In Dragon Quest VIII, when you visit an Inn during the day, you're given the choice of "stay overnight," or "rest until evening." So, yeah, once you learn the Zoom spell, you can pretty much make it night whenever you want. Dragon Quest IX is like this, too.

Also, I believe that there's a character in Dragon Quest V who (eventually) learns a spell that can toggle day and night at will.

@bigjays622 I know (from playing it now) that in the DS version of dragon quest IV, you get an item that turns it to night and the inns can turn it to day... and since you get that item pretty much at the very start, you have it for most of the game (just not in the parts where you don't have the party members that find it)

Know what I find interesting? This is supposedly Lise's storyline, but Hawk is doing all the talking because that is the one who is talking to everyone who has the main dialog. So.....yeah, just something I saw.

@TheUnusualStranger That's because HC, as player 1, took control of Hawk. But even without that, he has a LOT of dialogue in all the storylines - the developers had the same favorite as HCBailly.

In Dragon quest 9 you can make it either day or night time by spending the night or going to sleep until the sunsets. It doesn't affect the monsters, but it does affect some quests.

In DQ VIII as long as your outside of a town it gradually becomes night. That system is also in the DS version of DQ IV, i thought you said you were played the DS version of DQ IV

hcbailly if youre going to be controlling hawk why didnt you just start with him in the beggining instead of making this lises path and making it hawks path

@kkkirlia If Lise is not your main character (although I'm not sure this is possible if Hawk is the main character), it is possible depending on how things go that the ending will be different (and bad...., no spoilers). Carlie also has a possible variant bad ending if she's not the main character. Angela has a variable ending too, but it's actually sort of a good one. However, I don't think HC had this in mind, so perhaps there's another reason such as.....

@ff2paladin .... I believe (though I'm not sure), that if Carlie is your main character, Karl is not brought back to life in the middle of the game as he would be if Kevin is your main character (not sure whether or not Kevin's presence effects this).

Hm, not sure if you knew HCBaily, but you can stock past 9 of any given item. There's an item storage menu, so you can switch out, restock and such. Really handy if you ever have to grind on dungeons later on. I have a personal problem with overspending on items because of this little benefit heh.
