its funny that you people think that you can do this with any horse..you dont know how well this horse is trained..and you obviously dont know how reining horses are trained..ALSO the guy does have spurs on!
@sp0ttedp0ny330 because smartie not every horse can be! i have worked with so many horses that would NEVER EVER do this...and OMFG did i say spurs were bad??? NO i use them every day because I happen to ride/train reining/cutting/barrel horses. Not to mention i do english too..
@sp0ttedp0ny330 It ok just a confusion on your part. But some horses cant do this. Some horses may br truly intrainable and some arent. But the mare I am talking about would never do this. Not becasue she wasnt a reining horse just becasue she was crazy!
..i heard red in tail is a kicker, yellow in tail is a stud, and white is for sale, but i think since the yellow in his mane, if u listen closely i think the song says "i gotta yellow ribbon in somethin somethin"
It's actually an old song "Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree" which fell out of favor after 53 Americans were held hostage for 444 days in Iran during Jimmy Carter's presidency. People tied yellow ribbons around trees in support of the hostages. However, the yellow ribbons brought back bad memories of their time as hostages.
Actually, for ribbons in tails, yellow often means a kicker, red biters, etc. It's a warning for competitions for more then one horse in the ring at a time.
LoL no RED is for Kickers, a GREEN ribbon means horse is inexperienced and likely to misbehave, and a WHITE ribbon means the horse is for sale, YELLOW stallion etc....
You are looking great! I still teach what you taught me, "Perfection is a direction, not a place." Also the frog in the frying pan. Learned a lot from you thanks for being such a wonderful teacher!
This level of horsemanship is obtainable with any horse, with time and patience. Just goes to show that whips, spurs and harsh, painful bits, ARENT needed.
Its also interesting to see what head carriage is comfortable for the horse. I hate seeing horses forced to have their heads tucked right in, not only is it painful, but it also limits their field of vision.
most spurs are actually extremely dull, they do not hurt the horse. anyone who misuses them in anyway has no respect in the horse world.
its basically like the difference between someone touching you with a finger versus the palm of your hand. Its more precise and requires much less force.
@noodlechild666 It is not obtainable with ANY horse. The rider did ride in a set of spurs. Bits, spurs, and even whips are riding aids. Riding aids, when used properly are not inhumane.
Having a horse travel with a head set does not limit their field of vision. Sorry but you are not informed.
Josh Armstrong, La Mesa, New Mexico. Awesome trainer and exhibitor, as you can see. As I understand it, Mr. Sunolena Letters has a real good shot at being SuperHorse this year at AQHA WS. Hope so!

It's just as good as top reining, only with invisible reins! What a lovely horse to be such a pleasure to ride.

Love this. Shows that what people THINK is going on, is not what's going on. Have you watched Stacy Westfall doing this bareback?

@bridlelessgirl what makes you think that not EVERY horse can be
trained this well...AND he's not wearing knives...just spurs and if
he trained this horse to go like he does then i don't believe he'd wear
sharp spurs...i use spurs, they are DULLER than dull...just makes the
horse pay a little extra attention, like someone pokin you in the ribs
to get your attention...it is NOT painful or torturous

@bridlelessgirl well thank you for the compliment on my intelligence
and i too have trained many horses over the years.Even ones that
were supposedly "untrainable".I've done english, hunt seat & western
i envy you that you do reining!Aalways wanted to learn that-but now i can't
spin due to ear injury years ago...i'd be on my arse in the dust!! lol.Sorry for
misunderstanding what you meant with the "he is using spurs".Peace, Pony

Perfect combination. It can be very useful in show jumping to minimize the use of the bit as much as we can.
