i do think this moment was very significant. i remember shedding a few tears when i first saw this. from this moment, i was prepared to be blown away by this game -- and evidently, so was nearly everyone. unfortunately, twilight princess was disappointing to me, to the extent that i actually felt foolish for having inflated my hopes so much just because of the game's visual style. i actually still suspect that the game's overly warm reception right after release was partly due to this.

@babyblueg4o9 hmmm, my initial comment sounds a bit harsh, looking back. it was a great game. however, to me it wasn't as impressive as most of its predecessors. when i say i was disappointed i don't mean that it's a bad game, simply that i had very high hopes for it that weren't quite met. blame it on the zelda series being so damn good :P

@dylz I thought Twilight Princess was good back in the day, I'm a ps3 gamer, but recently I cracked open my old gamecube to run through some games - Twilight Princess has had me hooked since. I would say it is the best Zelda. Shame Nintendo never took advantage of the GCNs texturing capabilites - but again 1.5gb discs probably meant they couldn't!

@dylz yeah, I didn't enjoy it as much in 2006, as I have now. I thought back then it was very good, but not the best. Now having returned it seems exceptional - TP has aged incredibly well. It's graphics are great for its generation - lighting (wow!), character and world design are astounding, but it was the textures that pissed me off - simply because Rebel Strike 3 GCN featured massive areas with intricately detailed and bump mapped textures - I wanted TP to be the same too!

I can't beleive I got excited over this back then... This trailer is the epitome of everything I DON'T want the series to become... for the most part, this trailer barely reflects the final product, so crisis sort of averted... though now the fanbase has a big boner for this generic style of Zelda.

@hyliaman I don't see a problem with having alternating styles. OoT went for sort-of-realism, then WW came along and was stunningly beautiful.

TP could have followed suit had they kept the original designs for the twilight realm instead of opting for BLOOM 'N' BLOOM 2: ELECTRIC BLOOMALOO, NOW WITH ADDED BLOOM.

At least SS had a strong art direction though.

This sort of reaction will never occure again.

For six years, we got a cartoony young Link, and then out of the blue, without even mentioning the new Zelda, Nintendo whips this teaser out at E3.

The trailer showed that mature, dark realistism that The Legend of Zelda fans had been yearning for on a modern system, wrapped in exciting battle sequences with a cherry on top: the awesome dramatic music straight from the memorable Ocarina of Time commercial.

Perfect timing and presentation.

Fans would have been happy to see it, but nowhere near the level of elation as this pleasant surprise brought. It's kinda like sex. Banging the same chick gets less exciting every time. And much like your premature orgasm for her, your nerdgasm for Zelda will depress over time. I hope this PG13 metaphore helps to put things into perspective.

I actually think Skyward Sword is gonna be more fun than Twilight Princess anyways. TP was awesome as hellz for lots of reasons, but I think SS will have some pretty sweet gameplay. I like the idear of implementing the Wii Motion+. Unfortunately, my pessimist senses are tingling, telling me the enemies will still be easy-peasy, but at least it'll be more interesting to dispatch them. And from what I hear, the overall layout of the game is a big improvement.

@FalconCrestlover73 I know right, to this day Wind Waker looks crisp and beautiful. When I did another replay of Twilight Princess I thought, "This game is looking duller every day..." People who say Skyward Sword's graphics are worse than TP's don't know what they're saying. It looks smooth where TP looked jagged. Nevertheless, TP was still awesome but it felt like Nintendo just made it to get the graphic whores to shut up.

That's the problem nowadays. People continuously watch trailers, clips, screenshots and spoilers to their hearts content and are subconsciously building their on rendition of the game in their heads. And when the game actually comes out, people's hopes are obviously dashed. Unless you have the ability to separate gameplay with wishful thinking, I recommend that you not watch potential Skyward Sword Spoilers; it will steal the experience that you want in the game if you do.

@xDaigurenHyorinmarux The ending was rushed: Zant was a way better villain than Ganon so there was really no reason to retcon him into the plot, and the game ran pretty much the same as OoT for the most part. Also, I wanted to use the spinner more. I liked the game, don't get me wrong, but for a Zelda game it was pretty lacking.
