  • @crazyredneck5674 yes that would be nice !!

  • thanks for all the great vids and all the best for 2012. i play with old chainsaw +mowers and the fule is nogood today not like it was in the 70s .bob from Oz

  • @pm270100 thanks for watching

  • @donyboy73

The moth ball idea is ok but if the machine is stored in a building where you spend much time and you can smell the odor of the moth balls, breathing these fumes over time will alter your blood and make you very sick. It is kinda a painless slow sickness that can lead to death. Idea is ok if stored outside but not inside a building where you spend any time. Just be careful.

  • @jrh6466 thanks for the tip

  • Could you do a video on how a hydrostatic drive train works? It would be helpful thanks

  • Hi DB,

Stihl is following Echo with their carburetion. The idea is driven by the EPA and CARB. If you remove the metering diaphragm from the base of the carb you will find 'thread in' jets that are numbered for fuel flow based on market area. Most units stay in the same market area where sold, so not much jetting change is needed. New 460 and 660 saws are now built this way although traditional side jets remain for elevation adjustment. Auto-tune designs are next, seen one yet?

  • @MrRmh3481 thanks for the tips, haven't seen an auto tune yet

  • @donyboy73 i heard some chainsaws were fuel injected. have you seen any? i haven't

  • @outdoorsman310 not yet

  • Hey Donny in a previous video in the comments section I noticed it said something about you not liking the 4mix engines why is that? I was thinking about getting a BR 600 but after seeing that comment not sure if I should get it..

  • what after 1 year bad gas lol :) We had a old moped with mixed gas. The gas around 7 years old and engine was still working.

  • @daand12 haha maybe it was pre ethanol i have some gas thats now 3 years old i use in my chainsaw and weedeater hopefully il finish it next season

  • We also watch you in SLOVENIA!!!

  • @elpunto231 thank you, Greetings from Canada!

  • Dony great vid !!!

  • you can use high octane fuel in small engines with no prob. its just a waste of money unless it has a really high compression ratio for some reason.

  • good video didnt know about the dryer sheets.

  • @1darron1 thanks for watching

  • Comment removed

  • Dryer sheets work great, I use them in two places, 1 in our RV they just do not like them, and also in our tower site generators, they will not go around the controller boards.

  • Thanks for the great video and the informative comments below. Mouse Magic sounds like a winner in terms of keeping those destructive rodents away. And . . . Bonide Chemical Company is located a few miles from my home! Go figure.

  • How to keep rodents away? Shotgun!

  • @donyboy73 I love your videos...have learned so much...you da man!!

  • Man, you are prolific.Another informative Q&A. Glad your heater started working, you looked a little cold at the start.  :}

  • @dejanira2 thanks

  • I just seen your video on the colmen 5000 watt gen with a 10hp techemsah engine. Is it possible to put a electric start on one of those? I have a devil bliss same engine it has a cover on the side that looks like you could take it off and put a electric start there. I have a old snow blower 10hp same engine older but does have a electric start I wander if I can take it off.

  • What was the complete name of the product you used to start the generator?.

  • @ncrdisabled not sure, any quick start or penetrating oil will work

  • Nice video!

  • @custer123100 thanks

  • @donyboy73 Your welcome.

  • I would say start the generator every month its uses up the fuel in the tank and helps to keep it working fine.

  • @chox2001 for sure

  • @chox2001 i do the same with my snow blowers and lawn mowers when there is gas in the tank.

  • No mention of Tim Horton's? I heard they are popular in Canada?

  • @asdfjkdjsalkfj yes very popular here

  • Hi Don,

Another good video. Look forward to your message every week.

Can you help me out and let me know if there are ripping chains for a Husqvarna 51? I have some very large pieces that I'd like to cut along the grain to more easily transport to the splitter.

