  • Loved this. What a treasure. But I noticed one thing - look at all the white people.

  • Trafffic at ten 'o clock, so they give him a left turn?

  • Look! No carry - ons!

  • This was great. I started in 1971 when we were just beginning to come out of the dark ages. I used a lot of the equipment shown on this video. It brings back good memories. Thanks!

  • Awesome, lost track of time watching this. Only thing is the FAA guy did say he started as a pilot in the war. I am guessing the war over Macho Grande. ;-)

  • I love this one !

  • When I started working at a Center in 1989, we had the same communication switches with the red lights, as shown in this film, lol.

  • Speaking of former airports...

  • @srodens sure there is one, look at 25:57 ...the guy in the first row, and his situation seems not bad. i believe that most things haven´t changed for the better...

  • It was nice seeing the place where I work 14 yrs before I was born! Pretty funny!

  • @msccna218

Is it the same now just with computers?

  • @nicpetnic I would say yeah. Tons of monitors throughout the building. At the sector there are 4, 1 for the radar screen, 1 for the flight data (assistant side of the sector) and the last 2 for the touchscreen communication systems.

  • To any air traffic controllers reading this - thank you!

  • This is way to cool.

  • Even back then flights from ORD to LAX took off on Runway 32 at Tango 10 -- some things never change.

  • A cultural treasure - thanks - more of the same, where do you get these? .....control tower training 1963....plenty of jobs there it seems. DC8 comfortable seats! oh, how nice, bring those back ! white shirts mandatory. .....DC8, what a beauty.

  • 18,000 controllers, wait...isn't that less than what we have now?

  • "taxi into position and hold" i miss those words

  • @pigkiller7171 Ditto, it feels very strange hearing "Line up and wait" from tower controllers in the United States.
