting. I have a synthstation25, and wondering if the 49 will work with iphones/ipod touches.

  • I'm getting excited seeing things like this. I love the features of software music production but hate mousing around. I love hardware but hate how they always pack them with the most unintuitive interfaces possible. Stuff like this is awesome and I hope more serious ipad apps will be developed for music creation.

  • @Inverted314 Im totally with you. You can check Nano Studio and Garageband for ipad.

  • @alyelo Yes, Garageband was a great addition; and Image-Line is releasing FL Studio Mobile for the iPad which is very exciting; that would be perfect to use with this keyboard. The new Samson Meteor Mic and the new Apogee Mic are also made to work with the ipad so now we have mobile recording. This could be big stuff.

  • can we use this keyboard with iPad 2 ?

  • @ANTIBOUGNFR that would be my concern as well. Would be nice if that could be cleared up.

  • midi keyboard + Ipad + program for ipad = not cheap ^^

  • no analog "in" slots anyway...so not a sampling workstation yet.

also, opened for any "mini-daw" ?? i don't think so..

  • ipad included??

  • Can i use in Fl??? If i can then im getting it

  • what about other tablits or does it only work for the Ipad?

Personally I don't think its going to work for me, cause I need a flexable memory bank to put my samples on with out limitations. Give me some feedback here.

  • Thumbs up if you think it looks like a small Korg OASYS

  • Can I trigger samples from your application?

  • Akai should really show you how it plays, they never do " look at all the cool buttons"I'm seriously thinking of getting an I pad and also thinking of getting a cheap controller instead of these very expensive boards. I just bought the new Omnisphere and Trillion software, Oh crap is it sweet. Well the company I deal with always lets me try things out for a couple of months, yet I hate jacking around with their good nature.

  • Thanks for playing it. This is like just telling someone how fast a car is while it is parked.

  • WFT!How does it sound?

  • this is scary powerful!!

  • they need to come out with one for android ...fuck a ipad

  • does this come with the ipad?

  • @LongWal1 The iPad costs about $500, and this keyboard costs $200, so I would say extremely unlikely.

I does come with the App.

  • sounds like he had too much caffeine...

  • @copher1990 hahah.. it sounds like he has no idea at all!.. :)
