I was in the area when this approached, and we were pretty much in hysterics. Never seen anything like it before or since. It looked like armageddon, but there was remarkably little damage, except for displaced outdoor furniture from the huge wind gusts and of course, torrential rain as well. It was a bit crazy.

This sort of weather is formed by specially high winds along the front line. It is now officially defined as " Derecho" I have flown into this weather on occasion, The wind speed and direction changes considerably within just a few miles, so if you need to shoot an approach, best to hold clear a few minutes will make all the difference. Usually quite benign on the other side of the front !

Awesome video mate. I chased that storm up in QLD as well down near Boonah. It started out as a few nice supercells in NE NSW then merged into a HUGE squall line up in QLD! Some of the lightning from that night was the most intense i've ever seen!

I actually chase this thunderstorm from Canungra QLD to Brisbane (it was a squall line from the Border Ranges North). I must say this is one of the best storm footage I have ever seen. Well Done!
