  • Holla! Have you thought about intellectus diet (search on google for intellectus424dietcom)? Ive heard some great things about it and my mate lost a ton of weight with it.

  • I love mexican food

And i dont actually thinks its a sin food

If its real mexican food then i think its pretty healthy i mean i eat it all the time! Yummmmmyyyyyyyy :D

Im a sucker for mexican food lol

  • eat as much as you like people , life is short , enjoy it as much as you can ....

  • Most Mexican food has nothing to do with eating chips. In fact, most Mexican food is very healthy.

  • Your hot!

  • Can't generalize a cuisine as "Sin food". There are so many healthy mexican food selection that one can indulge in sinlessly! Research!

  • @almasrik I agree with you, I'm mexican and the real taco doesn't have fried tortillas ¬¬ and each tortilla has 50 calories

  • you're freakin beautifulllllllllll and i have mexican food daily, im mexican, haha no corn chips at home though

  • Your videos are so helpful. Thank you!

  • sometimes ur set as online so i try to talk i even send u a nudge but u dont reply

  • wow, ridiculously informative! soo great, thanks!

  • hi shanti how come u dont reply on yahoo

  • I do reply and if you remember, we've had several conversations. When you message me when I am asleep and not at the computer, how can you expect me to reply?

  • I <3 U

  • I made a complete arse of myself counting chips once. When someone asked me why I was counting my chips I decided to distract them by making the chips talk to each other in little chip voices...... actually i was drinking at the time so completely acceptable.

I wish we had mexican food in Australia.

  • Oh mexican food - so delicious and SO dangerous. Great video!

  • Another option is to order vegetarian - most the time it's a burrito stuffed with grilled veggies. You still get the flavors of a burrito (or enchilada or whatever) without the extra fat, cholesterol, and calories of a meat. It's tasty, I promise! Also, the refried beans are frequently made with lard, so the veggie option will get a different, healthier bean (usually whole pinto beans) just a thought.I'm so gonna start counting my chips...I'm always frustrated when I overeat them....great idea!

  • Everybody DOES overeat the chips. By the time you are done with the chips & salsa no one is even hungry, but we all just keep going.

    *sigh* Mexican food.

  • this was great, i really love this video. very helpful

  • is your tongue pierced?

  • yes...

  • ooooooor you could just make mexican your cheat meal!!! lol ;)

  • HAhahah true that :D

  • irish holiday... mexican food..

    wtf?

    No relation!!! xD

  • It was sarcasm!

  • Good topic! Good ideas! Great Vid!

  • Shanti, been there done it.

It is not working with portions.

    Cause I do them

And I do wait for 5 mins between them.

But it seems that is not working.

    I'll try and that's a promisse.

  • *shrugs* I HATE mexican food. I only eat mexican food like once or twice a year... Can't stand it.

  • I love chicken doner kebabs in pitta bread with burger sauce instead of chilli sauce on the salad, Mmmmmm! A small 1 is about 900 calories but oh soo good. I normally eat half with extra veg & fridge half for the next day.

  • WOOHOO! Thanks for this video Shanti!! I'm a little proud of myself... I'm already ordering taco salads... guac/sour cream on the side... and not eating the shell! lol I hadn't thought about pre-counting the chips though!! <3

  • Also: I'm sure it's partially a cost-issue, but mostly b/c the majority of people probably wouldn't care anyway, but every single time I go to any restaurant where you get some kind of bread and dip or chips and dip I always wish you had the option to get raw veggies to dip instead of chips. So much tastier (imo), but healthier too for those who care about that kinda thing

  • It's helpful to remember that the average patron of the average restaurant simply doesn't give a shit about their health. This is why Burger King for example came up with the dietary monstrosity that is the "enormous omelet sandwich"; they are simply giving their customers what they want. It's sad, but so very true.

It's also not very cost effective to stock an option that a very small percentage of your clientele will pick; especially an option with a short shelf life.

  • My fave mexican food (like really my fave, not just b/c I'm actively trying to be healthier) is getting either a grilled chicken dish or fajitas (but I don't eat the tortillas) and eating them with a side of sour cream (kinda in the same way as you and the salad) and dumping the salsa on top. SO good. I'm one of those lucky weirdos who doesn't like cheese or bread or chips, but the chips are still hard to resist at least having a few!

Also, a cool topic might be "healthy" cocktails

  • Fajita meat with peppers, onions, salsa and guac. I always tell them to not bring chips. Out of sight, out of mind!

  • Im obviously MEXICAN so for me its not a sin food its an everyday thing usually! especially if mom is in town! LOL and the hardest thing is making an OLD FASHIONED MEXICAN lady willing to substitue certain things in the recipe to make it a little more diet friendly! LOL

  • hmm

--- I always order off the kids menu at mexican places... ;)

  • I can't eat everything I want because I am diabetic :P

  • soul food! that would be a great topic. fried chicken, yummy sweet potato pie....all the good stuff.

