@danesesse Indeed, there are more blind hits in Rugby. But the fact that there are no pads, limits the hitter in how much power he would use. Because of pads, nfl players can hit harder without getting hurt. Rugby players hit hard, but not as hard because of the pain element. I will say however, Rugby players experience more pain, whereas nfl players suffer more concussions, and sprains and such. Love both sports by the way :)

One thing I absolutely HATE about these Sports Science shows they always have the dummy dangling from something. That doesn't accurately gauge the force of the hit. Think about how hard it is to move a 180 Lb. object on the ground. But that same object hanging from a rope is much easier to move. That also takes power away from Ray by not having as much to push against.

You could be just starting to accelerate at say 10 ft / s^2 and just at 1 foot per second velocity and the force of your impact would still be your weight times 10.
