  • All the people who viewed the video have not mentioned about the movie- Sivagangai Cheemai- starring T K Bhaagavathi, SS Rajendran etc. This was produced as a rival movie to Veerapandia Kattabomman by Sivaji. However the lyrics and dialaques in the movie were penned by Kannadasan. Though the movie flopped in the box office, still music was enjoyable

  • தமிழர்க்கு பெருமை சேர்க்கும் பாடல்.நல்ல பாட்டு.

  • Oh, I see!

Thanks for the correction on 'oor, peiyar, chaathi and more.. on these high achieving women.

  • Saroja Devi isn't a Tamilian. She is from Karnataka.

  • I am certain Hema Malini is from Kerala- Palghat Tamil but definetely not Tamil Nadu. The producers were not keen on tamil actresses may also be majority of Tamil women were not 'fair' in color in comparison. A bias even now. As mentioned 1% of the cream of the crop at the top maybe 'fair' and belonged to the Upper caste or class. They in turn would not easily enter the film industry. Exceception to the rule was Vyjayanthimala or Padmini or Kamala Laxman. primarily B.Natyam exponents.

  • @ilakumi

    Hemamalini is a pakka tamilian

    from wiki

Hema Malini Chakravarty was born in a Tamil Iyengar family at Ammankudi, Tiruchirappalli (Trichy- short name )

  • @ilakumi For your information Hemaji is Tamil.

  • @ilakumi

podalangaa paalakaadu!!, hemamalini enga ooru amma enga ooru, srirangam kelvi paturikiyoh, sri vaishnavaa iyengaar kelvi patrikiyoh, daiyavu seithu antha pallakaadohdu kalisadaiyohdu otthu vachu pehshaathel,

t rajakumari, e v saroja, vasantha kokilam, m s subhulakshmi ellam namma oorutheyn, sri deviyum namma ooru theyn, padmini is mallu

  • Many of these women in this song as well as in the current Tamil movies are not entirely women from Tamil Nadu but are either Telungu, Kannada or Malayalam. Majority of the Tamil women are conservative and will not easily venture into the entertainment business.

Correct me if i am wrong?

  • @ilakumi true ... we have saroja devi , jayalalitha, vanishree to name few. But tamil film producers not keen on tamil actress those days for unknown reason , if not hema malini would not have migrated to hindi after the director renegede on his word to pair her as heroine in " Ethu Sathyam" instead she just appear in just one song sequemnce.

Not many know Hema Malini is a Tamilian.

  • Is it AK47>> At the beginning?

  • Of course, this is from Sivagangai seemai. penned by Kannadasan

  • I think this song is from SIVAGANGAI CHEEMAI produced and directed (I am not sure) by Kavignar Kannadasan

  • Great dance. And I enjoyed the comment and response about the pulchritude of Tamil women versus the men. I am 100% Tamil and I agree with @pobox101.

And yeah, which movie is this from?

  • watch the wonderful folk dance

    what a choreography!!!!!!!!!!

  • could u please tell me what movie this is from and where i could download this song from

  • Dear friend Susiappa, I am indeed, thanking you for putting to an END to my unrealistic vision. ALMIGHTY of course, created good looking men as well as pretty women everywhere. I hope those square eyes directors and pretty women from Tamil Nadu gets you caught in their eyes soon. By the way, in case you're curious, I'm 100% straight !

  • My dear Browsers, No offence to my Tamil bros but one thing always puzzled me as to why Tamil women folks are very beautiful looking yet their men folks are not so good looking? Anyone has got comments on it but please refrain from abusive language. My intention is NOT to write any one or any group down. Thanks a lot.

  • @pobox101 coz men like me haven't caught the eyes of film directors. LOL

  • @pobox101 I guess you are looking at the cream of the crop. Every race has beautiful and ugly people. In the West most of the whites are pale ugly. Only a small percentage are good looking. In India with 1 billion plus people you will find the most attractive women and handsome men but a big percentage, perhaps 90% that are not so good looking. It is just simple statistics. In the black Afroamericans there are quite stunning beautiful women and some very handsome men but most are not attractive.

  • @pobox101 My dear friend, many north Indian and east Indian men have asked the same question to me.Of course I did not know what to reply immediately and then said that, there are many handsome men in my family itself ! But I don't know whether they believed me or not !

  • @pobox101 You are right. Of course an answer needs to be based on genetics as well. At the same time your question is more or less a generalization. Tamilian prototypes do exist though they are very rare now. I think you are puzzled by not so much the looks but the striking diffidence in colors. Often Tamilians (and for that matter all Dravidayans) are believed to be dark in complexion. Yet MGR, Gemini Ganeshan, Ashokan, Jaya Shankar and Nambiyar of yesteryear were all fair in complexion.

  • @pobox101 Let me continue. Tamil women that you talk about are the screen idols (right?) not the ordinary women who walk the streets in southern India. Of course the former are the stereotypical Tamilian models while the latter are the typical southern women who cannot be claimed to be "good looking" as you would have us believe. Secondly your confusion is centered on percentages rather than gender difference. A good percentage of women are "good looking' while a greater percentage of men.....

  • @pobox101 ...are not. I am not surprised by this stereotyping of Tamils. Even in the North there are dark people but very few in number. So stereotypes favor them. Do you remember the "dirty and dark Tamilian" remark made by a certain American consular officer in Chennai recently? She was re-emphasizing the same racial stereotypes of Tamilians. Prototypical negative characterization of Tamilians and Drvidayans started centuries ago.
