If you guys wanna see how to make a projector using just a box and a magnifying glass, along with a double iPod touch giveaway and ipad 2 information click on my username.
Hey man can you put iPhone LCD screen inside of this projector and use iPhone as a connector for that screen and VGA/hdmi into the iPhone? If yes you can make one of he best projectors out wig using iPhone 4's LCD...
im making projectors too i just got an old slide projector so that should be alot better quality lenses than my $2 plastic magnified glass, that looks very bright for 20watts, mine is a 20watt led to. i cracked my lcd so that sucks! (another $40 grr) how big is your screen? mine is 2.5 inches across i think.
@DaDeceptiveOne oh so you can plug a keyboard into it? and it works fine? that would be awesome but it changes it all because you have a bigger screen now
could you tell me where you were able to get those type of high power LED's i been searching all over for them, but all i have found them in is china. any info would be appreciated.
First off, I'm studying Electronic Engineering so I appreciate how much work this must have taken and it really is a fantastic result. Secondly, you must have researched current projectors and seen how expensive they are, how much did this cost to make? Not that I could ever reproduce something even vaguely similar, at least just yet, I'm still learning...
hey thanks so much for replying to me on your other video i have figured out how to make it brighter like your one i wasnt using that cone thing between led and condenser lens now its really bright thanks
Well done for the idea, but by the time you have bought all the stuff to make it, may as well just buy one. I have a Microjekt pocket power mini projector, it fits in your pocket yet is at least as bright as this looks, plus it connects to VGA, AV, or projects from it's 4gb internal memory. I have owned the pocket cinema from Aiptek too, but the Pocket power from Microjekt "walks over it".
Ok, forget my past question, I did´t saw the link, this is completely awesome, I mean I have a dying zune, I can remove the lcd display to use it for this project, thanks man, congrats on this.
@Escanerdj LCD screens are only designed to change which visible light comes through. they have no effect on infrared. on an infrared camera, all LCDs look blank.
my question might seem same strange. Using an infrared light source to project through the LCD, can it project the picture of LCD that will be only visible through IR filter camera?
Nice projector..doesn't the family love it when we ask them to stand here....hold this...Have you adjusted the condenser yet? Maybe do a update with a action flick playing.I'd like to see the graphics.Real tight job on that led!
Thank you. I did not adjusted the condenser because I'm working on a better version of this projector with a box a bit bigger, In this box there is just not enuf space for adjusting the condenser lens. Did you see the link on the comments of this video? there are pictures of this projector.
I have looked at the scematic on your instructables and i haveone question...
Do you HAVE to have a regulated power supply, or will the led be fine with about 14v? (assumeing a slightly larger current limiting risistor then suggested)
ive never worked with such large leds and i as its gonna be £20 for one i dont want to blow it up.
That's because the box I used was to small, to be able to project without the round corners I needed to separate the condenser lens a bit more from the LCD. But I wanted to keep it small, so that's why I didn't do anything about it.
"lumens" is a reference to how bright the led is whereas the wattage just refers to how much energy is used. I've heard that there are 50 W leds that produce about 1700 lumens, but the led I'm referring to only used around 10 Watts.
I got excited when I saw your other video because I thought you were using the LEDs for the actual video output (as lo res as that would have been), not just backlight!

Very nice job, mate! You know, there are some pretty high performance LED modules for sale online, which are about 100W.
Is this an LCD or DLP projector?
(btw, you misspelled "homemade" in the tags)

why doesnt the lens permit a more square/uniform image?
KeithWasHere1 1 year ago
@KeithWasHere1 Lenses never do a square or uniform image. You would need an iris of some sort for that.

@MisterAlexUk Hi there! I'm glad you like my projector. In the comments of this video there is a link with a lot of info of this projector.
I did not make the current protector in this projector, I made one for my other projector that you can check if you want on my other videos.
For this projector I'm using a power supply that does not exceed the current of the LED.

You could do that, but you will need a really powerful IR LEDs. I tried already with a matrix of 50 LED's and it was not powerful enuf.

what is the use of that fan?????????? To blow air INTO the box or SUCK the air from the box to the outside????????????
dimsanda 2 years ago
The fan is to cool down the led. So it doesn't need to blow air inside or suck it. It only could down the heat sink that cool down the LED
