i have a question, i have my leapard gecko in sand but some time the sand falls on him im afraid he'll die sometimes any tips on how do i keep the sand from falling on him?
if they dont pee where do u think all the water goes huh smart guy? they do pee cause when i saw it right after he took a crap there was pee all over it , this comment is just to damncat999
You can do it every time if you'd like, but it isn't really necessary. They don't always need it, but if they have trouble getting the skin off, then you definitely know that you'll have to give them the sauna.
i highhly recomend paper towels as a substrate. it is very easy to clean. about the shedding i use a tubberware container filled about half way with spagum moss
yea but their toes dont shed as well plus if it doesnt shed the gecko will grow and its feet will get strangled and the blood will get blocked wich means its toes mite have to fall off
hey man just make a moist hide. I just use a tubaware made from dark plastic so it doubles as a hide for the geckos. Just put moist paper towels in there and give them a mist when they dry out. I have a ton of geckos and they never have bad sheds
my gecko takes about two days to get the shed of its eyes or head. i just leave it it does come of. just make a shed hide. it's a moist place with moss and they do go in it every time they want to shed. well mines does anyway.
Most have no problem whatsoever. Leopard geckos are incredibly hardy reptiles with very few health problems or anything of the like. They make fantastic pets. To avoid any shedding problems that might occur, however, I recommend doing what I do: let your lizard soak in a tub with a bit of warm water on the bottom (not too much, enough so the lizard can get their belly warm, but still have their head above water) and cover it, making something similar to a sauna.
You can also put some warm, moist moss or paper towels in one of the gecko's hiding spots. This helps them out a lot. Additionally, providing something rough for them to rub up against while shedding, to remove the excess skin helps. My Jenny likes to rub up against the large rock on the back of her cage to peel off the skin to a point where she can bite it and peel it off herself.
hay you can buy stuff for their eyes. your vet should have told you about it. its like the same thing a pink eye stuff for people but yah a ladie i know used it on a leo thats eyes were like full of puss and it worked lol idk but you should look into it. also under tank heaters can mess up and burn your pet and thats bad =/
I used some eye care stuff that the vet gave me and it didn't work. :(
And under tank heaters are what nearly every leopard gecko breeder and keeper uses, and they're recommended more for leos than any other form of heat. Perhaps you're thinking of heat rocks? They burn reptiles, but heating pads don't, to my knowledge.
that is one peculiar hair style

My leopard gecko looks, seriously, almost EXACTLY like her. :D I am so happy to know that someone else has one that looks so much alike.
Also, I do the same thing with the paper towels. It makes thens ten times easier when cleaning.
