  • I just put mine up on eBay, I have a video and link in my videos. Go for it! CHEAP!!!

  • it went for $9.90 says the price tag on mine.

  • Seems hard if you can't get more than one grappling hook

  • haha nice poster on the door

  • awesome.i wanted that game when i was a wee lad but never got it.i got burgertime handheld instead.

  • Man, I would have loved to have this back in the day. I remember trying to code Hunt the Wumpus in QBASIC on my old 286, but something was wrong with the random number generation, so every time you made your first move you'd run into bats and flee directly into the wumpus chamber. lol

  • @HiroGaems Thats AWESOME that your attempted to create a program to run the Wumpus game. Just awesome.

  • @MAMECADE Haha... I used to mess around with BASIC a lot back then. Made some of the simplest, most juvenile text adventures ever in those days. ;)

  • heh heh.. I didn't know Wumpus was from other games. I only knew it as the cave dweller in the old C64 game, M.U.L.E.

  • What does this have to do with MAME or the arcade? I'm unsubbing immediately...

    LOL. Kidding! :-)

  • @vintagevideogamegeek Well, If we take the "M" from "I'm" and the "A" from "What" and another "M" from "Immediately" combine it with the "E" from "Does" and it spells M.A.M.E., pretty amazing huh?

  • @MAMECADE I don't get it.

  • My mom has this game! But she says that it needs new batteries, and she doesn't have the correct type of battery for it :P

  • @MattT1996 It uses 2 two A76 batteries or A76 compatibles.

  • @MattT1996 today a LR44 pill battery is the same as the old A76

  • @BlazonWrath Without a doubt, this can be one infuriating game to play.

  • They also released a "HeMan Masters of the Universe" version of the exact same style of game.

  • @SnapCraft316 Yes, I have heard of that but never got to see one. What's the premise behind the He-Man game? He-Man has to find an arrow to kill a dragon?

  • Hmmm...Seems like a handheld version of ET. Constantly falling into pits.

  • great collectors piece!

  • Forget the 3DS, THIS kicks ASS! :-D

  • I just saw that you added me as a friend, i dont know why, but i checked you out and I like the cut of your jib! consider yourself subscribed!

  • @aderier I thank you, as does my Jib.

  • @MAMECADE Only good Dungeons & Dragons videogames were the two Arcade games made by Capcom if you get a chance review those two games on MAMECADE.

  • I never knew they had one of those.

  • @Explorer561 I glad you got to see something you hadn't heard about before. That's cool.

  • Nice review Mamecade.

I remember the countless hours i spent with Snoopy Tennis on Game and Watch.

In fact i think it was the last game i was any good at!

  • @rawhide2803 I remember Snoopy Tennis. Oh what good LCD memories.

  • Great review. I never had any Mattel LCD games but had a few from Nintendo's 'Game and Watch' series, Donkey Kong being my favourite. Those things were damn solid too, like the one in the review - built to last. Not like the throwaway electronics of today.

  • @NoUsernameAvailable Yes, they certainly were built to last!

  • @RNRgammer Simple and fun.

  • @xTHExSTIGx You're welcome, if anyone would appreciate this game it would be you, as you have to hunt and kill the dragon with a bow and arrow. The game is tailor made for you Stig.

  • up!

    ema

    cortonotte

  • @cortonotte Ummm ok if you say so.

  • I smell a wumpus !!

  • @mathowlett Is that what that smell is?

  • That's a cool little game for it's time, i'd still rather this than a DS.

In a strange way i think this was used in a way to help in the design of Nintendo's Zelda dual screen game and watch!

  • @NeonGenesisPlatinum Nintendo pioneered the clam shell design of early LCD games that you can easily follow trough today. Mattel was never big on the clam design.

  • That is awesome that you managed to keep the original box. The text on the box would really have gotten my interest back in the day. Still do. Actually quite exited to see what it is all about actually.

No way 'Hunt the Wumpus' I haven't heard that name for decades, literally.

One really needs to use your memory to make a mental map o fhe maze - which I guess is generated randomly each time you start the game.

Love the styling. I don't think I ever saw this in the toy-stores back in the day.

  • @markvergeer Why doesnt it surprise me that you're familiar with Hunt the Wumpus Mark? You're like an encyclopedia.

The Wumpus system translated to a obviously good choice for a dungeon & dragons themed game.

  • Do the positions of the pits change each time you play, or could you go through and map it?

  • @greggraffin Completely randomized each time you play. The only way to map the game is as your playing that particular one. Starting a new game places 12 pits randomly throughout the maze, as well as the magic arrow, bat and dragon.

  • I remember this one. I was not a patient gamer, so I kind of gave up on it. My friend had this one back in the day, and a He-Man one that was similar IIRC.

I did own a pretty sweet CRAZY CLIMBER from Bandai. And a clock/stopwatch/game of EPOCH-MAN. Both very, very cool handhelds.

  • @crazyclimber80 Bandai had some pretty cool products back in the day.

  • Screw PS3, I'm buying this instead!

  • @ArcadeGames Awesome! It is a fun little gem of a game.

  • Cool, I never seen that game before.

  • @starsoldier1 Awesome Starsoldier1, I'd glad I got to show you something different. And you've seen them all.

  • Most excellent! I've shockingly never seen this one, and I'm a huge D&D fan as well as lcd handheld collector. Goin' on the kill list for sure!

  • @RetroRoadshow Thanks Crow, I hope you find a good clean looking one.

  • I remember back in the early 80s, whenever we would visit my grandparents house, this LCD game would always just be laying around somewhere in the living room, and I would always play it. Took me several plays to figure out what was going on (never read the manual), but it was a pretty fun game to play.

  • @Croooow111 That's an awesome memory Croooow. Thanks for sharing that. I love the nostalgia of it.

  • I love the old LCD games from the 80's. Though I am not big into D&D this looks like an interesting little game, I may have to pick it up at some point in the future. Thanks for sharing John!

  • @911BONEZ Cool Jared, I hope you find one in box. It's a nice collector's item. Anything electronic licensed by TSR is cool to have.

  • Cool! I been getting into old electronic games lately, it's a whole different experience!

  • @MaximumRD I saw your recent LCD game video and I was impressed.
