  • Who gives a shite! A German gun could blow a Prod or Catholic brains out without giving a SHITE! They died and we still kill each other because we have not learnt a thing and we are still thick as SHITE! Thick prod and Catholic and Muslim and Jewish and wathever bastards blowing each others brains out.

  • wot the hell r u guys all about? war is war no matter where u come from, its stil one man killing another in the name of power or greed, mans blind indifference to his fellow man!! just listen to the lyrics and be humbled, lynne.

  • The first time I heard this song many years ago live, sitting three feet from Finbar at the Buffalo Irish Center in the early 90's, I could not help but be moved to tears, it wrenches the soul.

So many artists have covered this and all have done justice to the message this song conveys.

There is no room for squabbling at a funeral and those who do simply come accross as snotnosed punks forgetting themselves in disrespect.

Blame the bankers who finance both sides in blind indifference to man.

  • The fat bastard in number 10 at the moment still sends young lads to get their brains blown out just to keep that clown in charge of the USA happy. I hope I live to see the day him and Tony Blair do 20 years in prison for war crimes.

  • I agree with you wholeheartedly.

It is so unfortunate that we are all lied to and manipulated by those in the shadows, those nameless, shameless bastards of greed.

Greed kills. But what do they care? THEIR sons are spared. the rest of us all are fodder. Beware the new world order.

Is there a camera on your street?

  • It's such a beautiful song and while I'm a tad envious of your experience, I'm hopeful that I'll never have the pleasure to hear this song in a live setting as I can't help but become an emotional washcloth at "Well I hope you died quick and I hope you died clean..." as it all goes downhill from there for me, if you know what I mean? This definitely ranks highly among the most moving songs I've ever heard. Soul wrenching indeed.

  • 32longyears in answer to ur argument u dont have a fuckin clue what u r goin on about Go wiggy1988!!!!

  • War would end if the dead could return home.

  • lol

  • I was always led to believe that Ireland had a very good education system

    seems not,

I may sound like a computer but you sound like a complete numpty who knows nothing

  • I said that, because in the vid its made to look like a republican song. And most of those who fought in WW1 from Ireland were Loyalists from Ulster who wanted to gain support for remaining part of the UK

I'd argue with the rest of what you said but its like reading a letter someones written after being beaten over the head with a shovel. Its full of stupid comments and rambling nonsense

  • ha about 250000 irish volunteers fought for england in world war one now im not sure if that includes the loyalists as well but we had had just as many or more as u in the first world war (not something im proud of but its a fact)

anyway this song is a great song i love it it doesnt matter if its a loyalist song or a republican song its a great song

  • "don't reply again"

    OK...oh wait, whoops.

P.S. you ended your sentence in a comma which is incorrect.

did you see what I did there?

  • as long as I don't end up like you I'll be happy. Because you sound (and act) like a complete moron.

PS. Your spelling was better but your grammar is still crap. I mean why a "?" at the end of that sentence? Its not a question...sorry I'm going off topic

  • "racist thats a cheap shot" a few lines later "orange prick" oh my god, your stupidity level just went up a few thousand points.

Actually I probably have a much better idea of the History of Ireland than you do, since I'm willing to look at both sides without acting like a prick. And using the fact that I'm a student to disagree with me is a bit of a shitty argument.

PS. your spelling and grammar is terrible, its almost unreadable. Please try harder.

  • aww did I get you all angry.

it must suck not being able to come up with an intelligent response. I can hear your straining from here. Still racist bigots such as yourself never did have much time for educating yourself.

P.S. try not to crap your pants from trying to write a coherent reply to this

  • 1-The War was over by the time of the I.W.O.I

2-The IRA failed to achieve its objective of a united Ireland...hence a civil war over the peace treaty

3-By the time of the treaty, the IRA was doing very badly, an offensive had failed and civil war was forcing them to lessen their attacks on British forces.

Now go and read a history book and stop talking crap

  • Nobody can say anything who lives today about those who died for your freedom today. Our Irish soilders that went to war to fight not for a cause that benifited them but others, Ireland was nutural and Irish soilders still fought, mat they R.I.P amd to exscape the war back home. Hasn't our history and war after war thought you morons anything, you wouldn't know what war is like all that go's out the window when in war, they died for everyone.

  • wrong, during WW1 Ireland was still part of Britain.therefor it was very much Irelands war.

And it was mainly Ulster regiments that went to fight, and their loyalty lay with Britain, not an Irish republic. In fact this song is about a soldier of an Ulster Regiment.

I'm trying to be an arse or anything but thats how it was. This song is about a Loyalist soldier. Not some Republican volunteer

  • there wer 150000 irish volunteers in 1914 and 15000 didnt go off to fight world one so at least 135000 did

i think there was 100000 in the ulster volunteer force at the time and they went off to fight

and whats the big deal its a great song about a brave soldier who could have been a protetant or a catholic it doesnt matter

i used to think this was about a republican who died because my whole family loves the song and they are catholics from dublin

  • I'm only bringing it up because peope seem to think this is an Irish Rebel song when it ain't. Its clearly an anti-war song

  • you silly fuck pigs the only history that you ever know is tinted with green specs, you are the the fuckin bigots by not integrating the schools, plus you were the ones that surrendered not the loyalists. QUIS SEPARABIT AND FOR GOD AND ULSTER

  • can some one tell me what may the 4th is about......thom...keep living on someone else's memorys there's no need to educate your self just live on ignorance

  • fuck st patricks day may 4th good excellent song

  • this is in luton. market hill

  • dropkick murphy's? xD

  • well, I was there and it was definately on st patricks day. And with regards to rimmrells comments. I think this has a great atmosphere. So 5 stars from me

  • I went to the Fureys concert at Croydon , Fairfield Hall on St Patricks Day 17 March 2007 - an evening concert. This video does not have even the tiniest touch of the incredible mesmerising atmosphere there was at that concert. The audience tears flowed in laughter and sadness as our emotions were wrench from high to low and back again. I was there, and it was definitely St Patricks Day, 17 March 2007.

  • 4th may isnt st patricks day omg noobish twat
