@TheAlexBody Yaw doesn't mean the entire plane moves sideways, it means the plane rotates around the z axis.

To get good lift and low drag, a plane must go forwards. Doesn't happen when flown sideways. The plane stalls and controls fail too.

Ubisoft's model clearly calculates the same lift and drag no matter what direction the wind is moving. It's not the first ridiculous flaw in an Ubisoft model. They're notorious for them. Pretty much every flight game they ever produced.

@kozmon0t No; the Su-27 IS moving forward through the air. The wind is obviously blowing towards it at above the stall speed and when the aircraft yaws slightly to the right it appears to move sideways with the nose pointing slightly to the right.

Have you ever seen a bird hovering on an air current or on a windy day and then dipping a wing to move sideways? It's the same thing.

Lock On's flight models are pretty on the ball.

@glavonjagrob It's not a matter of which side he tries from. It's a matter of the plane flying sideways into the wind, which it does for quite a while, under full control, without stalling or losing altitude. It's impossible.

The simplest way to explain it is, the plane is designed to modify airflow to produce lift as it goes from front to back. Air crossing it sideways produces little if any lift, and a ton of drag. The plane would have stalled - immediately. And crashed.

To fly straight and level you must have lift. Sideways for a Sukhoi is impossible. It's also not possible to control a plane flying sideways. What's gonna control it? The ailerons? Rudder? Elevator?

Remember we're talking about Ubisoft here. Not a company known for accurate flight models.

@io007a OverG fighters is pretty good too, it's cheap as hell and in between missions the game feels a bit on the old/crap side but the actual game play , flight ect is quite good in my opinion, especialy for the price. I found my xbox360 coppy in a bargain bin for like 9 bucks or something.
