Arab music is completely influenced by Iranian music.. during the islamic invasion this spread from china in the east and to iberian peninsula in the west. @BEYADEHVATAN I only partially agree. Music from neighbouring countries has influences from several cultures. The original piece of Shah Dumad is very different from Rita's. Undoubtedly, the basis is Persian, but there is a Balkan sound to certain places of it, which cannot be found anywhere else in the world, but on the Balkans.

As when you say what is the origin in balkan music the origin can be traced to churh music and choires..which suited the lifestyle of their ancestors while nomadic groups invented most ancient musical instruments. If you would to research balkan instruments and dances you find the dajre, tamburitza, Cemane (kemenche), davul, zurla (zurna), kaval etc are derived from iran.

use many many Iranic loanwords. Balkan is turkish word for Sharp mountains. Gypsies are from northern india. There are only a handfull of people responsible for the spread of music and culture. you ask yourself what would be of the balkans if not for developments of native instruments in iran and the turkish invasion of the balkans which led to this music style.

Read the history and the medieval instruments that are being used to form this special sound very much different then the usual churh music,
