  • @TATTOOTRANING I have a question about the follow through on tattoo power supplys. What is it? And what is normal for a shader and a liner?

  • @MisterMerck303 if you listen to me for any amount of time you will learn them numbers dont mean shit. stop looking to that dam thing to tell you something , iether that machine is harmonically sound or it aint,

  • Had a quick question, and forgive me if the question sounds a bit redundant, but how can you tell which capacitor is compatable with either a liner or shader machine? Your vids are definitely helping me out, much appreciated

  • so im guessni i gota buy a new capictor

  • @OoThanh depends , what one is on the machine and what kind of machine is it

  • what if i only have 1 side of the wire for the battery thingy?

  • @OoThanh not sure what you mean ? do you mean both wire come out of the same end ?

  • @TATTOOTRAINING no i think i messd up my compacitor ? o_O only 1 side of the capictor has a wire lol

  • @OoThanh yah that dog wont hunt , never seen that happen before

  • @TATTOOTRAINING idk wut to connect the wire too ?? o_O the battery??

  • @OoThanh ok now your just being a fool

  • i got a couple of those 12.00 machines (red and black) that you talked about in your other video. they both came with 47uf50v caps. should i keep that on my shader and switch out to to at 22uf or 33uf on my liner? i've also replaced the bar and springs, front and rear posts on both machines.

  • @dirtybird76 22 short liner 33 med shader 47 long color packer , i would change coils if they dont meter true see coil video

  • @TATTOOTRAINING coils metered true. using your videos i was able to completely take them apart and rebuild them with better parts. now just for fine tuning, and finding that sweet spot by listening and feeling with the voltage vs going with just a number. then practice practice practice. as always, thanks for the help.

  • @dirtybird76 if the coils are good and read around 3.5 then you can use it for long stroke with the 47uf cap . remember the longer the stroke the lower the tension .

  • Eikon offers a 68uf cap

Have u ever used them ?

Would it be an advantage for a double nickle gap setup, or would it just be too slow ?

  • @rickpermanentmarker personal style , it would be very slow , a 47 at 4.5mm gap is slow enough for me , but i cant say what may be doable for others . i dont know of any advantage at all

  • i spoke to a m8 who said he changes his caps on all new machines why??? i was wondering if someone could tell me how to improve my machines or setup for different jobs ie soft blkngrey or packing etc ,machine issues have puzzled me for years now if someone has a method that would help me please let me know

  • @stinkygusto i explain this in other videos. short gap is fast so use a 22uf med gap 3.5mm use 33uf cap , long gap 4.0mm or more 47uf cap becouse it is a slower cap long gap is slower machine. look up my other video 3 machine settings set up

  • just bought new coils and dont know if they fit or if i did it worng when i put them in my armature bar woudl not fit

  • @eraines211 frames have different heights and then you also have the yoke if it applies, assuming you installed them with no shims and the rear coil is hitting the armature bar, the coils are too tall , standard coils are 1 1/4 what frame are you using?

  • Hey man..just going back thruogh some old info and I noticed alot of talk about positive and negative. I've experimented with reversing the cap and I've not noticed any difference at all..also all the machines at Workhorse Irons (Cory Rogers, Seth Ciferri, Aaron Cain) and Danny Fowler's have the cap opposite of what you have, others come the way you say..just wondering why it matters if the clip chord isnt labeled..just wondering. Great info! Working on a line of color packers!! Coming soon! Thx

  • @milodavid a cap will get hot but still work if the clip cord is not attached in the same direction as the cap , in therorry you have to look at the way a coil is wound the electrons flow in the direction of the neg to pos . so to me that means neg goes to the bottom post. some clip cords have a red side and some are both black , but never seen it make a difference, i have seen different reading on a meter when you flip the meter probes .

  • hi....I figured out the problem, i think maybe i had the power up to high.

  • damascus steel...

  • reading answers to your comments are very informative, strangely to pair the same machines have the power die out gradually when i use, this is a recent problem, I'm thinking of changing the capacitors and see what happens, the power slowly dying out is a sign of what sir???? thanks!

  • @MrJohnnyINK what machines ? iron frames or non ferrous ?

  • Why are do many clipcords sold without marking postive / negative? Even from the better webshops you still get a clipcord without markings. I bought a Chinese clipcord from eBay with good black red cable.

