If customer service hasn't told you yet...I imagine after two years they have...the poo crushing ball is nothing other than a super bouncy ball. Get a good bouncy ball out of one of those 25 cent vending machines and pop that bad boy in there. I have four using one CG. They all eat on a schedule since one is diabetic, no issues with the box here except the occasional water sensor deal.
Dude... your not using the device correctly. We have the same thing... if you use the lime/grime cleaning insert box thingy and run a cycle it cleans all the crap out of the pipes and filters. So then you dont have to worry about any clogs, the reason you have huge piles of ass pumpage (lol) is because it might have a clog. Ours works justtt fine and we have the same looking thing inside of it.
I'm sorry, but how in the h3ll do you have a problem of this magnitude for THAT LONG without NOTICING it??? This is CLEARLY an OPERATOR ERROR. I've had ZERO problems with BOTH of the units in our house, and customer service has been more than helpful any time I've called them with any questions. Did YOU call??
Dude, you are a moron. We have had one for almost two years now, and althought they can be tempermental, it always removes the waste as it should. You dumped that crap in there. You realize you have to hook it to a water supply and a waste water supply, right?
Why don't you just rain your cat to go on the loo search for the litter kwitter on ebay and type it in on hee and you'll see how it works it's alot better than that piece of crap :O Trust me it works im training my kittes to go on the loo :P ;) good luck!!!!! ;D
My sister and I got a Cat Genie about a month ago. From the very beginning there is this stench whenever we run the cleaning cycle. It stopped working a few days ago and then clogged up the toilet (which we flush at least once a day).
As an added bonus, one of our cats refuses to use it.
get a regular kitty litter and clean it a few times per day lazy douche bag. people who buy these are lazy people who probably have a disgusting dirty house.
i keep mine set to wash after evry use... have 2 cats and it works flawlessly for over 2 months and is still like brand new... i have no clue how yours got like that... never running the cleaning cycle?
I agree. My Cat Genie is a pile of crap. Wish I never got one. Only had it about 6 months. It just stopped working one day. Took it apart, cleaned it, still not working. And I DID follow the instructions to a T. And it still sucks my balls.
THANK YOU! I have been planning to get this thing, and trying to figure out where the hell I'll put it in my microscopic bathroom. you literally just saved me $400-ish bucks. Years ago I let my numbskull ex buy 4 (yeah, FOUR) Littermaids, one-after-another, each of which broke within 6-9 months. Those were over $200 each! We had a Litter Robot, and it really worked, save for a little leakage in the pan due to 1 dumb kitty who peed when the pan was in mid-turn. Get a Litter Robot: HUGE, but WORKS
yea .. mines done it a couple of times.. see that clear thing on the left... pull it out.. if its all clogged and has stuff all over it, clean it and try running it again. thats how i fixed mine... but of course... i had the awesum task of pulling all that crap out first =\
I picked one up a month or so ago, and never had a problem with it. This video looks like your missing the little rubber ball that goes in the disposal are. In fact, it's working right as I type this. idk what the issue with your's is, but I can assure people, this isn't normal.
I bought this contraption and after installing it and doing a test flush i packed it up and sent it right back. What a rediculous waste, it takes 40 minutes to cycle. THere's to many steps involved with removing the waste, drying, then pouring into the toiled. They need to come up with a a toilet extension for cats that will work with the toilet and flush the stuff in one shot
i'm sorry but it looks like you just put all that shit into the catgenie from a litterbox. And you have litter in there not the granules they don't look like that at all. Or if you mixed cat litter with the cat granules that might have something to do with it not working.
@PaRTYriTEheRE To all naysayers, and anyone aspiring to debunk this according to how the hoses look in the video, what the s*** looks like, or what you believe should be there, you're wrong. I followed the instructions to a T. The plastic granules are what you see. I'm happy that some have got a few laughs out of the video, and it was set on YouTube not to bash CatGenie (although it sure as hell sounds like that's what I'm doing) but for me to have a place to vent. Those are plastic granules
i'm sorry but it looks like you just put all that shit into the catgenie from a litterbox. And you have litter in there not the granules they don't look like that at all.
