@10000Hawks except that I enjoy the prequels... And I was born in 1991 so I grew up in the period between the two trilogies. Now as an adult, Episode 1 isn't very good, but Lucas doesn't like it much either because he needed to get all that exposition out the way, which annoyed him (listen to the Ep 2 commentary) but 2 and 3 are good and 3 has a better rating than Jedi (80% and 79% respectively on Rotten Tomatoes) so don't speak for everyone when there are those that like them.
I don't know why some people dont like the newer ones. It makes everything come full circle. And the amazing thing is that Lucas can tie things from a new hope into Phantom Menace or Revenge of The Sith decades later. The first three give you the story of luke and han and the rebels but the newer ones give you a background into how things got this way, how vader became vader and who Obi Wan Kenobi was and what the Jedi order was and why it is so important for luke to succeed.

ok... Seriously, this is a fantastic documentary. I love Star Wars in all its incarnations. I'm a child of the 90s that grew up between the clash between old trilogy vs. new trilogy because kids of the new generation love the new films, and old fans hate it but forget that they TOO were kids when they saw them and get angry that they were changed.
I love the documentary "The People vs. George Lucas" which I thought showed how pathetic the "hardcore fanbase" is because they need to hate to love.

he has not become what he was trying to avoid. Lucasfilm is not a beverage or car company that intend to buy film studios. He built his own studios from the scratch and does only movies. The difference is that car and beverage companies had no idea of films whatsoever and that is why they made surveys back in the day. this is said in the first part.
Been a fan of this saga since the ripe old age of 5 when my dad took me to see this back in '77... Changed my life it did. I will FOREVER be a fan of STAR WARS and it's ENTIRE universe, old AND new... One of the fondest memories I have between me and my father. Thanks dad for introducing me to the ways of THE FORCE... Just to add to my last post regarding 'The Emperor', in case I fall foul to any over-enthusiac or obsessive 'STAR WARS' fans, the answer is no, I haven't given in to the dark side!
Okay i've just sat through 15 segments of an overwhelming and utterly fantastic documentary which i'm sure has warmed the hearts of many of my fellow 'STAR WARS' brothers and sisters. But am I nit-picking too much if I question the exclusion of 'The Emperor' from the video in relation to mentioning an enormously important/poinant Lucas character ? Did anybody else find this a missing piece of the 'cake's icing'so to speak?
I don't think there's a movie (or sequence of movies) that has occupied as big a part of my life as Star Wars has. It's wonderful in a way no other film, whether greater or worse, has managed to be, before or since.
I really enjoyed this. As a young filmmaker myself, I now see the amount of potential believing in your project and standing by your vision can achieve. Thank you, George Lucas.

Oh George. It's like he got a new toy and didn't know when to say when. Peter Jackson or JJ Abrams should have done those movies... It's not because you CAN direct them that you're the right person to do it. A fantastic imagination he has... directorial talent, not so much.
I dont see how the digital reworking ruined the originals lol. I understand the greedo scene and a few others annoy some people who worshiped those movies (Even though I like some of the new scenes, and dont really care about the greedo thing) but the effects looked better in the scenes they reworked (Which werent even that many) If that ruins the film for you, then did you ever really like the movie?
great documentary...watch all of it and now i understand more the importance of Star Wars and its story, as well as the casting, and i now more about the films, how they were made, and the efforts that were made to make them.
So after digital world came...Lucas put some digital touch ups into the original movie? Because some parts when i watched recently, i was like no way Lucas could do it back then!
There was some "relaunched" version that came out in the 90s, in which some extra starships, colors, creatures and scenes were added to the film. But it is good to see both versions, I like the original very much,.
I watched this in several pieces over a matter of days, and it still excites me to this day to hear the Star Wars theme song come on. This was a well made documentary. Thank you GibertFilms for showing this to the world. I had no idea this existed and never would had it not been for you. Thanks again.
George Lucas did more than just give us a flashy sci-fi trilogy. He spear-headed a movement that would become the contemporary standard for filmmaking.

I watched this in several pieces over a matter of days, and it still excites me to this day to hear the Star Wars theme song come on. This was a well made documentary. Now did he actually had full controls making the modern episoded ? I dont feel so.. why are 50% of cgi pink ? Are these really his vision's ?

George Lucas did more than just give us a flashy sci-fi trilogy. He spear-headed a movement that would become the contemporary standard for filmmaking.
Even the prequels can't take that away.

Thank you very much for uploading this documentary, i have been a HUGE Star Wars fan since i was a little kid, around the time of the S.W.T.:Special Edition, as soon as i seen all the action, explosions & lightsaber duels, i could not look away! watching this documentary, reminds me what an extremely great series Star Wars was, is, and will always be! again, Thank You Very Much!
