  • Maya is a one the kindest souls I have ever had the good fortune of knowing. Thinking of you today Maya.

  • Maya is a sweetheart. She looks like she just loves the pool....good job!!!

You are blessed to be owned by a gentle giant!!!

Gizmo had surgery on his front leg for a bone chip a few years ago, they never did find the chip, but seems to be coping quite well at the moment....

  • Glad to hear that Gizmo is doing well. Hope his good health continues.

Maya's always loved to swim. Her favorite things: food, food, fetching her Kong in the water, food, and being social. So her therapy in the pool is no problem. (The only 'problem' now is that we have to make her stop swimming way before she wants to stop.)

Big Newfy kisses from Maya to Giz!

  • I have seen a few dogs with missing legs. They seem to cope well, but usually they also seem to be smaller breeds.

Trying to imagine our Newfoundland with three legs. It would make life very tough indeed.

    Best of luck with Maya

  • Thanks so much. It was a hard decision to have her leg removed, especially since it was a front leg. She had bone cancer. (May still have it;nit hasn't shown back up yet.) I found lots of support and helpful info on the net.

She has a thin build for a Newfy and we've always watched her wt. We have a front wheel cart for her, but she hates it. There'll be a day she'll have to use it, but not yet.

I looked at your lovely boy Dexter having fun in the snow. What fun!

    Best to you & yours!
