  • Clapton is limited, predictable and boring. Somebody please teach him something different than the blues and pentatonic scales.

  • it's amazing

  • Respectively, Each one of these musicians have major influences on up and commers for the past 25 years at least

  • i am guitarrist, in brazilina music, do you like brazilian style jazz? VISIT ME and post one coment please.

  • is that a bird, plane, a UFO, not superman

    WTF THATS SUPERMEN sheeeeeeeeet

  • WHY must the Arts be in every school? Because the LONGEVITY that these gentlemen have been able to sustain HAS to start young so that the appreciation is for a LIFETIME.

  • 5:11 david sanborn sound "work song" of nat adderley...just GREATTTTT!!!! damn this is my shit!!!!

  • SAY!

    These guys are pretty good.

  • I officially renounce my religion and worship at the Altar of Sanborn.

  • this is a fantastic example of "great- amazing-artists- in- their- own- right- yet- get- together- to- share- the- stage" to show us how a love and appreciation of music will unite them. I utterly fell in love with jazz for this reason and the impromptu 'jam sessions' they usually stirred up! :-D xx P~

  • @puddles626 Yeah, you've put it very succinctly!

  • great song by david sanborn

    awesome!

    best musicians in one band

  • damn this is so good

  • Eric hanging in there with the Crusaders just awesome. And Sanborn with his Dukoff mpc sqeezing the tone out of his MVI. Ahhhhh!

  • DAMN

  • What a great combo with these guys! Pickin up a little Jazz Fusion :-! That's ma Eric.

  • wow

  • je ne sais pas si il existe un cd ou dvd de tous ces grands ,j'aimerais bien

    un superbe plaisir

  • Miller and Gadd are two, too scary motherFuckers...trust me, I know. MM I want my hat back...

  • Loved it! ALL the great heavyweights sharing the same stage together. I wish I coulda saw that for myself!

  • I think that is the best I have ever heard Clapton play. Never really thought that much of his playing but this was on point. Great rhythm, great tone, represented a nice style on the solos, fantastic emotion. Well done EC

  • What is the name of this song & who's CD would it be on?

  • too bad i wasn't there!

    incredible line-up!

  • Ace; brightened up my Sunday night!

  • It really does'nt get much better than this lot! Great!

  • This is a dream band. Incredible...

  • Dave looks alot like randy travis.

  • thx for posting this... one of the positive examples for combining "modern/technical" playing with rrrealll old blues feeling

  • Yeah, I totally agree!

Marcus' solid slap bass lines are terrific. I'd liked to see this feisty bunch of musicians reunited for a series of concerts on many European countries, Greece included.

  • God on drums...

  • Yes, Steve was busy in heaven, so God stood in....

  • True! God Gadd is on them skins! Awesome!!!

  • Ahah, Sanborn plays "Work Song" by Nat Adderley at 5.10.

All stars band by the way. :)

  • @Aiina and Marcus references it in the beginning of his solo!

  • I think Clapton is as boring and predictable here as he´s been for the last 40 years and despite his attempts to be he´s not funky at all. Great performance from Sanborn and Miller though!

  • @funkyjazz321 I absolutely agree with you.

  • Great video Manjavacas !!! I also recommend to you: LEYENDS LIVE AT MONTREAUX JAZZ FESTIVAL, I think in 1997.

  • Dang, Gadd's lockin' it in the pocket! DEEP!

  • Clapton shows us here how there is more to a solo than the scale choice. He hangs in there amongst those changes with spirit. Good to hear him get feisty when he gets out of his comfort zone.

  • @thejudge99 , I saw Clapton and BB King and they played 3 hrs straight without leaving the stage in Michigan and I KNOW Clapton can do more than scale changes!!!!!!!

  • What a wonderful pairing of musicians. Clapton sounds GREAT here. I think he totally steps up his game.

  • all u guys are retards...all these guys can play their asses off...get a life....and do ur homework before you monday morning quaterbacks critique greatness

  • Please do not only look at their names, of course it is more likely that big names like clapton produce great music BUT you still should be able to get your mind off the name and on the music. In this song Clapton does a good rhythm guitar work, but when it comes to the solo it is just his usual rambling kind of blues playing the funk and the jazz that make this song work are gone and that is I hope not usual for Clapton that is why I think he is exchangeable this time.

  • incredible!!! 5 legends togethers!!!

  • this is the thing that i love about YouTube... the fact that you can find the most unusual musical combinations that you wouldn't find anyplace else. probably not the best version of this song... but defintely worth seeing these guys all play together. especially, Clapton... whose not known really known for playing contemporary jazz music.

  • Clapton is not playing jazz here, he is doing his pentatonic blues scale routine....

  • i wasn't analyzing what Clapton is playing. i was referring to the setting that he's "playing in." besides, it's not uncommon that blues scales are played in jazz. even contemporary jazz, which is a hodge-podge of various styles of music.

  • ah, the setting...ok. still it is not common to use only the 2 pentatonic scales in contemporary jazz. but dont get me wrong, i love clapton. unplugged is one of the best alltime albums ever

  • here are some jazz tunes that contain solos using pentatonic scales (p5's and altered pentatonics) --- Chick Corea's - Matrix (fr. Now He Sings, Now He Sobs) Wayne Shorter's - Ginger Bread Boy (fr. Miles Smiles) Joe Farell's - Moon Germs (fr. Moon Germs) Keith Jarrett's - Forest Flower (fr. Forest Flower) Joe Henderson's - No Me Esquela (fr. In Pursuit of Blackness) Herbie Hancock's - Hand Jive (fr. Nefertiti) i'm sure there must be other examples, as well.
  • Corea's solo's are pentatonic in Matrix?? do you actually know what pentatonic scales are?

  • Chick definitely uses pentatonic scales.

  • chick? Joe?

  • Anyone have put it where you want it? Not from this show, but a great performance...

  • gadd: great

    miller: good

    sample: good

    sanborn: Incredible

    clapton: exchangeable

    YOU: SUCK

How can u think that sanborn is bad... he is probably the best up there retard
