  • Holy shit, my heeler does the exact same thing thats so funny hahaha

  • Our male red ACD does that, his name is Scooter but we call him Snappy Tom because of the teeth snapping. Our female blue, Luna, has a shrill voice. Both are OBSESSED with fetching. Hubby and I both ended up with repetitive stress injury from flicking the kong lattice ball so much for them!

  • This brought tears to my eyes. It brings back so many memories of Chase, my late border collie x cattle dog. This is exactly what he did when he realised barking was getting him nowhere but he desperately wanted me to throw the toy. Thank you so much for posting this. I've always regretted not getting it on video and it's so wonderful that 8yrs later I get to see it again.

  • I have a deaf ACD and she does this too. Not always, usually her voice is very loud and sometimes shrill. She doesn't even know the difference between loud and quiet (she was born deaf because she is white). So it must be a Heeler trait.

  • wish i could teach that to my heeler.lol.she is 15 months old and a little terror, but shes a great dog, loving loyal, smart and fun.

  • very beautiful.! I also have a 1 year. and this looks a lot like yours.! now I have a doubt, he is barking so in silence, because it is a command of yours?..

  • @dekocris check out the top comment she answers that

  • This is extremely, extremely adorable.

  • i taught my blue heeler this same trick, her's is "say please" lol gota love such smart dogs (:

  • haha I have a blue heeler too. and actually teaching this same trick was really easy. his word is whisper.

  • We have two blue heelers, an 8 yr old bitch and a 3 tr old male. The male does this "quiet talking" when he wants something. Never trained him, he just started it on his own, He even looks like your dog in the video. Oh, he also surfs! Look up "Roscoe surfs" here on youtube. I never taught him that either. He watched me and decided he was going to be the next Nat Young.. Wonderful breed!!!

  • Aww this is adorable, you should post some more video's!!!

  • My border Terrier/Chihuahua mix does this! But I taught him to "whisper". It's so cute to see him do his tricks.

  • jajajajjajajaja q arte

  • that's so adorable!! I wonder if I could get my dog to do that. Her bark is often piercing where my ears will ring. lol

  • I live in Australia and have a 1 year old purebred heeler that we got for free from a farm. She is so intelligetn and LOVES her toys too! You should check out my videos, she looks a lot like Torque.

  • I have to teach mine this. Great idea for my ears and neighbors.

  • my dog is 15 weeks and can arlready sit laydown high five roll over

  • how cute! we've got a blue heeler pup here in homeland Australia and he is AWESOME! best dogs ever :-) But yes, waaayyy tooo loud!!

  • My dog will do the same thing. We even have the same toy... we call it the dude? I will try and get a video of her doing it...

  • This is awesome! My Sophie (heeler mix) needs to learn this trick! She's a loud, crazy little girl!

  • Loved it. My ACD does the same thing snapping thing.

  • lol hilarious!

my sister and I taught her toy poodle to snap his jaws together to when he wanted one of us to throw his toy. very funny

  • I love how heelers with gladly do obedience tricks just to have your attention and have a toy throw! No nasty food involved.

  • will you making more videos of your little pal Torque sometime soon, that dog is just so awesome :D

  • SO cute. I love him. :)

  • what breed is your dog? :)

  • Torque is an Australian Cattle dog. They are also known as ACD, blue heeler, cattle dog and ultimately awesome XD.

  • It's funny how much ACD are alike. My dog Best Boy used to do this. Cute Bluey!

  • Thats amazing, i wish my 6mth blue would do this, his bark is ear piercing when he wants the dang tennis ball. Im blown away by this breed, its astonishing what they can learn! Good job!

  • Thats amazing, i wish my 6mth blue would do this, his bark is ear piercing when he wants the dang tennis ball. Im blown away by this breed, its astonishing what they can learn! Good job!

  • Awe, our first heeler knew how to do this too. But instead of "shhh," we told him to swear. :) Love my heelers. The smartest and most loyal breed out there.

ACD is soooooooo cute too. We're lucky to have amazing kids like these.

  • how did u do this

  • I put this up a few years ago but it still applies :)

I wasn't crazy about the way he asked for me to throw his toy, he'd stand there and bark at me in this sharp, shrill voice, so instead of just giving him the toy I'd ask him to do things for it.

First I taught him to "speak" then I taught him to "shh" and everytime he gave me a quiet bark I would reward him by giving him the toy. Did I mention he LOVES his toy. And slowly the bark for "shh" got quieter and quieter until...

  • @Torqued80 i... am sorry for hearing the last part ;-;

  • Our doggie heeler is LOUD!

  • I have got two heeler mixes I will be sending you next week for training!!! LOL

  • @tinkypig73 Haha... I would take them and send them back to you barkless (no surgery needed :) They could come back with Torque's trick repertoire too. He does something like 25 tricks this and he's going blind too! :)

  • LOL

  • Oh I sooo want to find my ACD pups 'Quiet voice' LMAO...brilliant!

  • My acd is so loud when we get her to speak.

  • Part of being favored to herd is their quiet nature when working as to not shake up the cattle. They get excited during play and have a high pitch bark but aren't usually persistant barkers. Kelpies are great dogs too.

  • Awesome Dog!

My Red does that too...But then he gets loud...

