The beautiful thing about Ufer is that he could have made today's 7-yard TD run from Vincent Smith in the fourth quarter sound just as exciting as this play...that being said, I would have LOVED to hear ole' Robert Frost Ufer on this one
This video shows just how great Bob Ufer was. I loved going to the Big House with Bob Ufer in one ear. Seeing this video brings back those memories. Thanks to the fan who made it. A true fan is he.
@MZoneBlog I wish there was some way you could dub in the correct player names & then having Hoke looking up to football Valhalla at General Bo "George Patton" Schembechler. That would be awesome! Thanks for this video though, I enjoyed it a lot. I really miss hearing Bob Ufer! When Michigan won the 1981 Rose Bowl, I was going to college in S. Carolina. I didn't have a TV so after a lot of moving the radio, was able to barely get WJR in Detroit to hear the close by Ufer. Made me homesick for M!
old man wolfolk threw...errrrr fumbled the ball out of bounds the play before wrangler hit carter. that stopped the clock for one last play. Lee corso was going ballistic at the no call for throwing ball out of bounds. I think this game helped move Lee to the from the sideline to the booth.
Growing up, not many games were on TV so Ufer/Radio was it.
The first thoughts I had while watching the finish to that game was... Imagine Bob Ufer calling that game... Great fun. There will NEVER be another UFER. He was simply the best... he was simply MEEEEEEEEEEECHIGAN!
Dunny....no, that would have meant it was bad judgement by the coaches. The whole point was to take a shot at a TD, but leave enough time for a FG if needed.
My only minor issue is that we left 2 seconds on the clock, it would have been so much more awesome had we scored and the whole team was allowed to rush the field. That being said, it's too bad Ufer couldn't have been with us to call this, totally wish I had been able to grow up hearing him
They aren't even going to try the extra point, who cares, who gives a damn

At the end, I was thinking of Bo coaching this game. Think he would have called that play?

@trublu97 I don't know why Lee keeps on bitching about that. At the time I'm pretty sure that was a legal play

If only I was old enough to hear Bob Ufer call a game.

The play before that play, the 60+ yard gain, that looked A LOT like the Anthony Carter play. He just couldn't make it to the end zone.
