The Novus Ordo, no matter how it is celebrated, is complete herasy. When the protestants broke away from the Catholic Church in the 14th century, they eliminated about 78% of the prayers. These same prayers have been eliminated in the Novus Ordo. Remember, it was the protestants that introduced communion in the hand, and the mass being said in the venacular. The Novus Ordo is nothing but a pagan, protestant, masonic service that must be shunned by true Roman Catholics!!!!!

I visited a parish recently and one of the Eucharistic ministers brought Holy Communion to an elderly woman sitting in one of the pews. There were a few persons sitting next to her. The "minister" had a hard time getting to her so he just took the Host with his right hand,stretched out his arm in front of the people and the woman took the Host with her hand and put it in her mouth. She and the minister obviously weren't too concerned about particles from the Sacred Species falling on the ground.

The Novus Ordo in itself is not a complete atrocity. It is the horrendous translation by the ICEL and the multitude of blasphemous abuses that have occurred during the Novus Ordo. The Divine Liturgy and Tridentine Mass are God focused, solemn, pious modes of worship. Look at what has happened to the Roman rite since the NO was promulgated, and you will see that the fruits born by the New Mass are evil.

Now.....the ones who are performing the liberal crap mass are in communion with Rome but are in grave sin as they have committed sacrilege, the Pope celebrates a lovely Novous ordo, with the introit being sung as he enters, just as it would at the foot of the altar in Tridentine mass, he does the Asperges etc, the only difference is that he faces the people and they have bidding prayers. Nothing wrong in that.

@priest008 No I agree. But again, the weight of the abuses comes down in judgement upon the leaders of the Church. So long as lackadaisical bishops, and limp-wristed priests are the shepherds of the flock of Christ, then the wolves will continue to rip the sheep to shreds. The order of the Mass is vastly superior in the Tridentine Mass. Abuses have always been, yet never such as now, nor have they been so carelessly dealt with.

Don't forget that the Tridentine mass was officiated as a Missal and whole order, during a great turmoil in the Churches history. And it has only come back during another great turmoil in the Church's history. It seems the Tridentine mass always comes to the rescue during hardship. But none the less the Novous Ordo can be similarly majestic when celebrated as it should be...

@HomeSkillet489 Exactly, this is a big shame, because if the Novous ordo was celebrated as it was meant to be, then it would really contribute to enrich the Tridentine mass also, because new music would be written, new chant and modern day composers would also write their own Missa. The Pope's mass is always celebrated in a solemn manner, and I think that the Pope is paving the way for restoration. Rather than doing things drastically which would cause immediate anger, he is doing things slowly.

1. we, the roman catholics, don't use thick bread (Host).

2. we don't have women priests.

3. nuns are the only group of women allowed to give communion.

4. we don't use ceramic chalice and ciboria.

@fmorgana Then One Holy Thursday a statement was issued by an office in the Curia (by Cardinal Fisher?) which said if the matter to be consecrated is of dubious identity as bread and wine, the masses were invalid and stipends offered for such masses must be returned. As a Catholic I am greatly saddened as the disorder and disagreements that my fellow Catholics have with the teachings of their own Church and the liturgies it practices in the Mass.

These people are acting in direct violation of Vatican II, not through it. Blame the people in the US who were supposed to implement it, not the Council.

Second, and most important, it is incredibly beneficial for the faithful to meditate upon those mysteries, especially, well, all five. The Baptism at the River Jordan, the Wedding Feast at Cana, the Proclamation of the Kingdom of God, the Transfiguration, and The Institution of the Eucharist. The Eucharist is the "source and summit of the Christian life." Doesn't seem unnecessary to me to pray these.

However, be careful to do your homework make sure they, the parish that offers the Tridentine Mass, is in UNION with the church there are some communities who offer the Latin Mass, who mean well. 5:17 isn't abusive. Interesting to note that many of these images come from either Latin America or the US. I believe here in Western Europe we've gone through that period in the 1970's and 1980's. No longer, thankfully.

Who are the perpetrators of these liturgical abuses? I think that the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, and the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life need not only to draft some clear guidelines about these liturgical abuses, but also give them teeth.

Yes! Particulary the diocese Linz in Austria needs the supervision of their liturgical formation..Also some Jesuits, Dominicans unfortunately too..

My Archbishop is a great man: however, many people dislike him for that...especially liberal "Catholics".

Why the Holy See does nothing with those abuses? A lot of abuses take place in Germany and Austria, and not just there of course...These black paws, on the one of pictures, elevated with consecrated "pizza" are some like a monstrance during the celebrations of Feast of the Body and Blood of our Lord, in diocese Linz in Austria...

When we start "cutting off" all the people who are guilty of abuses and misbehaviour, then I fear that thousands of parishes will be left without a priest.

Immoral priests can still administer the sacraments validly - even if illicit.

The question is: will we want to close down thousands of parishes?

It's a hard decision to make and I am sure that this is already discussed in Rome.

This situation is serious.The Pontiff could solve these priests by excomunicating them but, like you said, many parishes will lose their priests. And I know that is hard for the Holy Father because he is in the middle btw "liberal" and "ortodox" faithfulls. I think that we need more ortodox Seminars where young clerics will learn that these awful things don't have nothing with real Euharistion.

the Vatican is doing something about it, slowly but surely. we don't see it in the news every day. there are documents and pastoral letters about how the Mass should be said and treated but the problem is no one is listening to the Vatican. the local bishop is responsible for his diocese and should see to it that the Mass is being treated with respect and reverence. let's just pray that our bishops are not liberals and chickens.

True, one of the worst liturgies I attended recently was in Austria. Austrian priests can still afford these kind of disgraceful behaviours because the country is less secularized than other W European nations.

Here in France, we are one of the most secularized nations on earth and I can tell you that our young priests, though not numerous, are overwhelmingly attached to the Tradition of the Church. My parish priest is 35 and I've never heard that much Latin in my life!!