A capacitor without a rim on 1 end is a bipolar one?

  • @blackvelvettattoo all clip cords come from china and few understand this. no a cap with a rim on one end is not bi polar the rim end is pos and the end with the neg symbol and an arrow goes to the othe rend , a bipolar has both wires coming out the same end AND has no pos or neg markings its called radial bi polar , some radials have a pos neg wire that are marked .

  • @TATTOOTRAINING I said a cap with NO rim on it.. ;)

  • @blackvelvettattoo if both wire are on the same end and no rim or markings then it is bipolar

  • @TATTOOTRAINING hey man your so freaking amazeing lol one day ill do something for u idk what but i will do something !!! to show my appreciation!!! but do we have to use both of those solders??? or can we jsut use one???

  • hi there.

i was trying to change my cap 47uf to 22uf for my cutback shader and my machine fall down the infiniteirons springs got broken, do you think if i file down the sides of the rear spring(ITS spring) will work.?

    thanks 4 all your help.

  • @st1gmagt7 fall down ? i wont ask . yes you can narrow the its rear to a half inch wide

  • how do you know a positive and negative poles?

  • @st1gmagt7 the capacitor has a mark on the side it is a -- or a negative symbol that points to the bottom or the end that is silver , the pos. end has a rim around it dand has a black end , there is no standard when they are put in so know what ens of the clip cord is neg.

  • where did you get your shrink tubes?

    thanks

  • @st1gmagt7 Radio shack, you can get it at lowes also

  • i want to change them for the cutback an single pass liner.

    so thats correct right?

i gonna leave like that my shader and color packer.

    thank you very muchh

    #1

  • @st1gmagt7 yes my its is my cutback 22uf 35v

  • hi

can be possible to put a 22uf to 10 wrap(layers) ITS machine?

    they have a 47uf.

    tha machine can be damaged?

    thanks for all your info...

    u r the # 1 on youtube

    see ya

  • @st1gmagt7 hell yes , no it wont be damaged 22 was standard for a long time until people started using 47 on everything to hide the spark , it really matters what the gap is , what work is it going to do ? a dime gap liner or cut back needs a 22uf so it charges fast a large gap/ stroke machine is slower and pairs up best with a 47uf ,

  • i noticed you said you could buy everything you needed to do the cap,, exchange at radio shack except the 33 uf!! any other local establishment carry those that you may no of right off the top of your head?? preciate it!!

  • @MrTattooedcowboy no you will have to look in the phone book , also ask any local tv repair shop if they have a 33uf 25v cap , other than that i go to ebay , if you have a problem finding them send me a PM and ill hook you up

  • If my contact point (on a brand new machine) has a tiny spark on it, & i mean a very tiny spark does the capacitor need replacing? ive never had it before on a new machine.

  • @jasonfish07 no in fact people who say this are just ignorant . the truth is the spark is a sign of a strong charge in the coils , the bigger the better put on a new 10uf cap and you get allot of spark , use a new 47uf cap and you have very little spark, because the cap is like a battery , it is also like a cup that water fills at the same rate, it takes longer 2 fill a 47 than a 22 so you get a faster charge of the coils with a small cap, probably more than u wanted to know

  • @jasonfish07 you probably never seen it before because people use 47's so the spark is low ( to keep the points clean ) , however the bigger the gap the longer it has time to charge and then you will see it . electromagnetic harmonics and coil construction is not understood by people who talk out of their asses and say a spark means its a bad cap. a silver point and silver screw will stay clean anyway

  • @TATTOOTRAINING Cheers for your reply, theres alot to soak up!

  • hey thanx. just not to sure

  • prob a stupid question, but???

  • great info. one question, when you replace a 100v capacitor, can the exchange be a 50v?

  • @keredsmith85 a power supply only goes up to 25v at the most so anything over 25v is a waste but yes you can put a 50 on

  • So what CAP is better for liner and what CAP is better for shader...oh and ya vids are great...thx for sharing this knowledge is invaluable...

  • @zeffman99 watch all the videos , short stroke (outliner)22uf

    long stroke 47uf (color)

  • Do you really need the Lead Free Silver Solder Flux?

  • the flux is acid flux the solder is lead free sivler bearing

there is no lead free flux

  • Great pointers!!!

  • Nice, thanks.

  • DAMN YOUR AWESOME MAN DOPE HAHA