  • Oh and I would love to hear you guys talk about Indian food. This one of my absolutely favorites :)

  • I count out my chips too...of course the people I'm with typically know why lol. If you don't feel comfortable telling folks that you're counting calories you could always tell them that you don't want their grubby hands on YOUR chips haha.

  • I've taken to asking for many things "on the side" Because some places get really carried away with condiments!

Business lunch: "there'll be time enough for countin', when the dealin's done!!"

Sorry I'm getting silly here. Great vid Shanti!

  • Just about all sit down restraunts overdo it on the condiments.

I asked for mayo on the side the other day for my grilled chicken sandwich, as most places literally slather the sandwich with it, which besides being unhealthy, is also disgusting, as the mayo flavor masks all others. Eww.

You would think by ordering it "on the side" they would understand I want to use less of it: out comes a portion cup with enough mayo for at least 10 sandwiches!! WTF??

  • lol

  • I would love for you guys to talk about chinese food! ahhh it's sooo hard to eat it when eating healthy!

  • Great video!

  • Love the tip on putting the toppings on the side and just dipping your fork in them instead of eating the whole glob of it. I'm gonna do my salads/salad dressings that way from now on! Thanks for the tip! Saving those extra calories not spent on eating all the toppings can be better spent in other before or after work out snacks! Great video!!!

  • I would love to see your guys tackle Chinese food next! Chinese can be a whole world of dietary evil.

I am confused as to why you put the guacamole on the side though.

I understand the avocado is high in fat, but it's high in the good fats, and considered to be a super-fruit.

Is the typical Mexican restaurant adding other ingredients to the avocado that need not be there like full fat sour cream?

  • By the way, according to "caloriecount", one cup of Avocado has 240 calories, 22 Grams of fat, 10 grams of fiber, and 3 grams of protein, and a whooping 25% of the daily value for Vitamin C.

  • Yeah, avo is really really good for you and I love to eat it, but if you're watching your calories and want to indulge in something crappy for you like chips, it makes sense to avoid the guacamole because of the high calories.

  • Great Mexican food advice....I love taco salads, I personally hate that shell. Sometimes I just ask that the restaurant put it in a bowl for me.

  • so my question is how does St. Patricks day relate to Mexican food?

  • nothing

  • sorry i didnt mean to sound rude. i was just curious since you kinda said you were going to talk about mexican food because it was st. patricks day.

  • LOL no I was being sarcastic at the beginning of the video...

  • stuff with mole sauce is a great option too and it also tastes really good!

  • This was areally good topic! Thanks for the tips!! so how many chips do you put on tyour napkin???

  • I usually have 20-30 :P

  • This was a good video.

I'm sick and ordering food in because preparing food seems like so much effort. These are things I can use when the food comes (because we have a family of four here, it's not just me!)

  • This was super helpful, thanks!

  • But what's the sodium content in those corn chips?? It's quite high..

  • I am not saying that you should go out and get Mexican because it's health food, but if you're out and want to indulge a little, you can do so and not go crazy.

  • I know, I agree! I just start thinking about all the content of the food is all haha

  • :-)

  • Fantastic, as always. I would totally do the same with the chips. But I'm not a huge chip fan so I think I'd save my calories haha

  • Great Video!! Except now I am craving mexican food!!! :D

  • Awesome tips. Fortunately, I despise Mexican Food... *throws up*... so that's one less thing to be tempted by I guess, although some nachos aren't that bad sometimes...

And Happy St. Patrick's Day -> go green = no pinch.

  • I sooo love Mexican..great tips! it's true..if I get the big portion I'm gonna eat it all LOL I rarely go out for Mex..but I usually just get a bean burrito, light on the cheese::....with rice..and sour cream on the side.. and water or unsweet tea..I figure thats not too bad. Now I'm thinking about Mexican..dang it. thanks! LOL

  • i eat mexican food on a daily basis. :D yay! stuff to stay away from: carnitas (its deep fried beef) and stay clear of flour tortillas! what sucks about mexican food restuarants they usually put a lot of oil in their rice and beans that doesnt really need to be there.

  • I love Mexican food! Def one of my weaknesses:) Thanks for the video Shanti! Oh yeah and I so dip my fork in the sour cream before eating. You save calories BIG Time.

    Angie

  • SHanti you are great. Love you sense of humor when you make your vids. That's what I try to do when I go to mexican restaurant with the chips and salsa. I usually order chx fajitas no dairy, no guac extra pico!!! :D Great vid!!

    Cheers,

    Mari

  • Mexican food is my all time favorite. In a way, it's good that England doesn't have ONE single good Mexican restaurant. This way, I don't have to worry about wanting to binge and get Mexican all the time haha :D

  • Does England have any good restaurants?

  • I haven't found any restaurants that I absolutely love since I've lived here. My favorite is an Indian restaurant, haha.

  • Yes, when I visited the UK I found that Indian or Italian were the best choices. British food is greasy, bland and overcooked!

  • Get tips girl!
