@gumbyzhi Good comment...except therews one fly in the ointment old chap, all the other music videos that I have watched on Youtube are clear and undistorted and dont sound like an old radio from the 1950`s.
@ourobourous2000 Hey, the description said HQ audio, not high definition. Why would you associate HQ audio with HD? It is so funny for you to think that.
What part of my previous comment mentioned HD mate?
Im fully aware of what HD means, Im not talking about HD I am talking about HQ, which stands for High Quality.
Your last response said that its because its lound, now your trying to make out its about HD.
The whole point of my remarks before is it gives the false impression to people clicking on the video when you say HQ Audio, when clearly its anything but!! (See comments below)
RM had everything anyone could want from a great band: terrific songwriting, expert musicianship, the ability to overcome loss of a key group member, capacity to embrace new styles and sounds, etc. Many considered RM to be as much style as substance and there may be an element of truth to that but this is not shallow music. There is tremendous resonance to all stages of their work. Listen to how Rhett Davies pristine production leaves space for Phil's tasteful guitar licks at the end. Awesome.
Try striking that Bryan Ferry pose at the start of this video, and you will be beating the ladies off with a stick. At the very least, you will be brutally beaten by their boyfriends.
driving down the streets of miami with the beach at one side and beautiful miami on the other in the 80's with this song, not only is gta vc the most brilliant game ever made but this song is the most brilliant song ever made!
Bryan Ferry is hotter than the sun. He is the only man on earth who can wear a leather jacket with a dress shirt and bowtie and still look smokin' hot!
Bryan Ferry is hotter than the sun. He is the only man on earth who can wear a leather jacket with a dress shirt and bowtie and still look smokin' hot!
Always regret having shared this with my girlfriend at the time. She took the lyrics literally as a break-up song and that pretty much ended our relationship. Of course I later met someone else who became my wife of 22+ years.
I remember the album Avalon where this came from in 1982. It was amazing !! Yes the 80's had some of the best music. The rap didn't have a single swear word just suggestive sexual stuff but not dirty . Grand Master Flash and The Furious 5 , the Message ! Kurtus Blow , Super Rhythms , Who rhythms faster than a speeding train , has more rhythms than a train has tracks , able to leap sucker Mc's in a single bound .
If you're hatin' on modern music, quit wasting your time complaining, get on Pandora or Live365, and just start listening! Today's music is better, more diverse, and more available than at almost any point in modern history. You say Roxy Music, I say MUTEMATH. Steve Miller? The Killers. The Police? Green Day. Van Halen? Stereophonics. Flock of Seagulls? Interpol. The Go Go's? Imogene Heap. Longwave, The Bravery, Franz Ferdinand, Keane, Death Cab...GOOD MUSIC'S OUT THERE; GO FIND IT!
este tema pone los pelos de punta y si lo escuchas en la costa a orillas del mar con un buen cafe y buena compañia es que estas en otra, dios bendiga el talento de este grupo.
@pegasusbsb27 if only we could click our heels and say there's no place like the 80's and go back in time. all pop music today is retread or just plain horrible!!!
in '84 I was 18 ... now i'm 44, but I still really dig cool music like this and sure do miss the 80's. I just can't get into all this vampire faggy shit. If only I had a Lamberghini and a nuclear reaction to generate the 1.21 gigawatts of electricity. Shit, I'd be in business.
@bigdsears I am with you dude! i am a little older than you (50). I really miss the 80's. the music, the movies, the big hair chicks. I would love to have ten times the power you want. I would love to lock myself in the control room and blast the great music from the 60's-80's and drown out the Bieber and Gaga's of the world. turn all the youth on to what great music is. i feel so sorry for my kids with todays music. just my dream.
@LesSmith45 Ironically Beiber and Gaga, who are by my standards are way overrated, will become the biggest selling stars of all time. They both have billions (that's billions folks) of downloads on utube, and that translates to sales. It's like they both will surpass the Beatles. It's kind of sad...It reminds me of the beginning of that Twisted Sister video where he says "what do you wanna do with your life" and he says "I WANNA ROCK"... Now it'd be "I wanna blog"
@barbariss100 I know what you mean, why are RM so good to drive to? I had a driving holiday a few years back and the only thing I listened to was the dulcet tones of Brian. Why do I drive faster to rock music and slower to something mellow? Hmmm?
