  • 16 candles down the drain in Seattle

  • She's gorgeous. 2:41

  • i love this one!!!

  • Is it me, or does the singer look like a cleaner version of Scott Weiland? :)

  • @TheShadowMystik He does. I also think he sounds a little bit like him too. Check out his other project Spys4Darwin, which also features members from Queensryche and Alice in Chains.

  • love it!

  • fucking amazing

  • Post grunge? Wtf lets just make up shit while we go along. The genre thing is out of hand man. Heavy music is good. Everything else is shit. No need to split hairs.

  • Great song!

  • am i the only one who knows that this is about rolling balls on Molly(MDMA)...which is the best drug ever in my opinion :)

  • 1992-1999 music is leaps and bounds better than now!

  • This melody is timeless!! Pure, premium, euphoric sound, man.

  • yeah!!!!!!!!!! is this my new band favorite! i am sorry i don´t speak english

  • I love this song. Probably more than I should.

  • funny how u come across gr8 tunes like this through the old p2p networks which not many ppl kno about (b4 p2p was corrupted). a classic.

  • So glad to hear that rytious people still groove to good music these days.

  • This song is based on Molly Ringwald, right? I figured because 'Molly' is the name of the song, and they say '16 candles down the drain' and '16 Candles' is one of her most famous movies. Anybody know?

  • @TheSparklepantz yes it was inspired by Molly Ringwald

  • i actually have this albums sitting around my house somewhere...its really good,to be honest their best,id say these guys were some of the founders of "post grunge" basically

  • Damn it what ever happend to this band?I useto smoke some bud while listening to the radio!! and this song would always come out in California.......does anybody know?? Just another lost classic!

  • @Abrahmelon i'm going to see them tonight in poughkeepsie!

  • @Loud0glbc You saw them play live recently?????Wish I was their.....we would be blazing a fat blunt.....How was the show by the way?

  • @Abrahmelon they played great. we were eating dinner at the bar next door and they came in. we started playing their music on the jukebox and got some pictures with them. Vince still sounds awesome.

  • @Loud0glbc I hope you didn't call him Vince

  • @Abrahmelon I saw them a few yrs. ago at the intersection........'twas awesome! Recommended!

  • Used to hate this song as a teen, but glad I stumbled upon it.

  • its 2011 and i still think that girl is preaty, more than other girls today.

  • @SLASHERamc Ya shes bangin bro

  • Fuck Eminem, fuck Kid Rock and fuck ICP, this is the best band out of Detroit!

  • @jaybrad77 White Stripes??

  • @jaybrad77 You are 100% right. Those 3 aren't worthy of washing Sponge's laundry.

  • @jaybrad77 Man....you can't compare this guys with eminem, kid rock and ICP....its another genre dude...sponge band is punk.....eminem and ICP are rappers....kid rock is a country singer.....that's really doesn't make sense at all.....wtf man...

  • @badboyz844 Did you just say Sponge was punk? You may as well say Eminem is blues then

  • @antigov84 Good.....when did i say eminem is blues? i said eminem is a rapper wtf.....you really don't know what music is. and btw im wrong with the sponge genre. sponge genre is post-grunge not punk. I don't know so much about sponge i just found them.

  • @jaybrad77 don't hate on eminem, couldn't care about the other 2 though

  • @jaybrad77 better than the Stooges?

  • @nicktaxidermy hell fuckin nah

  • @jaybrad77 yes to eminem and icp but no way on kid rock, ted nugent, and alice cooper

  • @jaybrad77 Ohh Helll Yeahhhh Hombre! Dammm straight Home Slice!

  • I was SIXTEEN when the song rocked the charts!

(I am about to turn 32 this month -_-)

  • @yessicaflores79 same here!!!

  • GOD BLESS THE 90'S! Glad I got to experience all the cool stuff like skip it's and nerf footballs and bands that came out that decade. Now this decade is all about social media and a voice behind a computer. Bring me back!

    -Mr90sdude

  • Man, I could really go for a taco right now

  • Oh, too look back at the years gone by.. all the people I was kissing,, some are here and some are missing... and she's one of the ones who got lost along the way.. 16 candles down the drain, indeed.. Thanks for this awesome video! the 90's will rock forever!

  • All for Bob and Bob for none.. RUN BOB, RUN!

