  • There is no need for any Black person to be upset with what the racist says because you must ALWAYS remember that Jesus had hair like lambs wool which means he was a 4 type.

Black hair really scares racist because they are afraid of what that means...The oldest hair in the world is kinky hair...

  • Type 4c

  • this is a late comment but my WHITE fiancé of 6+ years has limp, oily hair and he LOVES my black, Natural hair. So these other ignorant crackers on this site are just hilarious. LOL keep moving

  • its 2011 and americans are still racist as hell.... get educated and mostly.. GROW THE FUCK UP

  • completely off topic, but what is the name of the song in the background? it sounds reeaallly good to relax to

  • type 4c

  • "Is your hair "foul" and too tight for a category?" Wow. This type of comment is exactly why you can't let everybody in your hair. People who have such a disdain for African hair, are most likely to damage it. They see the natural pattern as "bad" or in poor condition, so they'll always overprocess it. She's correct that African hair is fragile, and therefore, it has to be treated like a fine yarn. Sometimes do less to hair will mean more of it. Following every hair trend will take it out.

  • wtf was this?

  • You really didn't say a lot about type 4c...

  • Thanks

  • unfortunately there are quite a bit of misinformation in this video. Growing natural hair requires understanding of your own hair type, your own level of moisture and protein you need. There could be two type 4b girls and if they were to use a product maybe one of the girl's hair would respond well to the product and the other wouldn't. Taking care of any type of hair requires research and different methods from person to person. I don't need Dlocs to have my hair down my back.

  • It is not harder to grow. But it is more harder to maintain. As she said, the ends break easily so in essence, it is growing, but the ends snapping off, you cannot see the growth as much. I now braid my hair in big parts before washing it. That saves a slot of my hair when it is time to comb it and dry it out. I also dry it out in sections and rebraid it right away. I find this method much easier.

  • I like this video but I disagree when she says type 4a or type 4a,b,c is harder too grow, my hair us type 4a its very curly and it grows very fast when its natural so i don't agree with that. We can all have the same hair type 4 a,b or c, but all our hair still is different and grows differently at it's own rates. I agree, when she says it tends too look dry but is very moist, it has more sheen then shine. I like it better when its long but looks great short too . Very informative video. Peace

  • This is an EXXXXCELLENT video! Very educational!

  • thank you so so much i understand my hair better now

  • Thank you so much for explaining the different hair types. I just went BC on September 13th of this year (2010) and have about 1" on my head. It is hard to find out what to use on this length or what to do with it. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. It is a little aggravating watching the other videos with 3" or longer but very few with TBA's. Thanks

  • IM SOOOO BLESSED TO HAVE AFRO TEXTURE HAIR!!!! 7 YEARS NATURAL NEVER GOING BACK TO THE RELAXERS. HEY RACISTS REMEMBER WHEN U WATCH ALL THOSE FASHION SHOWS AND ALL THOSE MODELS ON THE RUNWAY AND THEIR BACK STAGE AND THEIR RANTING" TEXTURE, TEXTURE WE NEED MORE TEXTURE, AND THEN THEY FLUFF THE HAIR INTO A FLUFF AFRO IN THE BACK .....YEAH IT OUR HAIR THEY WANT AND WE CAN DO IT WITH NO CURLING IRON, NO TEASING COMB JUST THE GOD GIVEN GLORY WE ALREADY HAVE. SO HATE ON THAT HATER, LMAO!!!!

  • This was very informative!

  • I am so confused with my actual hair type.

its made of tight coils...yet it also has many larger curls...im not sure if its due to heating damage or what...if anyone knows..pleaseeee let me know!

  • @onBACKWARDS I doubt that it's heat damage. Mine is the same way. It's loosely coiled at the crown and the rest is tight.

  • I'm loving your videos....very informative~ so glad to find you today!

  • I love 4 type of hair because it's always big and puff, and most of the time it looks like it's not growing where it's usually very long.

  • i have both 4a and 4b, is there really such thing as 4c? if so what is it like? how do i know if i have it?

