As for the audition, think about this video every time she performs on the show, and you'll understand the tears. The "ugly duckling" is discovering she's a beautiful swan.
If this woman doesn't steal your heart, you don't have one. THe smile of terror on her face after she sings brings tears to my eyes. She is fantastic! Can't quit watching!