  • So... is this song supposed to be ABOUT something? An incident from one of the band member's high school days, perhaps? A love affair that didn't quite happen? Something of that nature?

  • @grupy3178 It's about the singer finding an old girlfriend dead in a bathtub. She killed herself because he said he didn't love her. The singer than regrets not loving her.

  • SPONGE LO MAXIMO!

  • reminds me of a time i could turn on the radio and hear artists who made music not like now where all we have is studio products being pimped by their labels

  • Is this guy imitating Scott Weiland or the other way around??

  • This song haunted me for the last 17 yrs.All I knew was the band name started with S and it was the mid 90's. Thanks for posting it!!!

  • Sound quality sucks.

  • @jro421 It was the 90's- what do you expect?

  • a good tune from the 90's

  • I'm so glad bands like this still tour and spread their awesome jams, THANK YOU.

  • Such a beautiful song, it always made me want to date a girl named Molly.

  • I still love this song. My gym started playing this tune, made me feel like I was 16 again...

  • nah, this is a song about Molly Ringwald.

  • im 16.

  • @samweisberg this is definitely the same version as Molly on Rotting Pinata. The sound is muddy and weird in this song, but he absolutely says "hands". How in the world anyone could get cigarette stains on their ass, I don't know. To me it even sounds like "don't ask why" could be "don't ass why" - lol!

  • Molly is Soooooooo Hottttttt

  • was that fn Bowie?

  • … don't ask why.

  • this is a different version from the one on "rotting pinata," right? he definitely says "ass" instead of "hands" at the beginning...and the whole thing sounds dirtier overall

  • @samweisberg i agree the album version is much more heavy and is ass not hands

  • that was effinb g LOOOOONNNGG!!!

    i know joeY SPPED mazzerelli

  • I remember when the Billboard Top 20 had 20 songs on it that I loved. I believe this one peaked at 11 in 1995 (the golden years of music during my lifetime were 1994 and 1995).

Now I look at the Billboard Top 100 (just looked) and there are exactly 2 songs on that whole list that I like. At any point there might be 3 or 4 at one time, but music, generally, is a shell of what it used to be.

  • @rm630610 yah back when the mainstream was actually full of so much talent and phenominal artists, now.....egh now its just embarrassing

  • @jsh020 Now it's all Katy Perry, Kesha, Lady Gaga, all those rapper gangster thugs on the radio. God I miss the 90s.

  • @CallahanSFPD yah, hey me and a few friends are talking about how the 90's is slowly making a comeback, ok lets eee theres a shit ton of bands from the 90's that have reunited like bush, smashing pumpkins, garbage ext, theres a bunch of small time bands like polar bear club and balance composure joy forrmidable gaining alot of popularity, ad it goes on i dont want to describe all that conversation but to keep it short while it may not be as big as they it was int he 90's the 90's are coming back

  • @jsh020 The thing is that even though all these great 90's bands are making a comeback, doesn't mean the world is going to be like i was back in the 90's. I mean I know times change and all but I really don't like the world the way it is today.

  • @mtzxple :'(

  • The 90s. When women had short hair and men had long hair.

  • @maxeomai girls with short hair are hot

  • @maxeomai 2000's women have no hair and men have short hair.

  • @tedGEGI it's "cigarette stains on your HANDS" - LOL!!!!

  • @MikaMakesMeHappy I always thought it was Ass too .. lol

  • "cigarette stains on your ass"-----wow,she don't know how to smoke......

  • It IS about Molly Ringwald. Which makes this song rule even more.

  • Why are there so many fucking songs about a girl named Molly ...Nirvana Molly's lips, MSI Molly, incubus anna molly WTF

  • @Hankd7812 keen observation. I have heard of MDMA referred to as "Molly" before, wonder if that might have something to do with it.

  • I miss the 90's. 80's music really such. all the hair band sang about the same stupid things, they all sounded the same. the 90's were better because everyone had different styles. And the song were about more relevent issues other than about slutty girls and stupid crap like that.

  • This video brings back so many bad memories, but I miss them :(

  • I think this song is catchier than Plowed.

  • so, this song is not about Molly Ringwald?

  • Was that Kurt Loder at the end holding the camera?

  • I love this song!! Thank you for posting!!! I never saw this video or band in concert. I was too young to go :( I always love this song and "Plowed"!!! :)

  • this was easer to find than last time I looked for this song.

  • zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • At the beginning of the song it sounds like he's saying , "cigerette stains on your ass". lol. I like this song though.

  • @Juliansworld I'm sure your the first person to think that. LoL

  • mesquite barbeque chips are awesome.

  • great song----80s and 90s music----"you're just a mem-mory" to quote Mick Jagger

  • Nostalgia at its finest. <3

  • sweet song

  • Good ol' 90's rock. There's still good music out there, but you just have to look for it. You just can't turn the tv on or the radio anymore.

  • I miss my ex today boohoo

  • Reminds me of a great time in my life.

  • @FraulineChelle

Yeah ... what happened to modern rock? ...even emo is dead...not sure what genre is next .... we have to be open minded except for one thing: Radio stations like WHTG FM 106.3 modern rock at the Jersey Shore don't exist any more ...so, it's not likely I'll be listening to the next Sponge any time soon...

  • I've made it a habit recently to walk into the Newbury Comics near my house and ask them if they have a copy of Rotting Pinata in yet. When they finally do, my friend and I are going to scan it on their sample headphones and rock out in the aisle to this album.

  • Another great band out of Detroit!!!!

  • My brother bought the album while living in the US 6 or 7 years ago (I'm from Argentina) great album.. I discovered them thanx to the Empire Records movie.. first time I watch the video... and Plowed -Amazing!- the singer reminds me Scott Weiland, the way he moves... =P wanna go back to the 90's!!!!

  • Great song.

  • I don't remember this song. The only song I can remember from this band was Plowed. I just found out after 16 yrs that it was Sponge that sung that song. I had always thought that it was Social Distortion.

  • It’s not just Sponge but I hear lot of people use the word “Grunge” to describe a band just because they got big in the 90s. That’s not true though. Sponge isn’t grunge I don’t think. Neither is Collective Soul. Or Beck or Better than Ezra. Maybe Live,Alice in Chains,Sound Garden..those guys were grunge.

  • Nothing can ever compare to watching these guys in Mount Pleasant, Michigan in front of a sold out 100 person crowd at good ol' Rubbles. They would tour with the Dirty Americans when they first came out around 2000. Some fun times from what I remember. Vinnie does rock, real nice guy!

  • Comment removed

  • @paleopeneyes I never said anything about grunge, thanks for the response to echors123 post just ahead of mine tho. I also didn't realize it was necessary for anyone to defend a band based on what they assume. If u know so much about this so called record exec, and u are so sure Alice in Chains disliked the "grunge" label, find the guy and avenge Layne's death for me...

  • @THillCMU So you realized the comment wasn't for you.. yet you're such a lonely loser that you went ahead and provided a snarky response to it anyway? Wow, I feel bad for you, dude. As if that wasn't embarrassing enough for you, you go ahead and ask me to "avenge layne's death".. as if that had anything at all to do with my comment. You're without a doubt a goddamned retard. Unless you're twelve or something. But you're probably not. You probably are just this crappy of a person.

  • @paleopeneyes Ok there tough guy... How do you know it had nothing to do with his death? Maybe he was so pissed off he went and did a whole bunch of H.... I know of another "so called" grunge rocker doing something very similar when his band got too big. What was the name of his band again? Oh yeah Nirvana... Seems like a plausible scenario. Anyways, you were the one who called me out in the first one, it wasn't my fault you clicked the wrong name... So don't pin this on me. Ass

  • Vinnie Dombrosky is the man!!!!! Plain and simple.

  • 07Fox Mulder

But then he follows that line with "on your note(suicide) was me reply"...and of course the whole "16 candles down the drain"....

  • For me the lyrics don't matter - it's the music that makes this an incredible song. I'm not sure why a song that may have a sad meaning would have such an upbeat feeling musically, but I don't care. I just love hearing it. I think I'll listen to it again.

  • This song is not about Molly Ringwald. Listen to the lyrics, its about a guy who finds his girlfriend in the tub after she has killed herself. Great song....very sad lyrics.

  • @forlife61 doesn't one of the lyrics say "i touch your face you start to smile"? i thought it was about a suicide, too, but that line threw me off.

  • I remember seeing this video in 1995 flying to London, I was pretty young and it was my first time

  • Sponge was one of the bands playing at the first concert I ever went to back in 1995.

  • you forgot about Sponge?!?!?! please ask the next person you see to slap you for rock ignorance! one of the most underrated bands in rock history!

