I was a young boy in the 1930s, my folks bought a Red Fox record, I still have it along with a lot of Jimmie Rodgers Records. These are childhood memories and excellent memories.
That is really cool! Did you grow up in North Carolina where the Red Fox Chasers were from? Thanks for stopping by, and come back soon. Take care, Brian
@BBYMRLCCOTN I was born in Kansas in 1927, I remember these on the radio and my parents records. I grew up during the Great Depression and lived thru the Dirty 30s (Dust Bowl).
My Grandpa was born in 1932 in the upper Midwest, and traveled the country with his family as migrant workers. He really had to grow up fast, and learn how to work hard and do with very little. The lessons he learned back then have been past onto his children, and they passed them along to me and my cousins. There were a lot of people that were "dusted out" back then. Did your family farm at all? Great to hear from you, and have a great evening, Brian
I could be wrong, but I thought the title of this tune was "In The Sweet Bye and Bye"? Whatever the title, it's a pleasure to listen to it! Thanks BBYMRLCCOTN for all of the fantastic posts!
Good morning! I agree, the internet has been a huge blessing for preserving and sharing this old music. I'm glad you enjoyed this old hymn. They sure were talented! Be sure to check out the other videos on my channel. I have posted almost 1000 old time recordings from the 20's & 30's. Hope you enjoy listening to them, and I hope you have a great day, Brian
They sure were! They recorded for Gennett Record Company between 1928-1931. I have 4 parts of a skit I will put up sometime of them playing a bunch of old fiddle tunes while making "Corn Likker". Should be fun. Thanks for watching and for your continued support of my channel! Have a wonderful day, Brian
This is great...They sound a lot like the Carter family...But I'm assuming they recorded before the Carters...Maybe the Carters were influenced by this great old time band
The Carter Family first recorded in 1927 whereas these guys first recorded in 1928. So, the Carter Family recorded earlier, but some of their later songs could have been influenced by them. You never know. And you are totally welcome, I am glad you liked this post. Have a good day, Brian
