The thing is, she wrote it very poorly. Bella was way too flat, emotionless, and whiney constantly complaining about the affections of a deranged vampire with commitment issues who constantly tells her to avoid him because he wants to and can easily kill her at the slightest provocation. Jacob was hardly any better.
