Best game ever, I put Bioshock in my top 5 as well. Love this part, so haunting searching the abandoned mansion while Nicolette reminisces and Icarus taunts you.
Mom and Everett used to sit out here sipping martinis and plotting to take over
@florianfan2008 maybe bioshock infinite once it comes out. the original might be considered better than DX but it doesn't have enough NPC's- there's only like 5 characters in the game
At this point in the game it really takes on a haunting theme. When you listen to this song you really get the idea of what could have been. But it still reminds you that this is how it is...how it really happened.
Anone knows any other games like Deus Ex? I finished all three deus ex games atleast 10 times each. Now... i... just need too... find another game as good as Deus ex.... But cant find one... What a shame....
And please dont recommend System Shock, it is nowhere near Deus Ex.
i played System shock 2, i didnt really like it. The story line wasnt intriguing, there was absolutely no allied or neutral characters to talk with etc etc.
@florianfan2008 well there are some similarities but not to many to consider but the same guy who started deus ex was the same project lead for the original system shock (but both are fantastic game series anyway)
2:30 just... Freezes my spine. It's as if all the emotion, dark atmosphere, mysterious badass grace of JC Denton among other characters and urge to reveal secrecies in it's futuristic Dystopian world with historically majestic attachments all rolled into one piece of audio.
"My mother had that couch flown in from Portugal. Exactly the same as she could have got from La Sabrlington, except that it was once graced by the bottoms of a royal family!"
To repeat what has been said on another video, deus ex has managed to bring the youtube community together. Just one more great thing about this game.
@mirocu100 Yes, I did get to see her again. She was as wonderful as last time, about seven years ago. Just for fun I threw some chairs at her. She smiled back at me and cried out "Oh, Lord!"
I am a Nintendo fanboy, I love Ocarina of time, Metroid Prime and Super Metroid are some of the best games ever made, and Mario 64 and Galaxy are the best platformers ever made.........but you know what?
Deus ex is the Greatest game of all time and easily eviscerates the shallow stimuli-focused games of tody.
I played through this game and human revolution. I was very impressed by the detail put in HR, but I did see two major flaws in it. One, the story was not as complicated, philisophically insightful, or deep as the origional DE. Two, the soundtrack was NOWHERE near as good as in the Conspiracy. What a shame...
i just went through the game for the elventh time, i still haven´t got enough, know that i hace played this game since i was 3, still to date, it´s the best game ever made, better than halo, better than portal, better than half life, better than eny fucking game there has ever been. don´t get me wrong, the games i mentioned are fantastic, half life is wonderful, but, deus ex goes beyond anything i have seen in my whole video game life.
honestly i went through that entire house expecting to be attacked or to find some guards, was impossible to sneak since nicholette would follow you every so your silent footsteps would be replaced by "THUD THUD THUD THUD"
"Music will change based on the player's actions" That was what happened with Unreal, as well. Just reminds me of "Shared Dig" and "Skaarj Attacks", which were in the same track.
@crolen42 I agree...I kept thinking there will be troops storming the house or something the first time I played. Good Pacing actually...going from the action of the catacombs and the streets to a purely info gathering mission....then its on to the church which is my favorite mission...(well that and the tanker)
I remember first playing this level and being on the edge. I was running about the house with my auto-shotty ready, expecting to see an MJ12 trooper waiting on the other side of a door.
Agreed.Though I am not on the hate bandwagon.I believe its a decent game, just not a masterpiece of brilliance like DE1.(DE1 is a work of intellect..I am not sure calling it a 'game' with the traditional sense does it justice)
This is easily one of my favourite games of all time. I can't count how many times I played through it on both the PC and PS2. Until the game discs both got too scratched up/worn out to work anymore. But the new game, Human Revolution, looks promising, worth taking a look at, at least.
Helios: "I should regulate human affairs precisely because I lack all ambition, whereas human beings are prey to it. Their history is a succession of inane squabbles each one coming closer to total destruction."
Here's hoping Human Revolution lives up to the expectations set by Deus Ex. I expect an explorable environment full of newspapers, datacubes, and flyers I don't need to read but will read anyway, a butt-kicking soundtrack that changes from background, to combat, to conversation, and to death as appropriate, a conspiracy twist mid game, and perhaps a visit to memorable locations in the first game as necessary and not simply for nostalgia. Ellis Island just prior to the bombing perhaps.
Human Revolutions is EVERYTHING invisible war should had been. Now that's a TRUE worthy prequel to Deus Ex, and I can say without a shadow of hesitation that they did a terrific job on it.
my only gripe with HR is how there's no melee weapons :S but other than that, HR just like the original, is one of those "one-in-a-generation" kind of game. The sort that lays the fundations on wich other games later base themselves to be famous
Something I just remembered about this wonderful game. Often at times I felt like I just wanted to walk around locations. Todays games you just wanna run get the job done, finish the game. With Deus Ex, you took your time to explore and experience this incredible vast world. What a masterpiece.
So beautiful. So freaking beautiful. My love for this game is unmatched to anything in my entire life, so much so that it has simply become a part of me. Long live JC Denton
I love so much this game that had I reinstalled it and played even 5 times. Deus ex gameplay is just perfect. Most of the new games maybe have great graphics, but they are banal and not interesting. I hope Deus ex 3 won't be such.

heh i remember seeing this game for like 20$ in a cheap game bins.. i pressured my dad to buy it to me, it was pure luck.. or maybe it was fate, made me discover one of the deepest fps ever
@Oztington007 for me it came as a bonus with one of the ol' video cards my dad bought back in the day... it came with nothing but the CD and a blank paper sleeve... lucky!!!!
@Lordsqueej I am not a native speaker so I was never sure - dissection is cutting the body to see what's inside, right? So if they cut her, for whatever reason, why would they place her in cryogenic storage? Or maybe that was like a mental dissection? They "broke into" her mind and froze the body afterwards?
For me this track is best from whole game. I still have some mp3 on my itunes library. Need to say that i played it a lot just after the release :) It's been a looong time so far.

@Oztington007 for me it came as a bonus with one of the ol' video cards my dad bought back in the day... it came with nothing but the CD and a blank paper sleeve... lucky!!!!

Replaying this game now, and this soundtrack brings back a lot of happy memories of the first time I played it through 10 years ago. :)

Not only story or gamplay are masterpiece but music too .
Soundtrack is masterpiece it describe scenery and situations of game perfectly.
Its dark, futuristic etc.......I love this game!
An yeah people should accept other opinions but is there reason to call it bad, avarage or even only good?

Incoming Transmission > "You will find nothing here. Beth Duclare has been dissected and placed in cryogenic storage." ...Bastards

IMHO best are:
Hong Kong Streets
Opponent Within
Paris Chateu (DuClare)
The Illuminati
UNATCO
I love them :)
