@angeschmiert dude, cut him some slack; how long has it been since YOU played a Genesis game? There wasn't as much hand holding back in the 16 bit era difficulty wise, the only video games that top the 16 bit eras difficulty are both Ninja Gaidens on the current consoles. Besides, Axel was never very good against the last boss anyway; the best guys were always Max or Skate.

Dang right! I got this game in 1992 when I was 3 years old, it (along with Sonic 2) were my first Sega Genesis games, and my first videogames ever. Amazing! I used to play this game ALL the time, until I was about 10 years old and got a Playstation, and I still played it some after that, this game just never got old.
I still had the Genesis and a bunch of games in great working condition, I was letting my grandparent's BORROW the console and games at their house since I wasn't playing it anymore and kids would get bored there, so this way kids would have something to do on visits. Well a few years ago they got sold off a bunch of games without saying ANYTHING to me or asking if I wanted them back, talk about rude. Streets of Rage 2 was included, they said it was "too violent". My favorite game!! =(
I used to respect MR.X like whatnot, at least until Streets of rage 3/bare knuckle 3! Why? Well he removed his brain, put it into some machine that allows him to control a stupid boss robot that moves consist mostly of idiotic spinning and that has a major weakness that makes it possible to defeat him without losing anything. Now why the hell would a guy that has everything want to do THAT?!?!
How badass do you have to be to watch your ninja henchman fight it out with an intruder, see him lose to said intruder, then flick your cigar, get out of your chair, and break the guy's jaw with the butt of your gun as soon as you stand up?
lol the slap with the back of the weapon was madd funny. Also I loved that combo to upper cut finish at 1:31 oh do i miss streets of rage. Even if they remake i dont think it would be as good as the original. seeing as they are remaking games now. and I quote "Super Punch Out" for the Wii. But it's a fun game too. but nothing like Streets of Rage. I think this was the first game well i played during that time period to have a way to mix in combos to special moves for a side scroll action game.
I've played many 2D brawlers throughout the years, some with super moves, "better" graphics, more characters, but in the end most end up being pretty shallow in gameplay compared to Streets Of Rage (in particular 2 and 3). In its simplicity, the game has all the right tools for certain situations, as well as the ability to link up your moves in combos leading into specials. Heck most brawlers usually have knockdown hits that prevent combos.
I know that's the name of the name of the move, but are you sure that's what he says? Cause that's the worst recording since 'tatsumakisenpukyaku' if it is!
Well... Japanese voice actors for video games are notorious for their 'Engrish' pronunciation of English words (think Geese Howard), so that could be the reason.
This really was a good fight. A Challenging final stage for a challenging game. It was always fun brawling it up endlessly with the goons in the final fight.
i always thought it was cool how it was realistic enough that Mr.X could shoot his own guys. The game creators easily could have made it really gay and had the bullets fly right through them.

And a Suzaku drops from the ceiling in a flying kick, hitting me good. Gosh, that HURT to say the least.:P
This game, as I said, brought the most charismatic FOES on a beat-em-up game, which is another big thumbs-up. Who agrees?

Play it on a ROM like I do, I use a PSP emulator but you can play it on your PC with another emulator.
Also check out "Streets of Rage Remake", just google for it, great remake.

Even if they remake i dont think it would be as good as the original. seeing as they are remaking games now. and I quote "Super Punch Out" for the Wii. But it's a fun game too. but nothing like Streets of Rage. I think this was the first game well i played during that time period to have a way to mix in combos to special moves for a side scroll action game.

You know, Im very much glad to hear this.
I've played many 2D brawlers throughout the years, some with super moves, "better" graphics, more characters, but in the end most end up being pretty shallow in gameplay compared to Streets Of Rage (in particular 2 and 3). In its simplicity, the game has all the right tools for certain situations, as well as the ability to link up your moves in combos leading into specials. Heck most brawlers usually have knockdown hits that prevent combos.

Yeah, he always opens up with the rifle butt.
That rifle is the best melee weapon in the game, I wish I could keep it. Mr. X can keep the bullets though, they're useless!

Well... Japanese voice actors for video games are notorious for their 'Engrish' pronunciation of English words (think Geese Howard), so that could be the reason.

i always thought it was cool how it was realistic enough that Mr.X could shoot his own guys. The game creators easily could have made it really gay and had the bullets fly right through them.
