It seems odd that nobody has said this yet, so I'll just put it out there. Comments keep saying "The bar was put there for a reason." An arcade game with heavy physical motions designed to be played in a crowded environment...that is a safety bar. You can't fall on the people watching you and you have something to use if you lose your balance. It's a safety bar, not part of the game. If people want to use it to play, why the heck not, but have no illusions, it's easier than standing freely.

As I see it, there is always room for improvement when it comes to DDR (one of the reasons I love the game so much). And why wouldn't you want to be able to play as long as possible during a given day? Playing without the bar wastes your strength and time you could be using to get better. I will never understand what a person is thinking when they say playing without a bar is superior.