  • I have thick hair with a wave pattern. When I have twist or braids it usually looks like I have a perm and i don't. Can you please tell me what hair type I am because I'm still confused.

  • @26aowens me too.

I have large ringlet and wavey curls when wet, once dry i have a thick afro but on a strand level there is no curl at all, each strand is straight. Even if i don't bow dry.

i usually braid with oils after washing and on take out my hair is dead straight people always ask if is relaxed but i have never permed it! strange

  • Great video!!! Very informative. I have always wondered what was my true hair type and now I know. I am a 4a/b. Thanks a bunch : )

  • I'm type 4a with a mix of 3c in the front. lol so you know its crazy breakage at times tight curls on this side and lose curls on the other. I have to be careful what products I use. I'm 8 months natural !Thanks for this video

  • so havning type 4 hair is difficult to maintain and grow? shit...... i should perm again.... I went natural because i was hoping it will grow. Its growing, but breaking at the same time when i comb, i have to comb, bcause i dont like my hair matted up..

  • @temickab Do you comb with conditioner and while your hair is sopping wet? DONT perm again! And youu might need moisture.

  • rusticbeauty, blackonyx77 they have type4

  • @temickab

I have noticed the same thing with my hair. The back which is curly will grow long as hell, but the front ( nappy) will grow slower resulting in damn near a mullet..or let black folks call it.. a shag. I use de-tanglers and heavy conditioners that help with manageability so no hair comes out when I comb but it still does not grow at the same rate. I am constantly cutting the back of my hair to even out hair growth. You are type 4 hair is harder to grow out.

  • @greencar08 i notice my hair is growing rapidly yet, i get confused about my hair, i look at some of the older pictures of my current hair length, and it still looks the same to me, i dont know, im confused,,,,i will do another length check in may im just ready for it to GET longer so i can do more things to it

  • i hope your not combing it when its dry. wet it use lots of conditioner or a detangler (kinky-curly knot today) then comb with wide tooth comb or denman like brush and you be st8. it shouldn't be breaking.

  • There is wiry, cottony, thready and spongy type 4s. I happen to be spongy. Not all type 4s are wiry.

  • @ubergirliz1 i wish i was type 3, its beautiful

  • My hair is very strange. After growing my hair out natural I have discovered that the sides and back are curly but the top and front are kinky. My mother said my father's hair did the same thing, curly in back and nappy in front. What kind of hair is this!! I have noticed also that the straighter hair grows faster than the tighter hair no matter how I cut it and products used

  • @greencar08 Not true.

  • @ubergirliz1

What's not true?..my hair?... I think I know my hair better than you do. I am talking about the hair on my head that grows differently, so could you expound on what's not true.

    thanks

  • @greencar08 What are you even talking about?

  • @greencar08 usually people have more than one texture on their head. Idk what I am, but some parts of my hair are definitely curly, while others seem straight. And the curly hair is definitely growing at the same rate as the straighter hair, it's just not as noticeable since it grows in coils.

    hope that helped

  • oh wow same here! the back seems straight and just wont curl up but the middle curls up with no problem and the front is just plain frizz...im not sure what to type my self as so i'll just stick to 4b/c

  • Thank you Thank you Thank you. I never realized how fragile type 4 hair is. assuming that is my hair type. (now I know what i must do.

  • Instead of getting angry at the supposed racists who comment on these type of videos, I would just find it funny that they take time out of their day to look at videos about it. Obviously they have some type of fetish/fascination with natural hair.

  • @Xinoutorah yea they do and it's called jealousy lol

  • @Xinoutorah Yep. I agree.

  • @Xinoutorah Well they're amazed and moved by us, which is why they invest the time. You see we they don't have that problem with us... we hardly pay them attention unless it's in retaliation.

  • @Xinoutorah and that is what i always say this is youtube....you have to search for the video...

  • The music in the video is unnecessary, it takes away from the woman talking.

  • Ugh i hate racists! why are u even watching this

  • Don't pay IT no mind. If this loser took the time to search out the video AND leave a comment on top of that, then that shows more insecurity and jealousy than racism. :D People like that make me laugh, because in the end, the fact that they took the time to do this is embarrassing.