When i was 4, I told my mum i was going to marry Bryan Ferry cos he got sparkley eyes and shiney white teeth....Im now 37 and would still marry him!!!!!
Only Brian Ferry can get away with dancing like that, wearing those clothes and watching himself on the big screen without looking silly... gotta love him!
I saw Roxy Music in concert on the Avalon tour. They sounded so polished and pristine that the crowd was just losing it! Without question, one of the classiest groups in music history.
Let me tell u a story, the other nite I was in a niteclub, as usual I Fernando was surrounded by beautiful women, I could'e made luv 2 any number of them, then this really ugly girl come in. All fat hairy 'n ugly and stuff. Like a big fat cow, all walkin on 2 legs ya know? But she had the most beautiful eyes I ever saw, it was like openin a big dirty crabby shell n' findin a beautiful pearl. Than this record cum on. It was very appropriate, I talk 2 long Fernando's ratin go down...
I'm so glad to have grown up during this time, music was so gold. I fucking hate the rap shit nowadays and all the faggy bands. That's not to say Bryan here isn't a little fruity (I mean, come on, he's watching a friggin movie of himself), but this has a sweet beat. And WTF is up w/ all these vampires, shit man, get a grip kids!
@bigdsears I, too, feel fortunate to have grown up during the 80s. I'm nearly forty-one years-old now, but every time I hear these songs I'm back in highschool again. Gosh, how I miss it!
@alexinjo Yeah, you're prolly right. But I can't see that happening from here on out. I mean, how many folks who are young now are going to look back 20 years from now and say... "Shit man, I really miss that Justin Bieber guy, I mean his songs and his hair, you couldn't really beat that" or "What ever happened to P Ditty and Jay Z, and Kanye, gosh what a trifecta of talent"... um no, you won't hear that unless someone is smoking banana peels.
@bigdsears LMFAO ...GREAT COMMENT !.you are right and its not a generation thing ALEXINJO with all respect. This is 30 years old and will sound just as good in 10 years.Music really has hit a brick wall in my view.It had to happen one day..i mean how many tunes can there be to create is what i thought as a teenager..and so heres my answer- The current music scene is shite in general save a few gems.
@JACKANDJAY10 Whats so sad is there really is no rock related bands in the pipeline nowadays. I mean, I like Kings of Leon, Muse, Ghostland Observatory, Stone Sour, Papa Roach, Hoobastank, Incubus, Blink 182 and others, but there’s no real big choice. Like no older cooler bands like Steve Miller, The Police, Van Halen, heck even bands like the Go Go’s and Flock of Seagulls, like fun bands… I’m just not getting the whole ‘hip hop’ and ‘rock country’ scene.
@elpolentatlp Dude, what the fuck are you talking about? Today has the most faggy bands and shows of all time: Justin Beiber, Jay Z, Fall Out Boy, Miley, DWTS, Kardashians, Jersey Fags, American Idol, Teen Cribs, 16 and Pregnant, Is She Really Going Out With Him, Jonas Fags, Kate Perry, GaGa, Panic At The Disco, Ashley Simpson, My Chemical Romance, Pussycat Dolls, Arvil, Sum 41, Britney, Timberlake, High School Musical cast, etc. We had The Cult and Depeche Mode and The Hulk and The A Team !
If anyone ever puts together one of those telepod's like from the movie The Fly or has a Delorian, I'd like to go back to '82... I miss all the cheezyness that was the 80's. I dont really like todays music or artists. I'm pretty free most of the week except I work the night shift at Shoneys Resturant. So I can go just about any time.
@blauaugen63 You're right about that, blau. The only decade that I think anyone lived through that was as cool as the 80's was the 50's. The 80's had just the right amount of technology with the awesomeness of the 50's mixed in. Just think...The thick chrome bumper on a '55 Chevy and Personal Computers. Blauaugen63, YOU KNOW WHAT'S UP!!
Duran Duran was influenced by Bryan Ferry and Roxy Music, back in the 70s and early 80s. Loved the 80s-It was, by far, the best era for music. The times were good, although, we didn't always realize it. But we do now...I miss the 80s...
The cover version by 10.000 Maniacs is better...

A million miles away from the early Roxy sound but who cares, it's a classic piece of mood music. The album Avalon was a fine way to bow out imo.

@Grantrus71 They were the BEST FUCKIN TIMES!!!!!!!!!!!
blauaugen63 1 year ago
