Hi, i have read through all the comments, i am just wondering if you still have your horse as i might be able to help you, but its too long to explain in the comments contact me if your interested.
My boy cannot be left out in winter :-( he panics and is miserable. He is not interested in toys/mirrors/licks and is under veterinary supervision to avoid damage to his structure where possible. We have tried obstacles which resulted in him cutting himself quite badly. If you put a headcollar on him he stops and once he settles down for the night he stops and doesn't start until 5am which is when we turn him out.
It has nothing to do with claustrophobia. Wind sucking, cribbing, box walking and weaving are all caused because the horse is being taken from his natural habitat by us. It is a result of boredom, stress or pain.
You need to stop it cos it can cause serious damage to muscles, tendons, or legs. Firstly his stable looks a bit small for him and secondly you could place obsticles (that he can't hurt himself on) in his stable so he has to walk around them. Also try bordom breakers like a treat ball and a hanging lick or carrots on strings.