"We've got some roommates and they've been complaining 24/7" LMFAO classic line. I was going to get this but I guess I'll stick to the good ole aluminum pan. Lol
@army7989 Yes, of course if needs power and the water line, and to all asking, I believe it was the earlier model, but it's been a while, and it was a gift at the time.
Was this the 60 model? Was it level? I have been running my cat genie for a month now with 4 cats and never a problem. I dont see a ball in that poo compartment, mine came with a rubber ball to put in it. That sucks yours does not work.
I don't see how it was even running if it was that clogged. It took you that long to look at it? It should have given you BEEP errors. Customer support is awesome, and the green ball is jut a rubber ball like you can buy from the gumball machines. Mine has worked really well. I just hate the cats tracking the pellets everywhere in the house.
Try getting a Litter Robot. Made in America, year and half warrenty, repairable and it uses gravity instead of water. I just got one and I'm very happy.
I have three cats. I have problems with my CG constantly. I have to clean the water sensor after every use, and still it will not work sometimes. From all the post reading that I have done, I am starting to understand that issues seem to be more frequent when there is more then one cat using it.
@Kinagis That's really pushing it, having 3 cats. If you keep having to clean the sensor unit, the whole thing is dirty. It does require some maintenance. I totally clean mine out every 3 months. Kinda nasty to do, but it's worth it.
That's a bummer that yours failed. I have no idea why it would have done that. I have had a CG (and prior to that its predecessor the Litterfree) since 2006. It occasionally gets a clog in the hose when it ingests a few too many granules. This may happen once or twice a year. You just blast water through the drain hose and clean out the hopper. It still beats a regular box or ANY other "automatic" box. You should have called the manufacturer. They are very helpful, and will even send parts.
A slight urine smell during the blow drying step, but that goes away after completion. Lastly, use Cate Mode. It cleans more often and is the most efficient!!!
Actually bud, The unit had been moved from it's original location to somewhere I could work on it more easily. The tangled mess you see is not how it was positioned. There was no green ball mentioned in the manual, nor did it come with the packaging. I did contact customer service recently for my friend whom I mentioned before and they said nothing about a green ball when I told them this was the second time I have had this problem. I also do not recall a Cate Mode, just 1-4 times a day.
This guy obviously has no clue how to read directions!!! Look at his exit hose!!!! Haaaaaaa. the hose needs to run on the floor and then straight up 90 degrees to the drain. His hose comes out of the unit and goes straight up and is all tangled. READ YOUR MANUAL!!! Also, he probably forgot to put the little green rubber ball in hopper, which breaks up everything solid that goes down there. I have had mine for a year now, and no problems...
Did you hook it up to the cold water and hook it up to the wastewater drain?? I have had mine for over 2 years, and aside from having to change out the granules, or the arm, and purchasing the sani-solution, I have not had a problem with it. You need to contact customer service on your problems with it. It does not do any good if you do not have it hooked up to the wastewater drain and the cold water outlet.
I cant help but ask if you have called customer service? You should have called way before it every got to there being 2 pounds in the hopper. Sounds like an owner not taking care of the product not the product itself.
Put on some gloves and get all of the cat shit out of there and wash the hopper on up and put it back in and run a cycle. If it doesn't work call Customer service and they will probably send you a new hopper.
Here's the thing. It has a large "screw like" rotating assembly where all the waste falls in that is supposed to break down and funnel all the material into the drain pipe. If the feces are too soft they will stick to the side as you see in the video. If they are too hard they will break the mechanism. Because it first scoops out the solid waste into one portion of the machine, then flushes the bowl down into the basin of the machine,
no water or disinfectent ever reaches where the solid waste goes, leaving it open to fester mold and all sorts of other "bad" things. We have 4 cats, so I realize this is an extreme situation, but it is a situation. We immediately once realizing the problem took apart every portion of the machine, bleached everything, put it back together, and gave it as a gift to a friend with ONE cat.I posted this video about 6 months after this happened, and he's been running it without a problem ever since.

all I can say is my own history with this item.
We got the first design CG and it was trouble from day 1.
Then we got the New CatGenie and it works like a charm!
