gotta love CNBC's style of journalism... Mr. Blackswan and Professor Roubini, I wonder if the commentator knows Mr. Blackswan is a professor of statistics at NYU; a colleague of Prof Roubini. I would not be able to sit through that interview if I were them. Like so many other commentators, this is precisely why I watch Bloomberg!
CNBC morphed into Fox: yelling, shouting, seemingly randomly blurting out fortune-cookie like statements by Financial cheerleading sycophants with turrets. These knuckleheads have an undying and unconditional hero worship of the Bastards of the Universe - who have perverted Wall Street, the US financial system and capital Mrkts - a psychological defect that would have put them at the head of the Kool Aid line at Jonestown. At least on Bloomberg, they have better control of their emotions!
CNBC = Cacophonous Nonsense, Bullshit and more Crap. That's why I watch Bloomberg instead - their journalists tend to be more professional and when they come across something they don't know or understand they fall back on the basics of journalism: What, Why, When, Where, Who, How. CNBC's the financial equivalent of ESPN Sports Center - a lot of posturing, sniping, barbs, jibes and retorts; its set up is like a football game. At best it's entertainment. At worst its propaganda.
The CNBC people obviously just don't get it. "Where do I put my money now?" That's like being on a plane that's going down and asking "Which end of the plane should I run to now in order to protect myself?" Taleb is saying, we need to bail out of this plane (way of doing things). A debt-based system that rewards those who take irresponsible risks is not the system to invest in.
CNBC guys are clowns, just trying to fill in time with multiple questions w/o understanding the answers ! And who is that jerk (with that T-18 year baby story) seeking investment advice from these guys. Unbelievable !
Its almost like they are in a childlike/disney trance. They have the honour of talking to two of the great visionaries of the economics world, and they dismiss their views as just 'doom'.
Ironic that the interview was done on the very start of the previous cycle collapse from DOW 8000+ to 6600.
I think Nicholas Nassim Taleb was being sensible; but the reporters were trying to malign him.
Firstly, they called him Mr Black Swan. Secondly, the lady in black and the fat dark guy almost flew into a rage when he sugggested eliminating symmetric payoffs to managers as it encouraged them to take stupid risks and be paid whether they succeeded or failed.
That bunch on POWER LUNCH is so irritating. Just wait another couple of years when the market is cut in half from these levels. CNBC has the most annoying group of stockmarket cheerleaders...... Why won't these reporter tell the American People what is really coming regarding the stock market ? They give false hope to all the dummies out there who think this market is going back up again.
It's amazing how everyone commenting, including me, feels the same way about these crappy reporters! And you know what?! It's most people, unfortunately, that are like that! I've tried to explain to people the same thing and I get the same response (sometimes even worse)!
The reporters are like spoiled kindergarden kids. Can we have candy? No there's none left... Can we have candy!?!? No... PLEEEAASE, can we have candy!?? How many times will I need to tell you, NO!!
CAN WE HAVE CAAAAANDYYYY??? WE WANT CAAAANDYYYY!!!
CNBC is done. They have lost all credibility with their cheerleading of tech stocks in 2000 and now totally missing this mess and cheerleading real estate. This news network is finished!! This black swan guy is telling them all the right facts and then this dope reporter starts asking what to invest in for his kids college? What an idiot. He works for CNBC and has no clue. Dude, if you have an 18 year investing horizon just buy an S&P500 index fund. Case closed. What idiots!!
The only guys that CNBC aggressively question are the guys who had warned of the coming collapse. If only CNBC were toilet paper they would get what they deserved.
I can't believe I missed this. Roubini and Taleb are right on the mark about systemic problems and then with a classic CNBC response, Bill Griffeth asks them for short term advice. Neither of them take the bait and they both offer real long-term solutions. Then whoever that arrogant CNBC boy wonder is pushes for individual investment advice. This is why CNBC should be totally ignored. They are in the tank for Wall Street. Both Taleb and Roubini made the point that the CNBC way is broken. Kudos!