  • My BLUE HEELER does the same quiet voice!!! haha. It's hilarious, no noise but sure can hear their chomp! :)

  • lol mine does it too!

she's half australian shepherd/half blue heeler

  • That is so GORGEOUS!!! I have always had ACDs they're so smart! I've recently gotten a red heeler puppy, he's only 8 months and i've taught him to hold my hand and take to where he wants... outside, bed, food :)

  • How did you teach him this? I have an aussie and this would be a very good trick for him to learn!

  • This is so cool! And so hilarious! What a smart doggie.

  • I got my blue heeler for free. A guy was giving them away. In Arkansas people use them for hunting dogs and they are pretty cheap sometimes free.

  • @swatson1190 Well there is a downside to getting a cheap or free dog as I found out. Mine is going blind. He has allergies to EVERYTHING and he's deformed. This would be a breed I would tell people to do their research on just because painful blindness is very prominent with them. If you buy from a breeder make sure they are reputable and if you rescue chances are you're getting a blind or partially blind dog. But we love them all the same. They're so smart they don't need perfect eyes.

  • awesomely handsome, PLEASE tell me where u got this beautiful dog.

  • Mine was free. I rescued her from a home where the owner let their husky/wolf beat up the heeler.

She is very sweet, loves humans, hates other dogs and cats though now..

  • TORQUE?! HAHAHA!! awesome!!!

  • That's adorable. I have a blue heeler and he'll do that when he's getting ready to attack me :) They're such great dogs.

  • XD Blue heelers are really funny :P My blue heeler, Zoey acts just like yours when playing with a toy.

  • How did you teach him to bark but NOT bark?

  • adorible

  • LOL I love it!! My ACD needs to learn this. :) Actually, I think he's starting to get the idea - now, just for him to do it when he gets excited and can't help but bark!

  • that is too cool, how hard would it be to find a breeder in the states? how much they go for??

  • probably not that hard. it kinda depends on where you live. if you live in a city it would be harder, but u may just have to go further. also it might be easy to find some pups or adults that need saving in shelters. they proably go for about 900 to 1000 depending on the breeder. but shelters will be like 100

  • the girl (red heeler/lab x) gets a lullaby every night, and she expects it. she learns what she wants to. LOL

  • that's so cute and funny! we have a blue heeler and a red heeler/lab x, and they are the joy of our lives. our blue heeler is definitely the smartest one, and he often learns by osmosis - he just picks things up so fast. we're currently teaching him to say "wubba" (a favorite toy) and Mom! the quiet voice - he had to learn that too. sometimes it's like he works sooooo hard just to get that silent bark out. hilarious. also taught him about his "dingo" - which is the scruff under his chin.

  • if you look on my videos, there's one called 'LOKI'. It's our neighbours dog, and it makes a sound like 'hubba' . He just does it, wasn't taught it.

  • Oh, i forgot "Catch" and "Gentle."

  • I taught mine "whisper" "talk" and "speak." Quiet, Normal, Loud.

He also knows Sit, Lay-down, Shake, Shake-left, "high-five," "low-five" (both two handed), spin, spin "other way," Roll-Right, Roll-Left, and the "nose-trick." He also "asks" when he needs to go out, or waits patiently by the door, until i look over and notice him waiting. :)

He also does the "blanket dance."

    <3 ACDs

  • That's great! Now if I can only make my ACD squeek his ball softer too we'd be set ;)

  • thats so cool my BC never barks unless theres a dog barking on tv

  • Awesome! My heeler knows this too :)

  • That is just fantastic...and so funny too. Going to try your instructions with mine, she is only 10 weeks yet and only shrieks ( I mean barks) when she cant get down the stairs but great advice and a fabulous looking cattle dog! Aitch

  • LMAO!!! Obviously you don't have a heeler...cuz if you did you'd know how smart they are! You don't need to surgically alter anything in this breed all you have to do is show them another way. We heeler people know this. ;)

  • You're foolish, and obviously have never had the experience of owning this breed. They're incredibly intelligent, unlike yourself.

  • I wish I could teach this to my heeler. His bark is ear piercing. If I could get him to do it silently then I could reward him, but how did you get him to do it in the first place?

  • Lol...Ok...slightly longer than short version is:

I wasn't crazy about the way he asked for me to throw his toy, he'd stand there and bark at me in this sharp, shrill voice, so instead of just giving him the toy I'd ask him to do things for it.

First I taught him to "speak" then I taught him to "shh" and everytime he gave me a quiet bark I would reward him by giving him the toy. Did I mention he LOVES his toy. And slowly the bark for "shh" got quieter and quieter until...

  • Wow. Great job on that! Gotta try it on my heeler...if the Schnauzer doesn't butt in. lol

  • I did it by singing to him in a soft voice during his infancy (i've had him since he was born... i had to cut him out of the sack myself, but he spent his first ~4-6 weeks with his mom and siblings). Beyond that, it's just a matter of helping him understand what you want him to do, and positively reinforcing it when he does.

  • ahuauha.... vou fazer isto co o meu cao

  • they're the smartest breed, bar none!

  • Lol...You were right the first time...a brother. He figured out that he wouldn't get his toy by barking at me but he really was excited for getting it so he chose to talk quietly and noticed he got exactly what he wanted...smartest dog ever!

  • He could be my ACD's brother (or sister)-except for the quiet voice.

    Funny!

  • That's amazing! My two Cattle Dogs definitely have the Cattle Dog Shriek.

  • mine too! lol