  • this is an anthem for the 90's,, how could you not feel "that feeling" when you hear this, i thihnk of all the movies and music from then when i hear this,, so fkn awesome, also plowed from them does to, spacehog, ahhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • Fuck yeah!!! I haven't heard this since the 90's. What a good era of music. I'm lucky to have come up in that time period.

  • Saw them recently.. still sound great... They live in Detroit still and just did a cool Fire dept.charity event... Meet them at a bar..40 bucks.. ride a bus with them drinking to 5 bars around town where they would sit in with each band for a bit till the next bar and then back to the starting bar... My girl didn't want to go... I shoulda gone without her..

  • @MrMixdin HAHA!

  • I think this song was written for Molly Ringwald, one of her movies was called Sixteen Candels.

  • luv

  • Such a great song.. That riff rules!

  • classic!!

  • @erieeric 1872?????

  • @escorpionlm igualmente. la nostalgia me pega como un tren cuando oigo esta musica de cuando era joven y en high school (disculpa pero no puedo escribir el espanol muy bien).

  • this song is so good

  • This should have been on the Sixteen Candles soundtrack, right Susan?

  • Timeless.

  • As someone who still goes to Sponge shows now and then, it's great to see Vinny still rocks. And even with the new members, Sponge still puts on a fantastic show

  • I remember back in 98' or 99 lead singer got arrested at a performance in Tulsa for saying "Fuck" on stage after the promoters and police told him not too..Sponge Rocks

  • I was 16 when this song came out.

    Really reminds me of highschool.

  • Love the guitar in the second verse! Song brings me back to my teens

  • man this is an awesome song :D

  • I'm going to have to dig out this CD when I get home. Forgot how great it was!

  • BRING BACK THE 90'S! BRING BACK THE 90'S! BRING BACK THE 90'S!

  • @HighOnLife1985 I totally agree

  • @HighOnLife1985 You can say that again, pal. :)

  • EPIC TUNE!!So takes me back to high school makin out behind the bleachers. AH the 90s. Cant we just go back?!?

  • This is one of my all time favorite songs.

  • I haven't heard this in years! Brings back great memories. I have to go find this CD (buried in my closet somewhere) and put in on my ZUNE right way!

  • Yes, that's right. This video wasn't here one year ago. Thank you for uploading it!

  • Good days, good music

is awesome come back to my times

  • Love, love, love them-sucks that the only music I seem to like is all from the early to late 90s;)

  • @catwoman34 Hey that doesn't suck! Music at its best back then! Its been downhill ever since!

  • @catwoman34 ,Uhh yup, you're the typical "Grunge" fan alright.

Well that sucks, none of you Bastards seem to at least freaking TRY to accept any Rock band today....you guys make me sad.

  • @slipknotlyrics So what newer rock bands do you think are awesome?

  • Comment removed

  • @slipknotlyrics Well actually Slipknot is one of my favorite bands...I was talking about the crap they play on 'popular' radio.I also like Disturbed,CKY,AFI,and others.Peace buddy.

  • @catwoman34 ,I don't even like Slipknot...not anymore at least, this is my cousin's account. I'm actually a huge Alternative Rock fan, that's what I started with. It just offends me that most Rockers that love Grunge, don't like Alternative bands today...which I have no problem with,I just don't see how someone could Love Grunge music, but hate the following bands that were Influenced by those Grunge bands. It's kinda sad if you think about it.If it wern't for Grunge,God knows what we'd have today.

  • @slipknotlyrics dude not me... am a 90s rock fan. i like mostly all 90s music but, thoses boy bands and the hip hop fags. long live grunge :'(

  • Remembering my "youth" when I gave even less of a fuck, but ......

  • I totally agree with PKP405 and Gizmo 524..and in all fairness to young music lovers today..MTV is partially to blame. It isn't selling true talent that just might be out there! Kids are only being fed stupid $h!t like jersey shore. I have the OLD MTV to thank for introducing me to Sponge :)

  • @trippiehippie7

The main problem with MTV is that the forgot that they are Music network. The last couple of years I witnessed MTV en Espanol, a great music channel that played a diverse mix, turn into a Shitty and Appeasing Garbage like MTV 3! Regretfully great music these days can only be found on the Internet and strictly searching outside of the mainstream.

  • I masturbated to this song when I was 12...

    ...and just did...again.
