devaney is actually a pretty nice guy. i met him a while ago at a regional and he is a nice person. put yourself in his shoes. how do you act when ur bowling for 20k and bowling that bad?
this is like the shark pattern man if you say he sucks then are you trying to say ppl like PDW or walter ray or norm duke sucks? they didnt even make it to the tv...
mike devaney is actually a good bowler he isnt as good on the shark because he like to throw it hard i think his confidence is not in the best condition he hasnt had very many good breaks on tv so many ringing tens
DeVaney is actually a pretty cool guy and as far as "attitude" that's status quo for the PBA. These guys are trying to make a living out there and the "attitude" is called competitiveness and determination to win. It's all about that paper ($) folks.
I think chewing gum while bowling is more disgusting than having a bad game... and the last 4 times I heard hambone the bowler missed the 4th strike.. sounds like it just the announcer's "wishbone"? Thanks for the upload Wolfman!
Respectfully (and empirically,) gum has nothing to do with it.
Bob Learn Jr. was chomping away on the gum when he shot the lights out at Erie in 1996, as was Mark Roth, who won the '84 U.S. Open.
Johnny Guenther was chewing gum in the '69 San Jose Open where he threw a 300 and then climbed the ladder.
The next year, Don Johnson - yes, again chomping away on the gum - shot the most famous 299ever, I'd argue, complete with four tripped 4-pins and a vicious solid 10.
yeah after watching a dozen videos from Wolfman's amazing collection, I must say that Stoner is more fun to listen to than Dave Ryan. Stoner just brings more exciting enthusiasm to a fan that is just coming into this sport, even if he prides himself on lame descriptions like "hambone", I mean come on just stick with a 4-bagger buddy.
Actually, it looks like he tried to force a shot he thought would work at first, then panicked when he saw that it wasn't going to work. When you don't have a plan "B" for situations like this, it makes for a long, long day. He'll be back, though.
Great post Wolf! You have to admit that Stone is getting better, he's learning. Plus, Him and Randy play off eachother pretty well. I find them entertaining.
Devaney Sucks!!

I agree, I met him last week at the PBA tournament in Norwich, CT. Saw him throw a 290 playing two different lines.

Michael Jordan chewed gum every minute of every NBA game he played because he read that it helps your concentration.

I think DeVaney was kind of nervous and this thus led to him losing his accuracy. Thanks Wolf again for the videos though.

I think Devaney was distracted by his own chewing gum. He was consciously chewing it during the approach.