    Jeff

  • @jcostley i believe so, go to a small engine shop and they should be able to make one up for you, i also have a friend who can make some if he has some left

  • dryer sheets work awesome, i have been using them in my cars for years. they hate then, almost a whole box everywhere. also cedar blocks work well too

  • Great video, Dony!! 10 stars. God bless. John

  • @snaponjohn100 thanks

  • Put dryer sheets in our camper last year during winter storage. The camper parked next to ours had over $1,500.00 damage from mice. Dryer sheets work great and smell a lot better than moth balls

  • Yeah i know i cant ride my sled

  • Another reason for the valve on the Tecumseh carb bowl is to drain water out since water will sit at the bottom of the bowl. Not very common or likely these days, especially with ethanol in the fuel though, so unless you commonly get water in your gas (my old Sears/Ted Williams 7hp outboard has this carb/bowl with drain), replacing with non-drain bowl is a good idea.

  • Hey Dony don't you worry about starting fluids drying out the cylinder walls and causing damage to the rings ? And where are your Black Gloves..

  • See below for more, but some/many(?) quick start brands include lubricant to eliminate that problem. I wouldn't want to try to keep a 2 stroke (or diesel) running by continuously spraying quick start, but to just get 'em running is fine if they do include lube.

  • I have a 25cc 2cycle engine and was wondering if it would make enough power to be put on a bike. If not what size cc would I need. I weigh around 220

  • @SuperchargedMustang5 that would be too small, you would want about 50cc or more

  • @SuperchargedMustang5 depends on what kind of drive if you use spindle drive will work perfect i had a 25cc echo engine on a bike and pushed me along just fine i weighed about 220 back then

  • I found something better than mothballs to keep mice out of the engine it is called "Mouse Magic" made by Bonide, the box contains 4 small cloth bags of peppermint oil and spearmint oil and the smell is strong but pleasent.

I used to use mothballs but they disolve from the heat of the engine.

This stuff WORKS, I no longer have mice in my truck engine, been 2 months and the engine is clean, do not place the bag on the engine, just near it will drive them away, I hung the bag on the firewall.

  • Not good to use Quick Start, it can damage the engine, best to use Carb Cleaner

  • It's OK for 4 cycle/strok. 2 stroke, depends on the brand. Check the can, see if it has lubricant or says it's ok for 2 strokes. I couldn't find Donny's brand that says on the can that it's got lubricant in it. I bought some here in San Diego and wrote the manufacturer and they replied it did have lube and was fine for starting 2 strokes as well as diesel! I wouldn't use it continuously to keep the engine running, but should be fine for that initial kick over to get running.

  • I remember i had an open shed 3 years ago. before i made videos, and my dad had an old kohler engine and he started it up and bout 2-3 mice ran out from it but one of them wasnt so lucky it actually was underneath the flywheel and it got crushed and it wasnt a pretty picture.

  • Hey Don....how has the new stove been in the way of heat compared to the old one?

Any big difference in wood consumption?

Have a good weekend bro !

  • @famasmaster2000 better heat and less wood consumption

  • Next video.... mothballs in the carb !!!!

  • @seanint63 lol

  • What I do on my generator if it won't start, and the gas is still good. I will take the air filter cover and filter off, and put my thumb over the carb opening, and it usually will start. I guess the choke doesn't close tight enough.

  • @dagwood64 yes that is a good tip as well

  • hows your craftsman generator?

  • @dpin96 very good, thank you

  • We run into the carburetor situation quite often on the newer MTD snow blowers with the MTD (chinese) branded engines on them. It seems like just 6-8 weeks of non-use and the carburetor just doesn't like it.

  • Thanks Don, would like to say to others here make a list of you power equipment

on your cellphone or log book and write these tips in . :-) cheers

  • @Jdcap26 good idea, that would be a great vid for oyur channel

  • great video, have a great new year dony

  • @pivotboy63 thanks

  • Happy new year

    Starting fluid starts anything

  • Have you ever smelled moth balls?

  • @anderqual yes,lol