  • Yeah, anyways...

Like I said, the fact that you took the time to search videos of natural hair and leave a nasty comment about it makes you look like an insecure jackass. And your failed attempt to make me feel as insecure as you is just as embarrassing. But if that's what makes you feel better about yourself, then go right ahead, lol.

  • who do you think would care? by the way, your hair smells like wet nasty dog when wet...how you like us now?

  • thax 4 watching! it great to kno ppl like u love our hair so much u take time out to watch our videos!!! wow i feel special! I LOVVVVE MY HAIR and u do 2...just admit it!!!

  • @Naturallyhomegrown ????@ who???

  • O sry the racist guy dwn toward the bottom...i tried to reply to him!!!!! i HATE RACIST PPL! y must they take time out of their day to TRY and hurt ppl?!?! anyWAY GREAT VID! and dnt let negative ppl get 2 u!

  • Comment removed

  • Jealous loser, lol.

  • YOUR HAIR SMELLS LIKE A WET DOG'S ASS! Since you wanna talk hair types. Afro hair is gorgeous and versatile; nobody wants that limp BORING shit that just lays there like a wet puppy, lol lmao!! Yep, if I was a boring bitch like you, I'd hate us too!! Ta-ta

  • @lovelygirl6983 hahahaha for real

  • @joyariffic Usually I'm a nice person, but I just HATE racist people who are so unhappy with their lives and have nothing else to do but spew hatred and meanness!

  • @lovelygirl6983 lol me too, thats why it was so funny to me

  • @joyariffic I like you joyariffic, you have a great day sweetheart :)

  • @lovelygirl6983 thanks you too and thanks for the sub

  • @lovelygirl6983 LMAO you are funny

  • @Beauty2Beauty Lol yeh I cant stand haters man! Hatin on the black beauty

  • @lovelygirl6983 haha tell 'em girl.

  • @radicalevolutions U MUST BE WHITE, WHICH MEANS U MUST HAVE "FUR" WE ARE THE ONLY RACE THAT HAS HAIR! UR A HATER!

  • whats the difference between shine & sheen?

  • @Ch0xie shine is glassy like, sheen is like a soft shine like putting a sheer overlay on top of a shine. Simply shine is a dull shine. But I have 4ab hair and I achieve the shine by mixing raw coconut oil and honey together in a spray bottle and spaying it all over. Both honey and the coconut oil a nutritious for the hair

  • i have type 4b hair and i have no idea on how to style it, its about shoulder length but you can't tell b.c without straightening it i have a afro, which i'm in the army, do u have any tips? I used to wear micro's but they started pulling my hair out

  • what is a pin sized curls?

  • what if you only straightened your hair once is that bad?

  • By straightened , do you mean chemically or with heat?

  • with heat

  • I don t feel that heat is bad per say but I do think that IMO some hair doesnt really like heat or tolerate heat or heat extremes well. Personally I like my hair flat ironed but I havent done so in a while because I'm tryin to be really nice to my hair..... but if I want to switch things up or have somewhere special to go or do I will but whether it my beautician or myself there is always a protective element applied to the hair to help prevent heat damage.

  • Well, I have a combination of 4a in front and 4b near the back. How do I care for my hair or try to in some way control it in its natural state without combing it or using any sort of chemical or other straightening device?

  • you comb it when its wet not when its dry because it will break

  • You could detangle hair while in shower and while hair is loaded with conditioner use your fingers first to detangle hair as much as you can the you can use a wide tooth comb and work slowly from the ends up, also when rinsing donot scrunch hair or pile it on top ovf your head that just reinforces more tangles. By the way in terms of controling or styling what is your current length and/or goal?

  • type 3c and 4a is the same.

  • They have similarities but are not the same

  • I have 4a and she has described it to the "T".

  • Appreciate the time you took to break it down for people like me that didn't have a clue (lol), thank you so much!

  • your welcome no probem :)

  • Thank you so much for this videos. I always wondered what type of hair I had. You are a GOD send!!! Appreciate the video so much.

  • Thank you!