"Cash is king" u gotta luv that answer, the only question now is which type of currency hard or soft? My guess is these gents r buyin up gold bars like kids twinkies
Especially that thin-lipped clown with glasses...he ripped on Peter Schiff back in early 08 when Schiff correctly said that US entered recession in December of '07. No surprise there...why do you think Herb Greenberg left?
This is why I do not listen to this program or induldge in this station anymore. These 2 hosts are freakin' clueless, miopic dolts. I feel sorry for any children they might have. NBC, CNBC and MSNBC are in the tank and would LOVE to have the ratings of some of their competition. Bunch of chumps. Pathetic!!!!!!!!!
This is EXACTLY why I do not induldge in this program or give this station any of my time. Honestly, these 2 miopic dolts do not have a freakin' clue. And this is how low NBC, CNBC and MSNBC have plummeted. I feel sorry for any children they might have. God help them. Pathetic!!!!!!!
Here are two geniuses being questioned by absolute idiots. The hosts are making the greatest financial crisis EVER seem like a joke. it's no wonder U.S. citizens are in the dark. But make no mistake about it. It is not a mistake that the anchors are attempting to discredit Nouriel and Nassim look like the bad guys here...even when they were RIGHT! The U.S. system of "disinformation" is squarely intended to keep people in the dark so that the few at the top can keep making their fortunes.
Don't listen to the professor who predicted the real estate crash in 06 and gave a 12 step outline of what happened. Don't listen to Taleb who has made ridiculous returns in this market and advises many hedge funds. Instead listen to the media whores on CNBC that told you to buy the financials in 07 when it dropped 10%. Now they're down over 70%.
This was like watching the Sunday morning NFL sports idiots talk over each other and play a guessing game they know very little about. Roubini and Swan needed the floor to explain their bear positions
If an MSNBC executive watches this show and allows these monkeys to ever question any other guest then he should be fired also.
These buffoons should be removed from in front of the camera immediately and given jobs that they are fit for. Cleaning the toilets or moping the floors comes to mind.
I am offended and embarresed for these two gentlemen. Calling Mr. Taleb Mr. Swan was also an ignorant comment from an ignorant individual.
these guys come on to talk about a world-historical financial meltdown that will shake the foundation of global finance...and get asked for stock tips.
The whole wall street, CNBC and Washington is looking for short term gains and how they can bolt off with that. They have no way to understand guys that thinks long term like these..they are just from two different species...It is unfortunate that we are at the mercy of the former and not the latter....
CNBC is a disgrace. Do these people feel no shame? What awful, horrible journalism. Just disgusting. I thought FOX news was the worst. But CNBC is running a close second. I need to go throw up now.
We thought the stupid people were gone with the Bush administration, well, guess what, they're still here ! How come such shallow and retarded people are given jobs on national television ?
They bring them on as a circus act...no different than Fox bringing in liberals like poke the monkey. This is precisely why people in this country can't get a fair shake. Same reason why 'amature' scientists are ignored..let the professionals handle it they say...well when your fixated on dogma we can plan on more of the same from them.. their both right we need to clean house. Bernake is a puppet ..his official position in 2006 was that the economy wasn't that bad so ya he's an idiot..
*throws up his hands* This is what happens when the infotainment media is confronted with a real crisis, they can't get out of their "The View" mentality (how many times did they play on the word "doomsayer"*...but I still got enough good information from the two "Doomsayters" , wish we could have heard more on nationalization and the debt to money supply ratio
Wow watching CNBC is worse for your Brain and CNS than spending the rest of your life in an opium den. Who is stupider Kneale or Caruso-Cabrera?
I'm going to give the stupidity crown to Caruso-Cabrera on points. Kneale seems to realize his job is to be a complete beserk ignoramus in the Stephen Colbert mold. Caruso-Cabrera just appears to be too dense to understand what she is talking about and her every statement is based on the precepts of her industry/party's failed dogma.
I beg to differ, I'm very sure that Herera is also an idiot. This is typical of the ADHD crap you get from CNBC. Between these types of interviews and the octabox crap your often see, your brain totally goes to mush watching this crap.
