Jesse, take the quick reflexes in the block tree if you're investing in block! It slows the time when you block while enemies perform a power attack. not only does it decrease the potential damage taken, but also gives you couple choices.Doding the attack, bashing him with your shield to interrupt the swing or just simply interrupt it by embedding your mace in their face. might seem obvious but the slow time effect makes this super easy.

oh,and shield bashing at the right time just as the enemy is performing a power attack has a miniscule chance of triggering an instant kill. but so does the aforementioned mace in the face. I've only seen it happen twice tho in my playthrough
