  • wow... great demo!! I'm sold. I don't have $800 for an original, and by the looks of it, this will do the trick, nicely enough

  • does it do like, reverse reverb? backwards stuff?

  • Great demo! Thanks. I just picked one up for my synths.

  • whered you learn to play like that?

  • Can I use RE-20 with bass guitar?

  • @MarthaFlicker sure you can! even with an electric violin if you want

  • thanks for the video, one of the better ones of this pedal! Is it possible to do a reverse echo(tape) effect on this pedal? Thx

  • I really liked the first little melody you played, it made think of a very lonely and broken guitarist sitting in a chair in a empty 50's ballroom singing his weeping heart out on his trusted axe. I like your style and thanks for the RE-20 demo.

  • @chrstman Thanks a lot man, that's some nice imagery.

  • Cornford amps are sweet dude. Your tone sounds great.

  • it's about time i found a good demo of this pedal on youtube. thanks for the great review. boss should give you some credit because you motivated me to buy this pedal. keep up the awesome demos.

  • Good demo man. Gots to get me one! I think Boss owes you some royalties! : )

  • PFFFF REALY BAD !! JUST A BIG SHIT

  • PFFFFFF REALY BAD BEUUURRRKKK JUST BIG SHIT !!!!!!

  • can this be used as just a just a delay? in other words, would there be an advantage to have a stomp box that just did delay if you already have an RE-20

  • Okay, I must say: Of all the crappy demos of this pedal, I have finally come across a 5-star demo! This video might be the only thing that motivated me to buy this pedal :)

  • So does this have the warmth of analog and tape echo like it claims? For $250 Id hope so.

  • The GS-201 - GSi - Soundware for musicians plug in emulation eats this for lunch. UAD's and Rolands RE-201 pedal don't even get 50% close to the colour unlike the GS-201 at 99% for $19. Shame on you Roland & UAD.

  • does the input signal get cliped easily? i've seen it has a volume in control which I guess is to compensate for clipping. does the volume in control go all the way to silence when turned CCW?

  • yes

  • So I'm really eager to get one of these, but, is it really worth the $200+? Is there anything else in this price range that does this much?

I'm kind of guessing no, Roland seems to know what's up when it comes to affordable fx imo.

Anyone got any war stories? any reason they wouldn't get this?

  • Could I run my 8 track through this for reverb and echo on mixdown? Or is there too much noise being that it is a guitar effect?

  • @moriluk This unit is perfectly useable as a send/aux effect. I am going to buy one very soon. It has stereo in / out, and it's not only for guitars. The unit itself is very quiet, no noise or hiss at all.

  • How does this compare to the Danelectro Reel Echo? I have one, but it's not mental enough for me.. I want out and out weirdy space noises, etc... anyone?

  • did you ever end up keeping this and if not, why?

  • Is there a way to turn off the pedal to switch to distortion say you're playing something slow and ambient. Then you want to start play a defined distorted solo.

  • Umm, the footswitch?

  • @expandwhatyousee

I dunno if this will help (a year later), but there's a built-in tap-tempo, and it also has an expression pedal input jack (like a "control voltage" sort of option).

  • I had an asat from 1986. I wish I hadn't sold it. That tone is awesome!

  • Yeah man, I love it. I can't imagine playing anything else now!

  • @metalcore929 Does this really sound natural, warm, analog as its described? I'm thinking of getting one but the local store doesn't carry it and I don't like digital delay. If this gets close to analog I'd get it.

  • @metalcore929 I always hear people complaining about the reverb on this being unusable and horrible sounding. It sounds pretty good and ambient to me. How is it in person? Does the echo really sound warm and organic?

  • You won't believe me but in 1980 Brian Setzer came to my apt and bought my old Roland RE-201 Space Echo, I didn't know who he was! Now he's my favorite guitar player! That was in Costa Mesa Calif. He asked me if I had heard of the Stray Cats and then said that I would. He was right! When I see him in concert I always wonder if the Roland on stage was mine but I know he owns dozens of them. He paid $250 for it back then! That was a lot of money! Like $1000 today but it was in very good condition.

  • Wow, that's a great story! I wish I could own an original, some day I guess.

  • Is the reverb still on when you switch off the effect?

  • I think the trails might stay after you bypass it but I can't really remember how i had it set up.

  • very good demo,thank you

  • This sounds very good! I'm really a digital delay guy (though my MIJ DD-3 sounds lovely and warm), but this would satisfy my occasional want of analog delay. I like the trails a lot.

  • Not bad not bad. I still like wacking my 201 for a bit of dubbing stylee...

  • really great tape delay emulator;

    and great demo too!

  • nice to hear it setting by setting... sold my DL4 to get on of these... better tap tempos and strangeness here.

  • cos he's a london boy. They all sound this west-indian gritty to their voices, appeared over the last 25-30 years. Listen to Jammie oliver, he evan has a touch of oz and new zealand in his patter. if it's that what you mean.

  • Should i feel guilty for going against the pedal Jesus rules and getting this over the deluxe memory man?

  • You should indeed. Nothing really compares to the hawtness of the DMM.

  • is true bypass?

  • No. No Boss pedal is. That's not a reason not to buy it, though.

  • DD3s are for something completely different than an RE-20... For hard digital delays and glitch-outs the DD-3 is very impressive (I have one) but I have every intention to get an RE-20 next time I have some some money saved up because it just sounds so beautiful, particularly for the rhythmic stuff and the type of delay that should be put on solos.

  • Re-20's have so many more options than a dd-3, sound better, and has tap tempo.

RE-201s are very unreliable, expensive, and hard to find.

He talked for less than a minute
