Well...I love 80's bands, like Def Leppard, and I must confess that if I get to know any song by an 80's band at first, I won't probably enjoy that same song as a recent version by any other artist. I think Mariah added sensuality, rhythm and the whistle note fits the soft guitars so perfectly, and even though I checked the original version, I like Mariah's better. Maybe that's a matter of sequence, AT ME.

I used to hate all covers of songs that came along, like when Marylyn Manson did Soft Cell's Tainted Love...but then I was knocked down when years later I found out that Soft Cell's was a cover of Gloria Jones, then found out that Bow Wow Wow's I want Candy was originally from the Strangeloves. I learned to stop getting so frustrated and just listen to music. Different versions I prefer over others and that's that.
