I would like to get off of the pill. Have been on it for years. I tried once to go off for 3 months and got terrible acne, which I never even had acne before the birth control. I want to try taking black cohosh, dong quai and vitamin A as soon as I stop by pills. I heard they help regulate hormones and vitamin A for skin- are there any other herbs I could use for hormone regulation?
Except condoms have a higher failure rate than the pill. I know for sure that pregnancy would mess with my hormones and my life more than the pill ever will.
I too have PCOS, just got diagnosed last week. My doctor put me on birth control. But right now I am in the progress of losing weight. Do you think if I start taking the pills, it will delay my weight loss progress?
Oddly, most mainstream doctors know very little if anything about our own bioidentical hormones, while they love to prescribe chemicalized hormones that they got "educated" about by the pharmaceuticals. So yeah, it was a battle to get my doctor to give me the hormones. You have to bring them some material to educate them and talk them into it.
These are compounded hormones (made by a pharmacist) that are the exact same molecular structure as our own hormones that our body produces. Chemicalized hormones such as Prempro and all birth control pills, as well as the Merena IUD (which killed my natural progesterone system), have hormones that try to mirror our own natural hormones but are different from our own hormones so the company can obtain a patent. These hormones wreak havoc in our bodies because they are foreign molecules.
Our hormones use a lock and key system, and the fake chemical hormones fit into some of our cells but in some cells their fake key doesn't fit and so our cells aren't deriving the benefit offered by our own natural hormones. A horse has 13 different estrogens, and most of these are found in your birth control pills. For some crazy reason, doctors will try to tell you that fake chemicals (horse estrogens) are better than your own hormones! I dont get it!
I have taken birth control since I was 11 years old. I have been trying to get off of it for years but I keep getting my period for months at a time. I'm now 22 and still rely on bc and don't know what else to do. :(
I agree that birth control messes with your hormones and has side effects and stuff, however, a barrier method can be less than 80% effective in preventing pregnancy, so it's always much much safer to use a barrier method for preventing STDs and birth control.
Yes, chemicalized hormones are the WORST. Often people get suckered into treating their hormonal problems with birth control pills or other chemicalized preparations that are not identical to our own hormones. Rebecca pls spread the word about this! You can treat yourself with bio-identical hormones if you have insomnia and other hormonal issues (excessive bleeding etc, acne etc) and they work so well whereas fake hormones (like the pill) derived from a horse OBVIOUSLY are not good for us.
@peanutspatty these are compounds which are molecularly identical to the hormones naturally produced by the body. They are usually obtained by prescription from a compounding pharmacy.
I personally think most doctors are a sham...... all they do is diagnose you and put you on some poisonous pharmaceuticals that keeps you sick, and causes even more complications such as cancer etc...
It's a hard issue to deal with some people on though..... people are just plain unaware, when the fuck are ppl gonna wake uP? Most ppl I try to inform don't even seem to give a shit.... YAY LETS ALL DIE OF CANCER COOOOOOOL
@annure5 - I agree with Natasha. I was told if I go off the pill to expect it to take 3 months for hormones to completely balance. I have been on the pill forever. I am 46 and not in a position to have another child this late in the game, so I stay on it (and I have no problems with it either). But I hear if I went off it would be an adjustment. I also know it is not the healthiest situation, but that's why I am continuing my (fairly new) raw journey, to keep countering the toxins!
non latex condoms are the shizzle ..... trojan - supras! I think they are polypropaline or something like that (not sure how to spell) they around 15 buks for 6 .... but well worth the money ...
I went off the pill 3 weeks ago and even though I'm eating a clean diet I can't get rid of this acne! It been 4 months and I've never had this before. I've been taking probiotics, fermented foods, only a little natural sugar, no carbs, ect..because I thought is was candida. Not sure, but why won't it go away? Should I just get some tests done?
I would give it some time. Your body now has to rebalance your hormones (thats why you are having the acne)-- give your body a few months to re-adjust
I also got off birth control four months ago and my skin is worse than its ever been...I mean, Ive never had horrible acne to start with, just mainly scarring and a minor break-out here and there...now its so bad :-(
How long do you suppose it will take for my body to stabilize again??? My periods seem to be getting back to normal.......
I've been doing mostly raw for 3 months and lots of green juices with spinach, kale, and cilantro for about a month. I even did a 6 day juice fast. I'm a very healthy person so I don't understand why it is taking this long.
what kind of acne do you have? have you tried drinking celery juice or cucumber juice? they flush out toxins quicker. I still eat a lot of fruit for energy which allows me to stay on the raw food diet.
